The Most Random Post

I haven’t done a traditional style “thinking out loud” for a while.  What am I thinking about this week?

Who really cares…I doubt anyone was at the edge of their seat waiting…

It’s been a rough welcome back to New Jersey.  I’m not shy about admitting that snow is my thing.  After going to college in the tundra of Upstate, NY where it was too cold for snow, I’m done with it.  At least in Upstate, they plowed the roads efficiently.

I will admit, however, I was extremely impressed with how well the roads and the Philadelphia airport parking lot was plowed.  Not having to dig my car out at 11:30 at night was a nice surprise.

It was Christmas!
It was Christmas!
Complaining about the weather doesn’t change the fact that is winter so realistically we just need to make it through February.

In addition, to the weather change I’m transitioning back to East Coast time.  Now I feel “young again” because I’m up until midnight and wake up at 8-9.  Versus crashing at 9pm…that will be next week.

A little late but I don’t know if I’ve ever discussed on the blog.  I’m a Panthers fan and the team is going to the Super Bowl.  Am I die hard, scream at the TV type of person?  No but I have followed the team and games since freshman year of college.  This year was the first year I didn’t do a fantasy football team with them winning every day (literally I have for the last 6 years…) and of course this happens.  Oh well, Kevin and I might not be freinds after this game.

So what else am I thinking about?
A Spring Race schedule of course! I’m going back to my two favorite half marathons.

Shamrock Half (Virginia Beach)
This is one of the best, and well put together races.  If you are looking for a good Spring half or full marathon, this is your best bet. shamrock 3

April Fools half (Atlantic City)
I am going to run the April Fools half marathon in Atlantic City.  It was my favorite race in 2014, unfortunately (LOLOLOL), I got married the same day last year.

I guess that is all I have for now, and I’ll go for a run.

Question for you: Tell me a random thought you’re having right now.

  1. The part about the “we just have to make it through February” made me chuckle because I was just talking to my parents about the blizzard of 93 which was the storm of the century and happened in March!!

  2. I’m not a snow person either but like you, I’m looking at it that we just have a few more weeks of winter and then it will start to warm up again… hopefully. It’s so weird staying up until 11 (6pm Hawaii time) right now but I just can’t fall asleep any earlier. I give it a week until I’m back to my 9-6 sleep schedule.

  3. Yes, we just need to make it though February! I’m always thankful February is such a short month because it is the epitome of what I call the Winter Blahs. :]

  4. I’m not huge on football, but I think the Super Bowl would be a pretty amazing thing to experience just for the energy and atmosphere. And I can totally relate to jet lag making you feel like more of a normal person with being able to stay up late. I can pull some late hours if I’m out and about doing fun things, but if I’m at home? Yeah no. I’m out by 10.

  5. Random thought I’m having right now…I have to pee. But I have a brand new class of kids this period and don’t know if I can trust them to leave them yet. Will they steal my phone? Spit in my coffee? I haven’t trained them yet so I can’t be sure. LOL!

  6. Plowing in NJ is a huge joke. I grew up in Somerset county, where it wasn’t too bad, but I moved to Monmouth county to live with my mom/go to college and they get so confused by snow there. Like why. We live in North(ish) NJ now, (Western Morris County)where they 100% know how to deal with snow and it’s awesomeeeee. But either way I hate snow. HATE.

  7. We’re probably moving to VA Beach in a year or so for my husband’s job (Navy), and I’ve been looking for an excuse to get up there and see it. A half is a great excuse! Thanks for the tip!!
So we’re going to the Superbowl also…but, I’m not a Panthers fan. Even though we’re currently living in South Carolina. I’ve already ordered my Broncos gear, but it pains me a little to wear a team that’s not mine (although I can’t envision the day that the Chargers will ever go to the Superbowl). But I’m sooo excited. It’s going to be INSANE.
    Love random thought posts.

    1. First I’m jealous you are going to the Super Bowl, that’s awesome!

Second I grew up in VA Beach area and know it very well so feel free to email me if you need any advice whether it’s base info, housing or good places to run!

  8. I love randomness. 😀 And I love winter. We’ve been blessed with a REALLY good plowing system in our county, and we’re rarely stuck for very long. The coziness of winter is probably my favorite, although icy roads are not fun for those commuting to work.

  9. I’m on the opposite end of the snow debate, I figure if it’s cold I might as well get the joy of snow. I really want to improve (aka not fall every 10 feet) at snowboarding and its been a tough winter for that.

  10. That’s exciting about your 2 half marathons! I’m still trying to figure out my spring half but I have a few shorter races in the works right now.

    1. OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to slap them silly. Oh well, your perfect house is waiting patiently for your hot whole 30 asses to show up and move in. Hindsight is 20/20.

  11. I wish I only had to make it through February. We get snow and gross up until the end of March here. But it’s 50F here today, so I suppose I can’t really complain 😉

Also…..I’m going to be cheering for the Broncos.

  12. I am SUCH A SNOW PERSON, and while most people are like “But you’re from Texas!”, I think that it’s BECAUSE I’m from Texas.<3 I did live in Germany for a few years, where the weather was like that of Chicago (not so much the Chiberia part, but for the most part, it is), so snow and ice isn't completely beyond me. I do like it less if I'm running in the white stuff that should've been shoveled, but it's so pretty, I forgive it.

I guess that can count as my random thought.:P

  13. My thought is usually just have to make it through January (b/c Feb. is short and goes by fast) and…….January is almost over so win/win!!

  14. Hahaha, gosh darn it, isn’t it terrible when you have to miss a race to get married?? 😉 Hate when that happens! I’ve run Shamrock before, it really is a great race! I wish I had been in better shape when I did it, it is a nice flat course for going fast on!

  15. This is kinda random… but I think you repeated a paragraph when you talked about the Panthers? BTW, we are totally rooting for the Panthers too, because… Charlotte NC!! And really Cam Newton is kind of a class act. I wasn’t a huge fan of him when he was in college but I like him a lot more now.

Glad you are back home and didn’t have much trouble with the roads. Good luck with Shamrock training, if I could do a destination race right now (le$$ money, fewer problem$) that would be on my radar.

  16. Now you “feel young again,” ha, love it! Aside from Jonas, we’ve been pretty lucky this winter. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the weather gods send one more snowstorm.
