Wedding Wednesday

Have you ever had a goal race that you bombed for outside factors?

For instance you trained and tapered perfectly for a race but it was 90 degrees…obviously the weather you slowed you down and you didn’t set out for what you originally had planned for.

Well my friends, for Wedding Wednesday that is exactly how I felt last week. I drove down to Virginia only to have over half of my vendors cancel because they were sick.  Both T and I took time off of work to come down, yet we left not accomplishing everything we had hoped.

To say I’m frustrated is an understatement but no amount of complaining can change that.  So after coming to terms that we would not be meeting, we made the best of the situation.  It’s hard to plan a wedding out of town but even harder when you come into town and multiple meetings are canceled.

Luckily for me, my lovely hair stylist (who has done my hair since 7th grade) was able to make a last minute appointment.  She chopped off all of my dead ends (which was probably half of my hair at this point)

To be honest, I haven’t been to a lot of weddings.  I don’t know what I’m forgetting (or not).  I’m sure there are plenty of items…I’m frustrated, worried and nervous.  I know I shouldn’t be because it will all come together but right now it seems like a mess.

Things we were able to accomplish this week:

We were able to taste all our food.  I’m sure every bride says this but I really liked my food and I’m excited for that…so the more food for me, the better. We also tried our rehearsal dinner restaurant which was also delicious.  So basically our food is covered and I approve.

Is it just me or does everything for weddings get served in a martini glass?

I tried on my wedding dress (Hard to believe trying wedding dresses on was 8 months ago!) and took it home.  Every time I have tried on my dress during alterations it has fit the same (to me).  I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing but it fit well and I’m happy.  So that was a success too.

So what is left to do in the last few weeks?

  • We have all the little decorations. I could consult pinterest but I’m not that crafty.
  • Make sure everything is still on schedule and there are no surprises.

It’s hard to believe the wedding is less than 3 weeks away.  T and I are getting more and more excited to actually get married as each day passes.  We are not excited for all the little stressers coming with planning a wedding.

Mentally I’m very overwhelmed.  I have stayed rather calm through the entire process but I feel as each day counts down, I get more and more stressed.  I know it’s silly to be stressed over table layouts and small decorations…but I am.  It will all come together and I am grateful for my family and friend’s support.tim and I

Questions for you:

If you are married, what is something you forgot in the last few weeks?

What is the most crafty thing you have ever made?

  1. Ah Congratulations! I can’t believe it’s only 3 weeks away!! I’m not married but I’ve helped my sisters plan theirs, the best advice is to not sweat the small stuff. Random things are bound to come up on the big day but just brush it off and focus on what’s important. Make sure you’re music is all set though, we had a minor bump with that at my sisters wedding which slowed things down a bit 🙂

  2. Ahhhi remember the last month leading up to everything. I finally felt calm the week before and at that point I was like whatever happens, happens. Everyone kept asking why I was so calm on the day of and pretty much I said, um everything I can control is done and I”m just ready to get married! 🙂 Everything will turn our awesome. Can’t wait to see pictures

  3. We were lucky … nothing really problematic leading up to our wedding. We got married by Lisa’s parents (near Lake George NY) so we went up a week early to take care of final details.

There are decisions we would change looking back about logistics and such, but nothing major. We got ours videotaped by a ‘pro’ when it was the very early days of doing it … and there were VERY limited options in that area … at least we got it, and now transferred to DVD.

Just focus on the important thing (you and Tim) and don’t stress on the other stuff no one will remember 🙂

  4. Oh my gosh, it came so quickly! Enjoy these last few weeks as much as you can and have fun on the day!!!

  5. You are almost at go time–crazy! I am sure it will all come together perfectly, and if something is off, no one will know and you won’t need to stress! Just enjoy the day!

  6. I start getting way stressed the closer that something comes, too, so I can definitely relate to feeling mentally overwhelmed. And the worst part is that you know it’ll all be fine in the end and that you shouldn’t be stressing, but you can’t help it. I feel ya. But it really -will- all be perfect in the end. And the wedding is only a tiny piece of the entire puzzle — what’s more important is the life you’ll have with Tim -after- the big day 🙂

  7. Hang in there, girl! There is light at the end of the tunnel! The relief when it is over is palpable and you’ll be married!

  8. There is no such thing as a perfect wedding! Enjoy it!! No matter what, you’ll have a wonderful day and great stories to tell for years to come!

  9. It’s hard to believe it’s only a few weeks away but I could not be more excited for you! Frustrating that your vendors cancelled on your meetings while you were in town but I’m sure it’s going to work out just fine and you’re going to have a really amazing time. Besides, as long as there’s food and cake you can’t really go wrong 🙂

  10. I forgot how to cut the cake. Come time to at the wedding we looked frantically at our photographer who was standing right next to us ready to snap away and asked her how we do that. The most crafty thing I ever made were all the bouquets and boutonnieres. They were all kusudama origami flowers. It took months but they looked nice, and now I have my bridal bouquet forever.

  11. This is crunch time so being nervous makes a lot of sense. Just get to the wedding “taper,” and you’ll be set. 😉

  12. My mom and I took cake decorating classes before my wedding and my mom was making my cake herself. A few days before the wedding she dropped the cake and we had to start over! Because of that I forgot to pack for our honeymoon until the last minute which was the part of the wedding we were most excited for

  13. I cant believe it is only 3 weeks away. Im sorry there are stresses with the last few weeks coming up. I havent planned a wedding so not sure…..
I wish you guys all the best and I love pinterest but I KNOW it can be overwhelming. I use to for recipes mostly

  14. Hey Hollie! Super excited for you…just take it all in…it will be over before you know it. And wanted to tell you your hair looks great!!!

  15. So exciting that your wedding is just weeks away!! I own an event venue and work with lots of brides (and grooms:) – I always tell them that the main goal is to have fun through the whole process!!!
And, to answer the opening question – I just DNFed a race (a 50 miler) this past weekend because of outside conditions.

  16. I would be stressing out too. It almost seems like when something big happens, you need to stress a bit. It’s healthy. Almost like being nervous before a race is expected and good for you. Everything will be great and I cannot wait to see your dress! 🙂

  17. Every bride stresses over her wedding – it’s just what you do. Hopefully you will find that even if you forget something, it won’t matter because your (new) husband is there and all your closet friends and family and that’s all that matters!! Stop stressing and ENJOY! 🙂

  18. I’m so excited for you and I cannot believe its only weeks away! I have been stressing over the little details too, but it seems that they are all starting to come together. Leaning on my bridesmaids and family for help has been awesome! The biggest advice I’ve heard is to take a few minutes with Tim and just breath and soak it all in. Take time to pause and enjoy the moment.

  19. All this stress on your end makes me not not not want to have a reception if/when the time comes. Just a ceremony and then a low-key get together at a family member’s house seems good enough for me. Of course, I know the whole big wedding thing is really for the guests and not the couple and may be a necessary evil.

Regardless, I’m glad things are coming together for you in the final weeks and I hope you will be happy no matter what happens with the final preparations!

  20. Boooo – I’m sorry you weren’t able to accomplish everything you set out to get checked off in Va.

Gahhhhh That is so crazy an cool that you are going to be getting married so soon!!!!

Considering I am neither married nor have been to a ton of weddings, I have absolutely nothing useful to say other than that I am sincerely happy for you!
