Some Life and Some Reads

Wow have I been busy this week!  I am glad that it’s Friday though.  It’s time to relax this weekend.  I obviously have had a lot going on this week.  Actually being busy makes me thankful for the small amounts of time down time lately.  I know I took it for granted previously.

Something I’ve been meaning to talk about since last week:

mezoomanapavalley

Remember when I was trying to win a trip to Napa Valley and spammed everyone for a month?  My runner up prize came last week and I received a nice sweatshirt from Another Mother Runner as well as their book called “Train like a Mother”.

Zooma also offered me a free entry to any of their races, however, with the exception of one possibility I can’t do any. (All of them are too far for travel and the Annapolis race in May is the same weekend as something else I have going on).  Since Oiselle was one of the sponsors of the contest, I get a giftcard to them too.  I’m downright giddy thinking about that.

This has been probably one of the best weeks I’ve ever had in my life.  I am still processing actually being engaged.  I cannot thank everyone for their support and love along the way.  I know a lot of my “real life” friends and family read my blog and I always appreciate your comments, texts and blessings!  Tim said he couldn’t imagine how much social media I go through because when we announced it via facebook, it was blowing up.  He is always amazed at the amount of data I use on twitter.

In other news that made my week fabulous: I received my tax refunds thanks to a free efile program I found, had a solid week of training and treated myself to getting my nails done. I’ve only gotten my nails done twice in my life so I thought this was a good excuse too.  (once again ignore my manly swimmer hands…once a swimmer always a swimmer I guess…)

  1. This weekend I am running the Cherry Blossom 10-miler. I also get my nails done every 2 weeks. It’s a nice treat.

  2. Congrats once again on the engagement and your ring is beautiful!!!!

Omg, this weekend I’m doing back to back races… half on Saturday and 5k Sunday… should be interesting and lets hope I make it through to blog about it on Monday… lol! I’m kind of siked, clearly I love putting myself through torture!

In the winter, I get mani’s once a month but in the summer I neglect my hands because I can’t resist a hot stone pedi…. speaking of which I will be treating myself to both WHEN I finish on Sunday!!!!

  3. I never get my nails done because I chip them like immediately! I actually love getting pedicures but my runner’s feet are just… Gross. Congrats again – I’m so happy for you and thank you for linking back to my post yesterday! Hooray for the weekend – even though I don’t work 9-5, things still calm down around here, and the break is lovely!

  4. Wow, such an exciting week! I hope you have some time this weekend to just soak it all in and enjoy it. Your nails look great and you definitely deserve the treat. I have horrible, really soft nails so the only time I had them done was years ago when I tried fake nails. I do try to treat myself to a pedicure once or twice a year which is badly needed from running.

  5. I am going to Charleston, SC this weekend to run the Cooper River Bridge 10k! I can’t wait. I rarely get my nails done. I usually go to the $10 mani – nothing fancy, when I do. I love Bubble Bath by OPI right now! I love love love pedicures though.

  6. I’m excited for the Paris Marathon this weekend (even though I’ll be following it from almost 4,000 miles away). And I don’t get my nails done very often 🙂

  7. I love the 13.1 Another Mother Runner shirt you’re wearing. The authors are coming here to Fleet Feet Mt. Pleasant to speak next week and I am attending, I’m really excited about it. So it’s neat that you’re blogging about it. Sorry you can’t do the Zooma race but it still looks like you got some great prizes being a runner up, especially gift cards.

This weekend I am going to BodyPump tomorrow… hanging out and doing lunch with a friend today… then running on Sunday and brunch with some friends. Good times!

  8. I think it’s fabulous that you treated yourself to a nail date. I get really cheap towards myself in all areas of my life (minus food and running stuff) so the occasional nail appointment feels like I am getting ready for a ball or something haha. With that being said, I get mine done maybe once or twice in a year…! This weekend I plan on catching the move Noah starring Emma Watson, running some miles, and relaxing since I got ahead on my exams!

  9. Sci-Fi movies and rest for me this weekend, annnnnd I get my nails did about once a month hahaha … joke! Just kidding Hollie lol 🙂

  10. i have NO idea what I’m up to this weekend! also i’ve probably gotten my nails done 3x in my life… pedicure once. not a fan of other people doing my nails! i’m too ticklish. at-home manicures are my jam! your nails look great with that RING! 🙂

  11. Getting my nails done is a splurge, too. I do both feet and hands when I go…I used to go every three months but I’ve had to cut back. I’m going next week for my sister’s wedding, however, and quite looking forward to it!

Also, save your Oiselle gift card for the swimwear! The sneak peeks look SOOO good!

  12. Aw darn! I’m so bummed that you have a commitment already for Annapolis! That’s the one I’m doing and I would have loved to meet you!! So, so, so glad things are going well for you 🙂 I still can’t get over how beautiful your ring is!

  13. Congrats all around!! 🙂 I hardly ever get my nails done either, they look lovely for a day or two and then start getting roughed up!

  14. Your ring is so beautiful and the nails complement it perfectly! Of course, that’s in my EXPERT opinion… I’ve never had my nails done and I can’t even remember the last time I painted them. xD

Nothing special this weekend for me–my running club is in Indiana for NIRCA track nationals but I stayed home and I’ll be volunteering at a local 5k early Sunday morning. Other than that, I should probably do my taxes lol…

    Have an awesome weekend!

  15. Hollie, Hollie, Hollie…wow girl! Your ring is beautiful. It fits your personality (or at least your blogging personality) perfectly!

  16. Congrats again, and it’s so great that you’re doing so well, and so happy! Always nice to read posts like these.

I NEVER get my nails done, and I clip my fingernails frequently.

As you know, I’m headed to STL this weekend, and I wish you all of the luck in AC, may your new PR be huge!
