Squirrel's Nut Butter Review

For the longest time, I thought Squirrel’s Nut Butter was a type of peanut butter. I saw people promoting it and that’s what I thought it was.  I didn’t research it and didn’t hear much about it.

But it’s not…

So, if it’s not Food, What is Squirrel’s Nut Butter?

Squirrel’s Nut Butter is a newer type of anti-chafe product. Whether you are running, or just need something to beat chafing.

The Squirrel’s Nut Butter skin salve was created for one of the co-founds daughters who had eczema. Squirrel’s Nut Butter was concocted to repair and restore dry, irritated skin.

Just about a year later, another founder, nicknamed “Squirrel,” was out of his usual anti-chafe cream, so substituted Squirrel’s Nut Butter. That’s when they realized how good the product was to combat skin damage and chafing.

Since Squirrel’s Nut Butter was created in the heat of the desert near Flagstaff, Arizona, you know they know a few things about sweating.

And no squirrels were harmed in the creation of Squirrel’s Nut Butter. They only test on consenting humans use the quality product.

What makes Squirrel’s Nut Butter Different?

Shortlist of ingredients:

There are just a few ingredients in Squirrel’s Nut Butter: Coconut oil, cocoa butter, beeswax, and Vitamin E oil. That’s it! If you are looking for a vegan option, Squirrel’s Nut Butter does make that too.

If you have sensitive skin (like me), some similar products can make you break out.  The all-natural ingredients of Squirrel’s Nut Butter are better for sensitive skin. I’ve used it for about a month now and not had any breakouts or issues. Squirrel’s Nut Butter soothes skin and even works well for skin restoration.

How Easy is Squirrel’s Nut Butter to Use?

Behind the concept of “does, it work,” any similar product should be easy to use. I decided to try the Squirrel’s Nut Butter “All-natural Anti Chafe Salve.”

It looks almost like a chapstick salve.  It’s easily applied and scent-free. With the All Natural Anti-Chafe Salve, it doesn’t get all over your hands and you don’t feel like you are wasting product. It truly is weather resistant.

My problem spots have always been my thighs and armpits, so I apply the Squirrel’s Nut Butter there. It stopped chafing and it didn’t even think about it after applying.

Finally, does Squirrel’s Nut Butter Work?

The most important part of a product review. I’ve found Squirrel’s Nut Butter to be useful for chafing and haven’t chafed since using it.  I didn’t find that the quality deteriorated during long runs or inclement weather.

Many of us chafe more during inclement weather, which Squirrel’s Nut Butter holds up during workouts in the heat of deserts or monsoons.

Compared to other products that are similar (like Body Glide), I like that Squirrel’s Nut Butter is all-natural and has a short list of ingredients. Since discovering it, I’m more likely to gravitate towards Squirrel’s Nut Butter just because it’s better for sensitive skin.

I haven’t had any issues with it, and I’ll gravitate towards it over other brands because of the short line of ingredients. If you’re interested in Squirrel’s Nut Butter you can find it here for yourself.

  1. I have only used SkinGlide and Chapstick for emergencies. I have heard of squirrel’s Nut Butter, but never tried it. What is your long run distance, and did you have to reapply it at all?

  2. I’ve never heard of this! But I’ve recently started back up working out and running so I will definitely have to look into getting it!

  3. Okay, confession, I always thought it was just a type of peanut butter too haha – I’m glad to hear that I’m not alone! That being said, as someone who loves hiking in warmer weather (when we’re sweating a lot) I am really interested in checking this out… Thanks for sharing!

    1. Of course! I’m glad I’m not the only one, it sounds like a fair amount of people have thought similarly.

  4. sounds like a great product to have in hand. I’ll keep it in mind

  5. I could definitely have used this when I was working out at the gym all the time. As I start to work out at home I definitely will consider using this in the future.

  6. I never heard of this but I don’t have much of a shafe problem (my skin gets large welts when it gets super hot or itchy). But I might try this to help with dry skin (can it do that?)
