I am Boring.

It’s actually hard for me to believe it’s Friday.  I don’t remember the last time I had life updates post so I thought I would start there.  Can you believe it’s the last day of January?

In summary: life is good.

I haven’t done too much exciting this week.  I wish I could tell you I did but alas I’m still in limbo land.  I made a trek up to see Danielle and Amelia to get lunch on Wednesday which was much needed and a lot of fun.  After my phone nearly dying and taking a scenic tour through Rutgers, I decided I should probably buy a car phone charger so I didn’t end up driving to Texas.

I forgot to take a photo. So in proper blogging technique I will reuse this one. Left to right: LOLZ, Danielle, Amelia and Ashley (also known for her incredible Running Bun...which I have witnessed it first hand)

I wish I could tell you I had other highlightable moments but I haven’t this week. Low key weeks are never bad though. Just like everyone else on the East Coast I whined about the cold weather and wished it was over.  I guess that is what adulthood is all about these days.

This is from December...but snow is the same...

This is from December…but snow is the same…

I saw this on another blog (Alex I believe?) and I thought it was a cool idea.  I feel I pour my guts into this blog and I don’t know much about a lot of my readers.  Some people know more about me then they wish they ever did and yet I know very little.  So everyone should comment below and answer the questions.  If you are a first time commenter, if you are a 100th time commenter or if you are bored and need to waste about 2 minutes.

Oh and don’t forget to vote to send me to Napa.  How could I forget to spam your feeds with that information?

lolzfornapa2

Also FueledbyFuel is proud (as am I) of his campaign button for Napa.  He really works hard to make these beautiful pieces of artwork.  I tell him he should have gone to my liberal arts college for a art degree versus getting his engineering degree…

Do you have any February Plans or Goals?

 ————

Just because I like to play my own games:

Where were you born? San Diego, CA

What is the most unique place you’ve been? I would either say Japan or England.  (Dad was in the Navy)

What is your favorite type of workout? (running, yoga, p90x..) PRing in a running race would be my favorite

What is your favorite food? I would have say either (eel) sushi, salmon or red velvet cake.

What are your plans this weekend? I am doing a 4 mile race I believe.  Other then that I doubt too much exciting!

Do you have any February Plans or Goals?  I am traveling back to VA Beach February 14th and then Syracuse February 22nd.  February 23rd is when the Lake Effect half marathon is and February 24th is when voting for Napa Valley ends!  (Wow that is going to be a whirlwind week beforehand!).  I would like to get my hands on some faster runner in February.  A PR in ANYTHING would be nice but I’m not sure I’m in that shape yet.   Staying consistent and uninjured is always my goal of the month.

  1. Where I was born- Springfield,MA. Still residing in MA, and I agree, I am so sick of the cold. We are gearing for a heatwave though this weekend. It may hit the 40’s. Woot! LOL.

Most unique place I’ve been too- I haven’t traveled much but I did go to Poland twice and I LOVED Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Favorite workout- Running hands down. I just picked up swimming this year to have as a backup for when I’m injured and actually enjoy it now. I never learned how all these years and lessons were such a great investment. You are never too old to learn how to swim. 🙂

Plans for the weekend- Lots of walking as I’m still recovering from injury. I hope to spend time with family and friends too. I also love going out to breakfast on the weekends so I will most definitely do that. Studying of course too.

February goals- To continue to walk through my injury and get stronger through physical therapy so that I can run soon.

  2. Where were you born? Florence SC

What is the most unique place you’ve been? I went to a museum of health oddities when I was in Philly. It was called the Mutter museum. Full of crazy stuff but I really liked it.

What is your favorite type of workout? (running, yoga, p90x..) running short distance (8 miles or less).

What is your favorite food? Veggie pizza (thin crust, lots of sauce, light cheese, covered in veggies) and a good salad on the side.

What are your plans this weekend? 5K race in the morning, then food truck rodeo with Clay. Sunday is the super bowl, super bowl party. yay!

Do you have any February Plans or Goals? Eh, I’d like to PR in the 10K, think I may do one on Feb. 22. Besides that, just have fun and stay warm.

Looks like you had a fun week having lunch with friends, I love getting together with people for lunches or meals, it’s a nice change from the usual being here at the house all day. I hope you stay warm with the snow and everything. I think we are all allowed to complain a bit 🙂

  3. I am boring, too. 🙂

Where were you born? Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

What is the most unique place you’ve been? I have been a lot of places in my life. The farthest away and one of the most unique places was New Zealand.

What is your favorite type of workout? (running, yoga, p90x..) I am a runner, and I love a great run. (However, in order to be a better, heathier runner I need to embrace some other kinds of workouts.)

What is your favorite food? Good BBQ. And donuts. Not together, of course, and in rare doses.

What are your plans this weekend? A Saturday long run and (hopefully) watching the Denver Broncos win the Super Bowl on Sunday. Go Broncos!!

Do you have any February Plans or Goals? Stay healthy. Stay close to my running plan, as much as my job will let me do at this time of the year. Finish the book I am currently reading – “The New Rules of Marathon and Half-Marathon Nutrition” by Matt Fitzgerald – and continue to do the good things I am doing that I keep reading about in the book. (Which means even more rare doses of donuts, dammit.)

