Freshly Meal Service Review

Recently I had the opportunity to try Freshly Meal Service. Freshly is a meal delivery service that delivers “fresh meals” to your home.

Freshly did send me meals to try, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

What Makes Freshly Different?

Freshly delivers straight to your home. Their motto is heat-and-eat in 3 minutes or less.

A few things about Freshly:

  • Less processed
  • Less sugar and more nutrients
  • Gluten-Free

You can also manage everything, including dietary needs, in the Freshly App, making it a lot easier to get the meals that work for you.

How Does Freshly Work?

Freshly sells individual-sized meals that are healthy and that you can microwave. Fresh and better? They are better than a frozen TV dinner, and you don’t taste like eating half frozen fish. You can choose your meal box with 4, 6, 9, or even 12 dinners.

Freshly ships to the Continental US, and you choose your delivery date. They arrive at your door, and you put them in your refrigerator. After that, just microwave when ready. It’s as easy as that.

Cost:

Cost is an important factor of home delivery meals because some services get far more expensive than ordering takeout somewhere. Depending on the number of meals you purchase, each meal costs between $8-$11.50.

Freshly Meal Choices:

Freshly has a rotating menu of choices, and they are transparent amount of the nutrition information—something I often find hard in other choices. If you are looking for a higher portion, more carbohydrates, or you want to know what’s in your food, Freshly provides it all. On the website, there are roughly 30 choices that change often.

My Experience with Freshly:

I tried several different meals, and I enjoyed them all. My food arrived exactly when it was scheduled and over dried ice. I had no issues with the shipping. I put it into the fridge to make, and each were made within the 3 minutes. I had healthy food within 10 minutes of wanting food.

Sesame Ginger Bliss Bowl:

I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I like ginger, so I knew I would probably like the Seasame Ginger Bliss Bowl. It came with noodle cut-hearts of palm in a ginger dressing. It was tasty, and I appreciated having a nonmeat option that was actually filling.

Zingy Buffalo Chicken:

The Zingy Buffalo Chicken from Freshly was delicious. I don’t cook a lot of chicken alone (no reason why I just don’t), so it was fun to have something I don’t “normally have.” It was spicy but not overly spicy and came with a “loaded cauliflower mash.” I’ve never had cauliflower mash before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It tasted similar to the regular mashed potatoes. The meal itself was filling, and I didn’t feel like I needed 5 like I often do with meal delivery services.

Paleo Pork Chops:

(To clarify, I am not following any diet, including Paleo). The paleo pork chop came with roasted vegetables and a mixed vegetable on top. This was my favorite meal (but I’m also biased because I appreciate and like a good pork chop). It was filling, and I found myself more full after this meal than almost any meal delivery service I’ve used, which was shocking.

Southwest Powerbowl:

I had the Southwest Power Bowl as a midafternoon snack and it was perfect. I really appreciated the flavor and the extra spice to it. It actually ended up being one of my favorite sides. The grilled chicken and roasted cauliflower were excellent together. This is one I would eat again and again.

Is Freshly Worth It?

The food at Freshly is easy to prepare, and honestly, it tastes good. To me, the meals at Freshly are worth it, especially when we start going back to in-person work. You can easily bring one for lunch or dinner, and use reheat whenever and not eat a boring sandwich or the same old stuff. Freshly shines for someone cooking for one often, someone who wants portable, healthy meals, or a small family.

You can try Freshly for yourself here. Plus they were nice enough to give $30 off using the discount code HOLLIE30.
