5 Eco-Friendly Gifts

5 Eco-Friendly Gifts

This year I’ve been trying to find more eco-friendly gifts or experiences rather than “stuff.” Finding experiences during COVID has been tougher, so I’ve leaned into eco-friendly gifts.

5 Eco-Friendly Gifts

So Why Eco-Friendly Gifts?

If you’re like me and environmentally conscious, buying many gifts that end up as waste seems silly. I recently learned that Americans throw away 25% more trash between Thanksgiving and New Years’. All of that extra trash creates about 25 million (yes million) tons of garbage.

There are plenty of ways to reduce waste, including skipping wrapping paper, reducing single-use plastic, and even just shopping less. It’s a balance we must find between gift gifting as well as staying sustainable and eco-friendly.

Being eco-friendly and buying eco-friendly gifts doesn’t mean skipping the holidays altogether.

Here are a few Eco-Friendly Gifts I’ve Found:

rabbit sports bra:

rabbit recently came out with a zero-waste sports bra. Not only is the utiliBRA-vo a good bra, but it’s also made from zero waste. Rabbit also uses sustainable material in their masks, and all of their masks are made from materials of previous styles.

Based in Santa Barbara, rabbit has created a lot of styles that are perfect eco-friendly gifts.

Hoka One One Torrent Running Shoe:

The Hoka Torrent 2 is one of my favorite trail running shoes. I wrote a review here. What makes the Hoka Torrent 2 even better is that it uses Unifi REPREVE® yarn derived from post-consumer waste plastic.

Using post-consumer waste plastic means parts of the shoe are made from post-consumer waste and are more eco-friendly. If you need a good trail shoe, period, I highly suggest it. It’s a bonus they are a great eco-friendly gift.

Ornot Bikes:

Ornot bicycles chose to be accountable for their carbon emissions. It takes the necessary actions to offset their carbon emissions then. Over the last year, they became Climate Neutral Certified. To become Climate Neutral Certified, they must evaluate manufacturing, raw good purchasing, supply chain infrastructure, and transportation efficiencies. Then they offset those emissions by purchasing verified offsets that actively remove carbon from the atmosphere.

This is one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly brands out there. If you have a friend looking for a bike, I highly suggest this eco-friendly gift.

Teva:

100% of Teva’s iconic straps are made from traceable, verifiable recycled plastic using REPREVE® yarn. That’s over 9 million plastic bottles kept out of landfills and put to better use. Teva also uses sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives for key materials and less water in their packaging.

This eco-friendly gift is perfect for post runs or walking around.

Waterdrop G2 Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System:

What is Waterdrop G2 Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System? It is a modern tankless RO system. It’s different from the traditional reverse osmosis system, which has a water bucket. The water flow is faster. It has a smart filter lifespan notification. And it’s super easy to install which you can totally do it by yourself.

Why drink filtered water?

First, you save on buying plastic bottles. Second, filtered water is much more eco-friendly than plastic bottles. Third, filtered water removes chemicals and water contaminants like Fluoride and Chloride. It can reduce the risk of many cancers by removing chlorine and chlorine byproducts alone.
