A Fun Survey..

I don’t know the last time I did survey.  Thank you to teammate Rachel and also Kinetic Fix (and possibly some more people?) for tagging me in the Liebster survey award.  I always find it rather interesting to find out more about other bloggers.  I’m normally just a little bit too lazy to post it myself.

How did you choose your blog name?

A long time ago (2012), my was called lolzthatswim(andrun)…then I quit swimming so instead of being a dirty liar I became fueled by lolz.  LOLZthatswim sounded really awkward and looked worse.  Not that fueledbylolz doesn’t sound weird but it stuck.  I am always laughing and smiling and don’t really know how to fuel myself otherwise…
What is your favorite thing to write about?

I enjoy writing about running.  I know I’m incomprehensible at times but I do enjoy writing about things that interest me…whether it’s (currently) running, lolz, real life or pretending to plan a wedding.  I don’t have an exact topic that interests me the most which is probably why my posts are Russian Roulette and you never really know what you’ll get.
Why did you start blogging?

I wanted to chronicle my life as a college student who swam and just started a new journey with running. I didn’t know what to expect with running and just wanted to post and being able to look back and reflect.  I wanted to be able to look back and see what I did (or stopped doing I guess).  I began this blog as a college swimmer and am now a post collegiate engaged runner.

What kind of workout makes you feel the best after it is all over?

Any race makes me feel good (when it’s done) and I have yet to find a workout that does the same thing.
What has been your proudest racing memory/moment?

I think winning the Plattsburgh half marathon in 2012.  It was the first time I’ve ever won a half marathon and also the first race I can say I truly exceeded all expectations I had.  I went from a 1:33 half marathon to a 1:27.

Why did you start running/triathlons?

For a long sleeve tshirt.  I highlighted that here.
What is your “A” race or biggest fitness goal for 2014?

I have two A goals.  One was to PR in the half marathon (which I did at Atlantic City).

The other is to redeem myself and run an awesome full marathon.
Name 5 songs on your iPod?

I don’t ever use an ipod and just use my pandora on my phone. I will tell you I love top 40 music and grimey rap music.  Generally any mainstream rap and pop is good for me.  I also like Fleetwood Mac and a few other bands for lounging around.  When it comes to running, I enjoy rap and pop.
What is your favorite race and why?

My favorite race would have to be Shamrock in VA Beach.  Although it is pretty expensive, they have a great afterparty and the cost (in my opinion) is really worth it.  They treat you well.  I would 100% recommend the Shamrock race series to anyone.  This isn’t my favorite because of my times or personal races but how well it’s put together.  I would have to say that Atlantic City half marathon does a similarly good job.

If you could give your 16-year old self a piece of advice, what would it be?

Life is not going to be streamlined.  That high school boyfriend you had is probably not true love.  Follow your heart and live in the moment.  Nothing you do in the next 5+ years is set in stone and never take a single moment for granted.  Enjoy each moment and don’t be afraid to take risks.  It’s okay to change your mind.  It’s okay to try and then fail.  It’s okay to try, be successful and brag.  Be humble. There is always someone better than you.  You are not perfect and never will be. Your family is always by your side.  Life changes.  Life moves on.  Above all others won’t be happy for you if you aren’t happy for yourself.

I really struggled to tag some bloggers.  I know so sad, so little friends…Anyone who wants to take this survey should.  Who am I to restrict you?

Questions for you:

If you have never commented introduce yourself and talk about your goal (whether it’s a life goal or race goal) in 2014.

If you have commented then still talk about your 2014 goal.

  1. 2014 goal is the PR my 10k race next week and PR my half marathon in October! Also, I love that advice, wish I had it at 16. Life isn’t streamlined and if I had known, it would have saved me from a lot of emotional pain when I started university

  2. My goals for this year were to reach a sub 50 10km and a sub 1:50 half. I almost grasped the 50 this past weekend so I’m going to be pushing myself hard this next weekend. Hopefully making my other goal by July then onto some more challenging goals!

  3. Well for my 2014 goal I hope to go sub 20 in the 5K or die trying. I’ll training hard during the summer and set my schedule up for September thru November to give myself the best shot at doing it. A my long shot goal is to win my first race but I know everything will have to fall just perfectly for that one.

      • Thank you! I’m pretty sure I’m going to run the half marathon in Budapest, although it’s not until September. But I’m worried I’ll be so busy looking at the scenery, I won’t be able to focus on running as fast as I can!

  4. I enjoy your blog. It’s been motivating me to go after my 2014 goal which is to race both a half and full marathon. I’ve been a runner for 18 years and since HS haven’t raced. I’m afraid of disappointing myself. Reading your blog is inspiring me. Thank you!

  5. I might have to do this survey… my goal right now is a sub-45 10K and I would also like a sub-22 5K. I like reading the surveys and seeing your answers and remember when you were lolzthatswimandrun too!

  6. I actually was going to nominate you for this award too but then I got halfway done with the post and saved it as a draft and there it sits… In draft land. I was going to post it but then I thought of having to go back and notify people that I nominated and it seemed like too much. Haha. I’m lazy. I like that picture of you at the Plattsburgh 1/2. I have no goals for 2014. Manage to keep going to the gym and start traveling! Maybe run a 1/2 still if I can start running more again when I’m in Boston!

  7. The advice you would have given your younger self is the same kind of advice that I would have given mine… even though I know she wouldn’t have listened 😆 Anywho, I always enjoy reading these surveys about blogger friends, so I’m glad you decided to fill it out 🙂 A goal for me in 2014 is to finally set up my health coaching business and expand my blog. Baby steps.

  8. My goal is to be conscious enough of recovery that I can stay injury-free the rest of the year and build a solid base through the summer. I want to run a marathon next spring, but right now I have basically no base sooo that is #1 on the list.

  9. My “A” goal this season is to do as well as possible at my “A” race–AG Nationals in August. And that means doing the little things right like staying injury free, training hard *and* smart, and staying focused and dialed in.

  10. I like that you asked people who haven’t commented to put something! To get to know those who read, but don’t comment is a great idea! 2014 is about being happy! Have a happy body, mind, and kiddo. THe whole package 😛

  11. My goal is to complete my first full marathon, and to break 1:45 in the half marathon.. while staying healthy through training!

  12. Your advice to your past self is awesome! And Travis and I are thinking about Shamrock next year!

I’m not trying to set goals for myself until after the wedding…maintaining my weight and sanity is just about it right now! Gotta fit in that dress haha

  13. I love that pic of you, finishing the Plattsburgh HM! You look so happy. 🙂

My goal for 2014 is to update some of my PRs. I haven’t “raced” since 2012, so they’re all pretty stale. I’m just finding it really tough to get into shape, after running for fun, for so long.

  14. This was fun to read! I love your advice for your 16 year old self. I can relate to that SO much, especially the part about life not being streamlined!
