Thursday Thoughts: Random as (insert curse word here)

I guess the title makes it more PG right?  I think when Amanda decided she was going to do a thinking out loud link up…she meant for it be a random collection of thoughts.  I am random and these are some thoughts I’ve had this week (after gathering them from my twitter).  Plus I haven’t done a Throwback Thursday in a while so I thought I would include that too.

This week has been a random week of getting back into the groove (after my homecation) and trying to clean up my house.  To be honest, I’ve gotten back into the work groove easily but getting my house clean has been another story.

It has been extremely chilly on the East Coast.  I’m not complaining, it’s just a fact.  I’m lucky that I’m taking a mileage cut week for running. I had planned to run about 40 miles last week but with my shake out run and long run, I was still at 160.  Therefore this week I committed to taking a lot of recovery days.  It’s always better safe than sorry. I will probably go run on the treadmill in a bit actually.

I’m making a trip to Upstate New York in a few weeks to visit some of my best friends.  I’m really excited for the adventures but not for the cold.  While I did go to school up in the tundra, since moving away I feel more and more like a baby.  Heck I don’t even like 30 degrees anymore (where I went to school there were a few -30 degree days).  I always feel bad for my friends up that way.

Speaking of running, I updated my tentative 2015 racing schedule.  If you are doing any of the races, please let me know! I love to meet up and hang out with people.  I’ve been needing to clean up LOLZ blog.  I’m going to update my racing page, diner page and other random pages in the near future.  Blogging is so stressful and hardwork (LOLZ).

This is what I look like racing (as drawn a year ago).

On a very random note, this is a pretty cool article.  I’m not a football fan but these people were scammed 500 dollars for Broncos play off tickets.  One of my personal friends Kevin B gave them his tickets.  I already knew Kevin was a seriously incredible individual but this proves it even more.  He is a great individual and runner.  Words cannot express how awesome Kevin is and this random act of kindness proves it even more.

Finally for throwback Thursday (I haven’t done one in ages) here are some relative January photos:

Last January, I pretended to skiiing...when in reality I saw inside with my future inlaw and drank coffee. (But I supported T and his dad...so it counts)

So that is my random thoughts of the week.  I don’t think you feel anymore or less enlightened since spending a few minutes browsing LOLZ blog but happy Thursday.  Enjoy your day.

Questions for you:

What were you doing in January 2011?

What is a random musing week?

  1. Ugh in January 2011 I had a 4 and 1 year old and I’m sure was tired and struggling. I like your January 2011 better. That wink photo is GREAT! I would frame that for people as a gift with a fun caption like “I’m always here for you” or one to hang by your morning mirror “You’re looking good today!” hahaha! Oh I need a life.

  2. In January 2011 I ran my first half marathon. My time was 2:08. I got really sick the week after. It’s so amazing to think that was 4 years ago and how now I’m running another half this January.

I remember when you went to college in upstate NY and used to swim and do XC for the college and always thought it was so cool you managed to balance all of that with academics. Guess I have been reading for a long time, hehe. Be safe traveling up there and seeing friends and have fun!

  3. I love your take on random thoughts…as in, ‘I am random, here are some thoughts.’ I would plagiarize the concept and start a whole ‘Random Thoughts Thursday’ movement, but it doesn’t have quite the same alliterative ring as ‘TOL’ Thursdays.

We’re more at the 30 than the -30 end of things. Cold in and of itself doesn’t bother me at all. I don’t think I ever really felt cold until the winter of 2010, and even then I wasn’t too bothered unless it literally did go below -30. If only it was a dry kind of cold that didn’t mess up all the available running surfaces…then I would love the winter!

I had to go back and look at January 2011 in my blog archives because all the years seem to blur into one another. It happens when you get old 😛 I was in the same precarious emotional state as now, but that kind of goes with the territory for me because I’m a royal mess every single winter.

  4. In a dress.!? That is so hardcore. And you even won.! Yea I don’t think I could do that…
January of 2011 I was finishing up my senior year of high school. Feels like it was just yesterday. . Weird. I like your randoms

  5. January 2011 — hmmm I was in my junior year of college @ UCF, probably starting classes back up.. party my buns off because well.. it was college.

This week has been lame sauce for me — back to work UGH!

  6. Happy Thursday! I know exactly what you mean about getting back in the groove of cleaning. Ugh! It’s so hard for me too for some reason, haha. And I totally remember when you went to Puerto Rico in 2011 for swimming! I was so jealous of that warm weather (but not of all the yards you guys had to swim!).

  7. January 2011? Geeeez, girl! I can barely remember what I was doing yesterday… never mind 4 years ago 😛 It was probably cold, though, as Januarys always tend to be. We had a few -30 days last week, and I think it got down to something like -36 with the windchill. That’s when it hurts to breathe 😯

  8. You’re heading to Upstate NY? Brave soul. I talked to my mom last night, and she said it was in the single digits. Yuck! It will still be nice to see friends, though. My college BFF came to the city yesterday, and we grabbed lunch–catching up is the best!

  9. Junior year of college! Seriously, time flies after high school. I think during the month of January I was going to a bunch of Michigan State basketball games!

  10. Yup, those -30 days make you wonder how it was possible you even survived them. Those are the days I vote for pyjamas and hot coffee until noon. Because responsibilities don’t exist when it’s that cold. 😉

  11. I like your throwbacks! I hate the cold and can’t believe I ever lived up north at all! I froze for half my drive to work today and hated it! I had no idea how upstate Potsdam was! Totally not what I thought! That’s like WAAAAAY north! Be safe heading up there!

  12. January 2011 I had a two year old, an eight month old and found out I was pregnant again! Needless to say, I got a tubal ligation after that 🙂

  13. In January 2011 I worked at Mann Library at Cornell University where I hiked up a mile ice sheet to get there everyday. It was not the funnest way to spend my inter semester…but I did have my first apartment so that was AWESOME! A random musing, it may be in the single digits outside…but I am eating ice cream. I’m cold, yet very satisfied at the same time. Winning!
