Because I’m Crafty…

The last two weeks have flown by.  I didn’t think I could keep myself anymore busy than normal but it is possible.  I love it though.  I’m the type of person that likes to stay relatively busy but not overwhelming.  I still need my own personal time each day but don’t like to sit in my house for hours on end.  For me having an hour or two at night to dewind is perfect.

With that being said I’ve had a lot of fun lately (not limited to work).  I’ve had the pleasure of going to two new diners (I’ll be sharing reviews soon).

First I ate at the Princetonian diner with Oiselle teammate Greta.  Greta is currently preparing for her next marathon in two weeks.  I cannot wait to see how she does!  We had a lot of fun and it was nice to catch up.  It had been far too long.

The guy said "cheese" and I am cheesing hard. Awkward.

Then I finally got to hang out with Erin.  We went to the Metro Diner.  The diner is not in the best area of town and I wasn’t sure where I was taking her but I was glad it ended up being good.  I should actually drive by before chosing diners.

Work is work so not too many updates with that. I enjoy it and I know I made the right move for me.

I’ve also become quite crafty.  Of course things seem to break when god knows I don’t know how to fix them.

Case and point #1: My internet modum (maybe router…who knows) died earlier in the week.  I thought the typical power off and on would fix it but it didn’t.  I was on the phone with the Comcast people for close to an hour.  During that time I realized I talk way too much.  I carried on conversation about the tech reps life including where he was from, his previous job, kids, etc.  It’s like I ended the conversation with a new friend…and internet.

Case #2:  Some sort of water started leaking in my basement.  I thought it was flooding but somehow (I really don’t know) managed to stop the leak.  I had only gone down in the basement once before so I’m glad I didn’t get lost down there.  (You would know if you saw an absense on my social media 😉

So yeah I’m practically good at fixing all the problems now.

People have asked me how I’m doing frequently and I cannot thank everyone for their support.  I’m doing really well and honestly I’m keeping myself busy with work, hanging with friends and chatting with family and loved ones.  Yes, it is hard but focusing on postive experiences and fun times with friends has really gotten me through.  I could not ask for a better support system and friend network.  You guys are the best.

Questions for you:

What have you been up too lately?

Are you a handy/crafty person?

  1. i’m uber crafty!!! I love planning parties and do everything myself… Ella had an Alice in Wonderland Themed bday party and I did EVERYTHING… it was amazing…. I also bedazzled ellas converse and made all her headbands…lol… it’s like therapy for me… I love it ALMOST as much as running…

  2. When I read the title of this I thought you were going to say you started bedazzling things while Tim was away…

Short story about life right now – I quit my job. My last day is Friday. My parents are visiting from NY this weekend. I’m running a half on Sunday and haven’t ran further than 10 miles in the last month. Oops.

  3. 1. I am in love with your eyebrows. Like seriously. 2. The most crafty I get is putting (pink zebra print) duct tape on something and hoping it works out LOL

  4. Bravo to you for being able to fix both of those problems! I feel like I’ve gotten less handy since I met my husband. Growing up I was the oldest of all girls so I ended up doing the traditional “boy” duties (carrying heavy things with my dad, killing spiders, solving problems when things broke) but after I met Henri I started deferring to him for those things.. I’ve gotten lazy, haha!

  5. I LOVE being crafty, but I hate the mess it makes! Lately I’ve been taking it outside, where I can just close the blinds when I don’t want to see it anymore. Building flower boxes and shiz, power tools are my friends! 🔨

  6. Growing up my dad had only us girls to contend with so lets just say we did everything from landscaping to chopping wood to dealing with the farm animals. My willingness to get dirty, do the heavy lifting and find resolutions works well because I work in Operations and half the time I find myself dealing with facilities issues – we have water leaking on a weekly basis (indoor rain showers as we fondly call them) and yesterday was dealing with construction and pieces of cement falling and possible asbestos exposure. NEVER a dull moment and always fun running around in emergencies in high heels and dresses 🙂

  7. good for you for getting those problems fixed and making a friend out of it! haha! I am totally not a crafty person…not even a little bit. i cant even pretend to me. i wish i was tho, i really do. what have i been up to lately? hmmm well i am taking a new job up in north jersey and moving my life to hoboken soon…so a little stressed i guess you could say…but in a good way. i have also been experimetning with different types of runs for training and really paying attention to pace and HR. I am gearing up to start marathon training on monday…running the lehigh valley this year.

question for you… Nike+ GPS sportswatch … my paces are so off. it says i am running much faster than i actually am. i had garmin in the past but it was years ago and i forget how they compare to nike+. any insight on this? on why nike is off…when i say off..i mean like it said 7:13 and i was running 7:37. lol. its already right at the end tho. also- is garmin better? just was curious what you thought about this because you are a very seasoned runner wtih lots of knowledge! so i respect your opinion 🙂

  8. I laughed out loud at this :It’s like I ended the conversation with a new friend…and internet. hahaha i love chatting with those people! they get so happy when you actually nicely chat rather than being angry.

I like to think that I’m a pretty handy person- only because I don’t like buying new things so I like attempting to fix anything and everything that breaks!

  9. You’re looking at a girl who calls her dad the second something in her place starts acting or sounding funny, so no… definitely not all that handy 😆 And it’s great to hear that you’ve been doing well! You do seem genuinely happy and you have a gorgeous smile to show for it 🙂

  10. Definitely good to keep yourself busy. Currently just working, taking care of kids, and starting marathon training.

I think I’m pretty handy. If anything needs to be fixed, repaired, or modified, I try to do it myself first before I pay someone else to do it. Been pretty successful thus far.

  11. I love that you also don’t know the parts of your computer. I could never understand why NOBODY could connect to wireless in my house (I use a desktop) before. I was like, “But I have a router!” Apparently I have some router thing that just hooks into my computer and then you also need a wireless router. So when I got my stupid wireless router thing home, I was so excited to throw my old one out, and then Jon told me that for the wireless one to work, I still needed the other box thing. What..?! $100 later and all I was doing was buying something for HIS computer (we weren’t dating)?!

  12. Yes!! So happy we finally met up 🙂 That picture came out really well, too!

I’m not a crafty fix-it type person at all… I can follow directions from someone on the phone, but that’s about it, haha.
