The Allen Stone Run Swim Run is one of my favorite races. I didn’t travel back to Virginia just to do the race but the timing worked that I was around anyway. The Allen Stone Run Swim Run is a 1k run on the beach followed by a 1k swim back in the ocean and then a 5k run on the boardwalk. The Virginia Beach boardwalk is cement so it is fast although you also dodge tourists on the boardwalk.
Many people know, but I grew up a swimmer. I have since stopped *really competing* in swimming events. I’ll occasionally do an open water swim but really the only time in recent years is at the Allen Stone Run Swim Run.
While heading down to Los Angeles Airport, I stopped at the Route 66 Classic Grill in Canyon Country, CA. It’s been one of the top diners I’ve wanted to go to since moving to the desert. Since it’s over an hour away without traffic, there hasn’t been a great time to go.
It’s about halfway from my house to the airport; it made sense to stop. I got there around 4:30 pm, and there were a few other parties inside, but it was not crowded.
The Asics Metaspeed Edge Shoe is the second carbon-plated shoe from Asics. It was only last year that Asics had a “lackluster” carbon-plated shoe. Now they have two very good ones.
The Metaspeed Edge is a lightweight shoe with one of the best ground feels of any running shoe. It helps runners elongate their stride. So if you have a short choppy stride (like me), the Edge is designed to help make it longer. So they say…but does it really?
After loving the Asics so much, I decided to try the Asics Magic Speed. Having the name is “Magic” in it, you know it’s going to be good. At least we hope so, that’s a bold statement and big-name shoes to fill.