  4. Do NOT buy a car charger, PLEASE drive all the way back to Texas. Man I miss me some Holliez. And I promise you, your life is no where near as boring as mine, please see question #5.

What is the most unique place you’ve been? I haven’t been anywhere unique, I lead a sad and boring life.

Then (here’s how you know I lead a super exciting life) I’m meeting up with my former/now pregnant running partner for a grocery shopping date so we can have girl talk. And of course, the Super Bowl, Go Hawks!

Do you have any February Plans or Goals? My legs are STILL super fatigued from the marathon, what gives? But my goal is to start adding in more weight lifting of some kind, even if that’s just a 10 minute video from youtube. I’ve gotten so lax about strength training.

Do you have any February Plans or Goals – A few races (10 miler and 10K), starting my 13.1 training. Of course, a PR would be nice, but I’m not expecting anything great from those 2 races – they’re for fun and to help with my base training. I also need to start packing up our apartment because we are moving into a townhouse in March. Oh and I’d really like to get my taxes filed in February haha.

Thanks for sharing Hollie! This was fun 🙂

  9. I doubt that you’re boring. If you were you wouldn’t be coming 2nd in the votes 😉

What is the most unique place you’ve been?
Ayers Rock (Uluru) Australia. I lived on the resort there for a year when I was 19. I used to go for runs in the desert, and long bike rides in the heat. Sometimes I’d get flat tyres and be scared. Then at night I’d make pizzas and be a DJ. It was an awesome experience.

  15. I’m stealing this next week haha.

Do you have any February Plans or Goals? Lake Effect! First ever half…goal is under 2:15.

    Running/Strength Training

    What is your favorite food?

    Ehtiopian or Thai Food

What are your plans this weekend?

Moving to Carbondale, Colorado for a running magazine internship!

Do you have any February Plans or Goals?

Meet new friends, explore Colorado, do some more trail running.

  21. Where were you born? Trenton, NJ

What is the most unique place you’ve been? Kandahar, Afghanistan

What is your favorite type of workout? Running

What is your favorite food? Fried Chicken

What are your plans this weekend? Run XC on Saturday, take a few pics of a road race on Sun then watch the Super Bowl.

Do you have any February Plans or Goals? Get a little lighte and a little faster.

    • I didn’t realize you were born in Trenton! That is awesome. (And only about 30-40 mins from me here in NJ). Good luck this weekend and I know you will take some awesome photos!

  22. Where were you born?
    Pittsburgh!
What is the most unique place you’ve been?
Probably Cinque Terre in Italy, I loved it!
What is your favorite type of workout? (running, yoga, p90x..)
    running 🙂
    What is your favorite food?
Thai food all the way, I just discovered Tom Kha Gai soup and I’m on a serious kick.
What are your plans this weekend?
Not sure yet, hoping to up my mileage, injury free 🙂

  23. Born in Princeton, NJ. Jersey girl, tried and true.

One of the best places I’ve been in Sevilla, Spain. I felt like I’d been there before and knew where things were, even though it was my first visit. It was incredible.

I love running for what I feel after but weight lifting is number one for me. I feel STRONG LIKE BULL!

Um, all food. I love food. But cheese in particular. 😉

Plans for this weekend include 7 miles and probably food shopping. I’m not a football fan but maybe I’ll even watch a little bit of the Super Bowl.

100 miles in February. Celebrate my kiddo’s 9th birthday. Continue to be awesome. You know, the usual.

  24. Aw, how sweet! I’ve commented before–I think to encourage you that you could beat your 5k PR (which you did… you also beat mine in the process 😉 ).

Where were you born? NYC all the way. Still live there. I went to boarding school and college in MA, though, so I’ve spent a lot of time living the rural life, as well.

What is the most unique place you’ve been? I haven’t been anywhere all that unusual; my family is Italian so we always went to Italy for the summer when I was younger. Seeing a joust there in a small town was fairly unique. I guess Belize?

What is your favorite type of workout? (running, yoga, p90x..) Running, but NOT easy runs… I’m pretty much your opposite there. I can’t stand the long easy runs but force myself through them by distracting myself. My real favorite is speedwork, specifically sprints. Repeats of 400 and under are the bomb. 100 sprint/100 jog is my favorite ever.

What is your favorite food? Chilean sea bass. I seriously buy it every week. It’s become an expensive habit, but I can’t quit. I also, somewhat stereotypically, like chocolate.

What are your plans this weekend? I work weekends, so… that! And a long run if I am over this flu/cough thing. Freaking long runs… so hard not to want to keep speeding up so they are done faster.

Do you have any February Plans or Goals? Well, my goal /was/ to race an indoor track meet but now that I got sick, I doubt I can (it would be Tuesday). Perhaps I will do the mile in the last meet of the season, but I don’t really want to. I wanted to do the 800, which isn’t available then.

