October Recap: Consistency and Track Workouts

me running

October flew by, right? I also say that every month, although not sure how November will go.

As I settle down here in Napa, both September and October brought consistency with my running. Even with the fires, I was able to continue training. Training for what, I’m not sure because races aren’t happening around here. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous, but safety is always the priority. California is the most strict state in the country and why San Franciso has kept COVID numbers so low after the first outbreak.

Anyway, I’ve been running and running a lot. Most of my runs are easy, and I’ve been trying to get on the trails a few times a week.

Miles Run: 353 miles
Range of Paces: 5:33-19:40-untimed (400m repeats-> trails)
Workouts: 8
Shortest Run: 4 miles
Longest Run: 14.4 miles

Swimming: 8 X

Thoughts:

I’m happy with how the month went. Right now, I have more free time than I have in years, and honestly, I’m just taking advantage of it with running. I’m not training for anything but building for whatever the future holds.

Since I’m able to, I’ve been getting on the track more. I enjoy the shorter intervals and pushing myself there.  It’s been a nice change of pace. I can feel myself getting stronger, and my turnover faster.

Swimming:

It’s been fun to get back into the pool and enjoy swimming. For now, I swim for about an hour in most sessions. I stick my face in the water and go with no stress. My goal for November is to swim 12X in the month. Why? My gym gives a secret reward for checking in 12X in a month, and I want to know what it is. Extrinsic motivation at it’s finest.
