Bette's Oceanview Diner (Berkeley, CA)

I haven’t been to a new diner in a month, so I was excited to get to Bette’s Oceanview Diner after running at Wildcat Canyon Regional Park. When I arrived at Bette’s Oceanview Diner, it was busy. Indoor seating is still not allowed, and every table was taken. Luckily I ordered takeout.

Bette’s Oceanview Diner Atmosphere: A

The most important thing to me right now is safety and precautions during the pandemic. Obviously, not every state or even county is the same, and California (and New Jersey) were two of the harder-hitting states. Right now with the atmosphere, I want to know, do I feel safe at a restaurant? Bette’s Oceanview Diner has outdoor seating, and all staff was wearing masks. Like other restaurants, you must wear a mask when you aren’t at your table (like the restroom).

Bette’s Oceanview Diner menu has plenty of options from eggs to pancakes, and lunch too. Lunch is served at 11 am. Since it closes at 2 pm; there are no dinner options.

I decided to order the Nova Lox scramble, which came with scrambled eggs, nova lox, a bagel (I chose an everything bagel), and potatoes. While making eggs is not difficult, I will say the eggs at Bette’s Oceanview Diner were some of the best I’ve had. They were light and fluffy.

I was also impressed with the bagel. Many people have said I’ll miss bagels when I moved to California but this bagel was good. The entire meal was delicious and I was happy with my selection.

The waitress and hostess were both friendly, and my food was ready when I arrived. I couldn’t ask for better service.

Bette’s Oceanview Diner Cost: $

For the Nova Lox Scramble, it was $15, which is more expensive for breakfast, but the quality was good, and it was a filling meal. I was extremely impressed with the eggs.