  25. Hey, I’ve got 2 minutes!

    * Where were you born? Arlington, TX.
    * What is the most unique place you’ve been? Tie between the Highest Swamp in the World in Waimea, HI & the Highest Ice Field in the World in Seward, AK.
    * What is your favorite type of workout? Running, no question.
    * What is your favorite food? Um, all of it? Food?
    * What are your plans this weekend? I’ve been down with a stress fracture for 6 weeks & just got the okay from my PT to start running for 2:00 at a time, so my plan is to try that. 🙂
    * Do you have any February Plans or Goals? Right now, just be able to run nonzero amounts of miles each week. Not really sure yet what I’ll be able to work up to by then.

Good luck with the Napa thing! I live close so can definitely vouch for its being worth it. 🙂

      • In San Francisco, so about 1.5 hours away. I ran my 1st Napa race last April (gorgeous!) and was actually signed up for Napa Valley Marathon in March until the stress fracture happened. Luckily they let me defer. It can get very warm, but other than that, it’s a great place to run!

  26. Don’t worry – I am boring too 😉

Incidentally, the perspective on those Napa trees isn’t too shabby at all! I really like your Lolz campaign button 🙂

Where were you born? Preston, England, UK.

What is the most unique place you’ve been? Uh, I don’t really venture very far from home much! Sad, I know…I did tell you I was boring!

What is your favorite type of workout? (running, yoga, p90x..) Running a PR – I have to copy you because there is absolutely no feeling in the world that can beat it.

What is your favorite food? Ah, so many Voodoo foods to love, so little time 😉 I’d go for either apples, or banana soft serve with peanut flour sauce on top. Technically lots of foods, but I like to live on the edge.

What are your plans this weekend? Ugh, putting together my PhD appeal. Fun times.

Do you have any February Plans or Goals? I rambled on about those on my blog, but the main one is my appointment with a specialist to hopefully set the ball rolling in terms of finding out why I have a constantly injured right leg…

    xxx

    • My blog has many grammatical errors but I know that then vs. than is one of the worst. I’m sorry if it bothers you but thank you for taking time to read and finding it! I’ll have to work on proofreading better!

  27. Salmon is definitely one of my favorite foods too! I’ve also been eating lots of mango recently. Have a great race this weekend! I’m working today and then being a real person and going out tonight. 🙂 But not being too real because I have a bike workout tomorrow morning. 😉

  28. Where I was born- New Orleans, La. Sadly, I am not still there because it is warm there and not warm in Indiana.

Most unique place I’ve been to – I think it would have to be Israel. I went for two weeks in 2001, and it was awesome. I’d love to go back some day.

Favorite workout – Running is my bread and butter but I also teach Bodypump, and I love the class. Great music, great workout, awesome arms.

Plans for the weekend – My hope is to not get buried by snow. I have a 9 a.m. BP class Saturday, and a long run scheduled for Sunday. I really want to do it with the group but after weeks of snowy/slushy runs, I’m tempted to go on the mill as we’re getting more snow and possibly ice.

February goals – Embrace harder training as I look toward an April half and stop eating like a jerk.

  29. Where were you born?
Claremont, NH, and I’m still here teaching elementary music with teachers I HAD. But I’m hoping to teach abroad for a few years, then move to Colorado.

What is the most unique place you’ve been?
Hmmm I guess New Mexico for a trombone seminar… Not really a unique place, but an uncommon reason.

What is your favorite type of workout? (running, yoga, p90x..)
Tempo runs. Fast enough you know you’re working, but not enough to really hurt. I do love racing though….

    What is your favorite food?
Wild rice, chicken and Udos oil. Simple and delicious!

What are your plans this weekend?
Lesson plan, make a few custom leather items, forge some metal brackets to attach a cloth strap to my suunto ambit2 watch, first race since October (5k), and a cool winter orienteering race (8-10k, depending on navigational skill).

Do you have any February Plans or Goals?
To be consistent as much as possible. I’m getting LASIK surgery on the 12th, so I’ll have to take a a week off from running, and only use the indoor bike. But it’ll be worth it, I’ve been waiting for this for yea!

  30. Love this! Here we go…
Where were you born: Atlanta, GA

Most unique place I’ve been: Ladakh in Northern India in the winter.

Favorite type of workout: running…that’s like all I do.

Favorite food: anything with cheese…so maybe I’ll just say cheese. Does that count?

Plans this weekend: I’m about to meet up with a DC blogger to run 13 miles! And then clean my closet, watch tons of TV and do some blogging.

February Goals/Plans: I’m working on getting faster for a March 1/2 so my goal is to keep up with my workout plan and not get injured in the process.

Where were you born? Kittanning, PA
What is the most unique place you’ve been? I’ve been to a lot of places, but I think the most unique, was cruising through Glacier Bay in Alaska. Seeing such giant glaciers, with seals chilling on icebergs floating by, and Bald Eagles flying over head, and Humpback Whales swimming next to us, it was truly amazing.
What is your favorite type of workout? running of course.
What is your favorite food? Sushi, Chipotle and shrimp Pad Thai. Don’t make me choose.
What are your plans this weekend? RnR New Orleans HM
Do you have any February Plans or Goals? Goal was to run the above HM, faster than my flu HMs in Jan.
