Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru (Whittier, CA)

While in the greater Los Angeles area, I stopped at Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru in Whittier. I knew I wanted to go to a diner, and this seemed to be a good stop.

Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru Atmosphere: A

Despite not having “diner” in the name, Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru is one of the most stereotypical diners you can have. There is outdoor seating and even a covered outdoor seating area with fun booths in the shape of cars. I appreciated the three seating areas, whether you wanted to sit fill inside, covered outside, or outside in the sun.

The waitresses are all wearing fun diner outfits, and it feels like a blast from the past.

Inside there is a retro feel with checkerboard tile as well as a few tables. There is a chrome interior with a muted pink or blue color scheme.

It’s a lot smaller indoors. A few things that make Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru different is there is an entire drive-thru. I’ve only been to a few diners with full drive-thrus, and it’s always a treat when they are there. Also, if you order inside, you order and then find a seat. Similar to a fast-food restaurant! You don’t have to worry about being seated; you can choose your seat. It’s like the Pit Stop Diner in Oceanside, maybe it’s a Southern California thing.

Coffee: X

No coffee, this time as I was heading straight home afterward and didn’t want to deal with stopping and traffic.

Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru Food: A

Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru has almost all of the regular things you can expect in a diner. There are many breakfast and lunch options, including basic pancakes, omelets, sandwiches, and salads. They even have a chiplote sandwich which I was thinking of getting too. You can see the full Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru menu here.

I was feeling a salad and decided to order the greek salad with chicken. I haven’t ordered a diner salad in a while, so I was excited to see what the west coast had to offer.

The greek salad with chicken was a lot bigger than I was expecting. There was an overwhelming amount of feta cheese, but in a good way. In all, the salad was great and somewhat filling. I couldn’t ask for a better meal.

Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru Service: B

The waitress and hostess were great. Even though my meal said it would be prepared in 10 minutes, it took about 30.

Cost: $

For my salad, the cost was $14. It was one of the more filler diner salads I’ve had.

Overall Thoughts/Would I Come Back to Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru?

I liked Frisco’s Carhop and Drive-Thru, and I appreciate that it is a diner drive-thru. If you are looking for an easy and fun stop in Whittier, it’s a great option, and I will be back.
