I was excited to try the Mizuno Wave Sky 5. I ran in Mizuno Wave Sky 3 and loved it. Sadly, the Wave Sky usually takes a backseat behind the Wave Rider. The Wave Rider is cushioned but lighter than the Sky, so more people prefer the rider. I prefer more cushion, so preferred the Wave Sky. Some years the Rider is just too firm for me.

I decided to try a few new hydration products, including the Skratch Labs Wellness Hydration. Living in the desert, I’m always looking for new hydration products. I can really tell how much the dryness affects my running, even when it’s cold out. Like many hydration products, the Skratch Labs uses “ORS” or oral rehydration solution” which is certified by the WHO and gets into your bloodstream faster. I didn’t really notice a difference in products on the east coast, but I definitely do in a drier climate out west.

I’ve wanted to hike to the Bridge to Nowhere for a while now, but the timing never worked out. Finally, around Christmas, we had a chance. Unlike many hikes in the Los Angeles area, there isn’t a lot of vertical. That doesn’t mean it’s not challenging because it is. You’ll cross streams and find yourself climbing up rocks and through rock beds. If there is any hike that I would have a good pair of shoes and socks; it’s this one.
