Back to Reality Thoughts…

This last two weeks have been exhausting to say the least…a lot of people have asked how I’ve adjusted back from a very long “vacation and world revolving around me”.  In the cruise, everything we wanted and needed was taken care of…

I guess I can’t live on a ship forever…

Now we are back to real life and back to the harsh reality that the world does not revolve around me…kidding…

I decided to just compile random thoughts I’ve had lately.  I haven’t had a random post in a long time.

After a month of little to no routine, it’s been hard to readjust to a routine and working.  Not only readjusting but it’s a busy month for us at work.  If I’m slow to get back to you, I promise it’s not you…it’s me…but I’m not breaking up blogging world.  I’m still running, dinering and blogging…but I love my job and my job comes before blogging.  I just have a lot on my plate right now!

I went from 0-40 hours.  Thankfully I remembered what exactly a running shoe is.

This is a running shoe. Thanks google...you have the answer for everything.

My days off haven’t really been my days off.  There are a lot of items to take care after getting married.  After going to base last week and we realized we needed my new social security card, we wasted most of the day doing that.  So that day off was a doozy.  We finally got everything done though.

I’ve been working on my blog layout and design.  It’s not exactly where I would like it but it’s getting close.  I didn’t care for the previous design…if anyone is interested in helping, I would appreciate that.

Broad Street taught me that I have not run that fast in a while.  I’m so sore and taking time to recover.  My calves are not been this sore in a while (in a good way!)

Speaking of running, on Tuesday I took a nasty fall and got very scraped up.  I thought I had broken my arm (due to the amount of pain), plus I was bleeding badly.   Luckily I believe that it’s just bruised. It’s very unpleasant to the eyes though and I have no less than 8 bandaids on my hands, elbow, shoulder and knee.

My weekend lately has been Wednesday and Thursday and boy do I look forward to that.  By Tuesday I’m so exhausted my exhaustion has exhaustion.

Today is Thursday and after a very busy day yesterday (with no North Jersey success story), I am taking today completely to myself.  It’s going to be glorious.

  1. I always have such a hard time readjusting after a vacation, and that’s saying nothing about adjusting to married lit — that would probably take me even longer. But as hard as it can be to come back to “real life,” there’s a part of me that starts craving it when I’ve been gone for too long. I just start missing my routine.

  2. I’m in the same boat right now! I just got back from Brazil and don’t know whether I’m coming or going! Next week will hopefully be better.

  3. It’s definitely hard coming back to reality after vacation. In some ways, I like to just dive back into a routine because it kind of distracts you from the fact that you’re no longer on vacation, if that makes sense. But I totally feel you on the being exhausted thing. I didn’t even go on a real vacation last weekend while I was home but I still feel like I’m catching up.

  4. girl I feel you totally. I’m waiting for my body to just completely shut down from being constantly on the go. work has been swamped, moving, trying to have a social life, traveling for work… all while still staying in the gym. you said it best the other day–my coffee needs a coffee. ❤

  5. so hard getting back into the swing of things post vacay. usually, i have no choice though – immersion therapy, i guess 🙂 sorry to hear you took a fall but glad nothing is broken!

  6. Yo, work is getting crazy busy now. We’re going to be firing on all cylinders until … the NYC Marathon in November. Talk about an endurance sport! You’ll get back into the groove soon enough. It usually takes me about a week to settle in and remember the routine. 🙂

  7. Readjusting to real life after vacation takes me AT LEAST two full weeks before things start to feel routine again. I had about 10 days off between the time I left my last job and started my new one. I’m just hitting the two week mark and am finally feeling like I’m in a groove again.

Also – we’re twins! I ran into a stop sign (casual) on my run Monday and I thought I broke my elbow. But it seems to be okay, just super bruised, swollen and ugly. I have a cankle for an elbow.

  8. It definitely takes me awhile to readjust after a vacation. For one, I have to catch up on my big-girl job which can be pretty hard. I have people to cover my work for me but even then, I have to find out what they did, get status on release, etc. Hate to read about your fall but I’m glad you are okay. Even if it’s taking you awhile to recover from the 10 miler, you were still able to pull off a good time and of course, just returning to running from injury requires being pretty careful with mileage/distance/speed increase- but you’re really smart about it.

My running has taken a hit this week with work, but I will always be a professional at something other than running, so that’s just the way it has to be.

  9. Have a great day to yourself.!! you deserve it. Having too much on your plate can be exhausting. I know that too well.
and sorry about your fall. good thing you didn’t break anything.!!
    Take care 🙂

  10. As long as you remember your name and birthdate after vacation, you’re going to be okay. Lol Thankfully, the spill happened AFTER the wedding. it would be me walking down the aisle with scuff marks. I have so many scars… Damn tomboy childhood.

    Sooo… Wednesday/Thursday date at the omelet house? 🙂 🙂 🙂

  11. How do you readjust to real life after a vacation?
Hehe… ;-D Usually I sit around the house for about an hour and then realize that I’m not getting anything done. Then I start doing laundry.

It’s been raining here all week. Which is CRAZAY for Colorado.

  12. I have been so jealous of your cruise! I have never ever ventured off of the mainland. Maybe one day I’ll be able to go on a cruise or make a trip to Hawaii 🙂

  13. I haven’t gone on vacation in so long I’m not sure how to answer that question hahaa. But after the weekend, I like to get up and be productive early to get my body back into work mode. I’ll pay a bill or blog and that way I already have accomplished something so the day can only get better.

  14. Agh! I’m sorry to hear that you fell! That sounds horrible. I hope you are feeling better soon (it can’t have helped that you were already sore). I like that you say you’re sore in a good way though – I keep reminding myself that even though it sucks to be sore, the soreness is what eventually leads to improved fitness and faster times.

  15. So sorry to hear about your fall. Hope you have a speedy recovery. I can understand the adjustment back to reality. It can be hard, especially after looking back on an amazing trip!
