Vicentown Diner Review

Right now you could say this is in my top 3 favorite diners and restaurants.  We go once a week as a special treat.  It’s only 15 minutes away, and if we go early enough, it’s never crowded.  Don’t come after six though or you’ll be waiting for a while.

The Vincentown Diner located in Vicentown, NJ is a relatively unknown but deliscious diner.

This is one of the “upscale diners” that you don’t expect from NJ unless you live here.  Plus the Vincentown Diner is one of my favorite restaurants in New Jersey, so I can’t bypass it.  It is an upscale restaurant with two separate rooms and a bar.  One room has a bar and one room does not.  I’ve sat in both several times different times.  I enjoy the seating with the bar, though.

This is my favorite coffee for two reasons.  One it’s always brewed well and comes in a giant cup.  Two, when I get whipped cream, they put a lot.  It’s perfect.  I have no complaints about this coffee and will probably order it every single time. I find it strange they charge 75 cents per whipped cream but to me, it’s worth it.   coffeewhipcream

Currently, my favorite meal is the special salad with spinach, Gorgonzola cheese, walnuts, and strawberries.  I also get the salmon addition.  Although the salmon is an extra 10 dollars ($$$$), it is worth it. It’s local and always cooked well.

Here is my staple there. Salmon salad with pita bread.

I’ve also had a few other of their salads as well as salmon meals.  I’ve never had a bad meal there and neither have my parents, Tim’s parents and I think Sarah liked her meal too.

Tim and I almost always get dessert here.  Since the dessert is homemade and I can’t cook, it’s worth it.  Though I don’t have photos of every single thing we have tried we have tried: Red velvet cake, chocolate chip cheese, white raspberry cheesecake, apple cranberry crumble, bread pudding, banana cream pie and the ice cream.  (wow that is a lot!).  My favorite is the red velvet cake. My favorite cake is red velvet so it makes sense.

Cost: $$$$$ (most expensive diner)

The only downside of this diner is the cost. For the majority of the meals, it’s 20 dollars a plate.   The food portions are huge, and the food is delicious.  So while it’s expensive the food is filling and high quality.

Overall impression:

Except for price, I have nothing bad to say about the diner.  The food is delicious, big portions and the atmosphere is great.  Since the diner is so close, it’s hard for me to get motivated to try other diners because I’m always comparing them to this one.

Overall: A

Question for you: What is your favorite local restaurant?

  1. I have two…. My lunch place is called Partners Pub! They make their own chips and they are amazing! We had lunch there yesterday and my entire meal was under 10:) My fav dinner place is called Sams seafood and steak! I’m obsessed with their apps-ginger beef satays and bistro style calamari…. Both under 10 (ea) and I have eaten both as a meal bc there is so much food:) All this talk about food is making me hungry!!!

  2. I definitely enjoyed my meal! Any hot chocolate that comes with a mountain of whip cream is good in my opinion 🙂 now I want to go back and try the red velvet cake lol! Maybe when I make the torturous drive back to New Hampshire in May.

  3. We have a small chain called northstar cafés around the city I live in and they are great! They serve all fresh and organic foods and although the price is a little high the portion size makes up for it!

  4. This diner looks great, definitely not typical diner food and the salad with salmon on it looks absolutely delicious :). Red velvet cake is one of Clay’s favorites too, but I would probably go for that coffee with the giant bunch of whip cream on the top.
