Wedding Updates

My wedding is less than 100 days away.

wedding engagement

To say I am nervous is an understatement.

To say I’m excited is also an understatement.

Tim and I are both extremely happy together and we are both excited.  I love Tim, his family and the family I am going to be welcomed into. I know my family is also very excited to welcome Tim into our family.

When I went home at the end of 2014, I ended up getting a lot more wedding related items crossed off.  Since about half of my readers are personal friends and family (hello family who never comments but I know you are there!) I thought I would continue the wedding updates.

The biggest update is…we are still getting married!

What exactly did I do in Virginia wedding wise?

  1. I had my first wedding dress fitting. I still like my dress (good because that would be bad news if I didn’t).  My alterations are only going to cost 160 dollars (best wedding deal of the day).  I bought shoes so now all that is left is jewelry.  I want bdazalled blinged out bling and hoop earings…or something.
  2. I ordered invites. I hate wedding invitations.  They are pieces of paper to address and mail but they are done. They will be in the mail within the month.
  3. Tim and I booked a honeymoon. We are really excited for it.
  4. I touched base with a good portion of wedding vendors, etc. I need to make sure they are still on board with the wedding you know.

The most common questions are: Are you stressed? Are you a bridezilla? Are you tired of wedding planning?

The answer is no.  Like I said, I’ve gone to the first vendor recommended for each category. They’ve all done a great job.  I think planning a wedding is as stressful as you make it.  I’ve gone to the first wedding vendor and said the following: I have no idea what I want but you are an expert.  Each time they come back with really great ideas.

The wedding vendors are professionals, they have done this before.

I have not done this before.  It makes sense for me to utilize their wealth of information and knowledge about the industry.  Plus, I’m not trying to be stressed about our wedding.  It’s one big party.  I know if we were married within a few months it would be more stressful.   That is the reason we chose a year…so we can truly enjoy the process.

What is left to do:

I’m heading down to Virginia Beach the weekend of Shamrock.  Not for the race itself (except it works out that way) but to do final touches with all the vendors.  It’s hard to believe the last 9 months have flown by.  There are now less than 3 months until our wedding.

Cliff notes of wedding updates:

We are still getting married.

I touched base with a lot of the vendors and have started planning a lot more out.

  1. Hey Hollie, what a great post! I’m glad to see another bride nice and relaxed about the whole thing 🙂 I’m quite recently engaged so just have my venue booked so far but looking forward to taking it easy over the next year and a bit to plan the rest! Flowers are something I’m clueless about – I love a traditional and classic white rose bouquet, but then a splash of colour is always nice 🙂 Have you chosen yours yet?

    1. I have actually. I just told my florist my colors and he chose the flowers. It looked good to me but I couldn’t tell you what types of flowers are in there.

  2. I don’t really remember what kind of flowers I had either. I guess I could look back at pictures. It’s funny what you remember and what you don’t remember a few years later… I do remember that we went out for ice cream that night, tho.

It seems like you’re pretty relaxed and calm about the wedding which is a good thing, really no point in people being bridezilla’s about it.

  3. I can’t to hear all about the wedding!!! And see the dress! I totally hated my dress after I tried it on after alterations. I thought the fit was terrible so they worked on it tons more times till I thought it was okay! I do have a shot at the end of the wedding though where it looks like my boobs are about to fall out, but 1/1000 pictures is okay, I guess. I used Etsy for jewelry and I LOVED my necklace!!!

  4. This is all so exciting–can’t wait to see pictures, you’re going to be a beautiful bride!
The more I see people around me get married and how much money/stress goes into it the more I want to just go elope. I’m easy, I want a nice ring, nice dress and red velvet cake…. 🙂

  5. I have not been married yet but when it does happen for me I can only hope to keep my cool like you have!

My sister’s wedding was huge and quite a bit stressful although she was never bridezilla, I definitely was super stressed lol.

    Congrats!

  6. You know I’ve been a bit stressed lately, but I’ve let people help me and its made the world of difference. I’m thankful to have great friends and family who LOVE to help and do wedding things.

My favorite wedding flower is hydrangeas. I think they are beautiful and soft and I’m totally biased because they are my flowers.

  7. Yay! It will be here before you know it. I can’t remember what was the most stressful thing about wedding planning for me because I found a venue that just did everything for me. Oh, I mis-scheduled my tasting and ended up being an hour late, but they were very accommodating.

I got a lot of stuff from Etsy, like a personalize aisle runner. I cut off the end of it and hung it in our apartment after the wedding. It’s a really nice decoration from the day.

  8. “I think planning a wedding is as stressful as you make it. ” <– Love this. And I think it's true of anything in life. It's as stressful as we make it… which is actually something that I constantly have to remind myself of because I have a nasty habit of getting caught up in the details and making things a lot more complicated than they need to be, when really… most of it is pretty simple. Glad you're having such an easy time planning your wedding 🙂

  9. I’ve never planned a wedding but I love going to bridal showers! My favorite flower is a purple lilac…so that’s what I would have in my bouquet

  10. Daisies are my favorite!! 🙂 I let the floral person pick almost everything though, because one of the things I care least about is flowers. They know what works so I let them do it and everyone gave us compliments on them… I am soooo excited for you, I know how fast it goes so soak it up. (i know you’ve heard that a million times).

  11. Woo hoo! I am glad to hear all is going well! I am with you on not being a bridezilla. Everyone kept asking me if I was sooo stressed out, and I just wasn’t. I was excited. Least stressful part: getting married. Most stressful: telling my parents I didn’t want alcohol at the wedding and picking a date. My wedding flowers were hydrangeas, as per the suggestion of the florist, haha!

  12. I’m excited for you!!! The last few months of planning will fly by and, before you know it, you will be enjoying the day you planned so long for. The best part of the wedding is really the amazing marriage and family that follows. I love that you’re just getting started!!
