Where does the time go…Oh wait.

I have spent the last week staring at Microsoft (where I write my blogs) very hmm, emotional.  I can’t exactly decide what I want to say because really I don’t quite know (and that often doesn’t happen much because I nearly always know what I want to say).

Well anyways after Monday’s blog about food, it kind of even bored me a little a bit.  I went back and read it several times on Tuesday, hoping to be inspired about what I should write but I stared blankly.  In fact, I didn’t really do anything productive Tuesday night because I normally set about an hour to write a blog and instead I kind of just let it blur by.

I read a great post the yesterday from Emily, about spending way to much time on the internet between facebook, twitter and blogging.  I think as bloggers, half our lives (okay not half….but you get my jive) is spent on the internet.  I don’t like it.  Right now I’m taking an online course, which adds more internet face time.

Am I enjoying life?

Well yes- I always enjoy my life.

I think lately a lot of past emotions have been flooding back into my mind which is another reason I have been a little bit MIA.   Instead of reading blogs and writing worthwhile ones I have been painting and relaxing and spending less time in front of the computer.  I have also been spending time with the broski since he leaves for college in a couple weeks and we won’t be able to talk but on Sundays for 10 minutes for a while.  Each to their own college (again not my jive).

It’s quite refreshing really to take a break and spend time with tangible things

—————–

But yes-I’m still around. Here is a brief but highly fascinating cliff note version of my life.

I have been lifeguarding at my pool.  I actually sat in the stand a couple times.  Managing the pool you just stare at chemicals the entire time and make sure nothing blows up and your lifeguards don’t kill each other and or the patrons.  And that they are intelligent enough to save people.  Which no bad things have happened thus far.

I learned to Dougie from so uh professionals at Cav (my pool too).  It seems about the same way as Upstate minus…a little better ha.  Today they asked me what race I was because I had such a “ghetto booty”.  #mostawkwardmomentoftheweek

I have been also obsessing over this song called right there (you may have recalled me searching for it for a solid hour last night…).  New Superbass to put on repeat?

It’s a possibility.  It’s also a possibility that I plan on dancing just like that everywhere I go.

Oh and sorry to be a depressing Debbie but I was not a real girl today.  Unless you count my long lost hot pink hoodie and leggings.

Please remind me that I'm not in middle school and this isn't myspace.

Okay-so aDuBs judges me for this and I don’t see the problem.  I bought four pairs of the same everlast black leggings.  Two for running and two for lounging.  They are mad comfortable and normal leggings you have wear white underwear because the leggings are somewhat see through.  These leggings are thick and the bomb.com.

Finally I have been running and swimming.  I am cutting down my miles this week to keep injuries at bay.  Although I do have an open water swim this weekend, my next road race is July 4th.  I would hypothetically right now like to be under 20 minutes again (but we will see).

Questions for you:

1.       Do you think you spend too much time online?  Where do you spend most of your time?  Facebook? Twitter?  Blogging?

Graduation Festivities (Pictcha Heavy)

Where did the time go?  It was just yesterday the broski and I were getting into fist fights.  No really…we did have a few of those back in early middle school.

Halloween perhaps 2000 or 2001. Who knows...let's just say back when we LESS socially awkward...

Now if you read my blog often (when I’m at home that is-you’ll know we are kinda like besties).  Minus he is forever coming into my room when I am trying to get work done.

Well.

My brother graduated high school today.  Which is where I was all freaking day.  Was it worth it?  I’m not too sure.

Just kidding.

My high school was huge and had roughly 3000 students spread though 9-12th.  It gave both the broski and I, a good background of meeting tons of people and being little socialites.  Because we are both equally as outgoing.  Maybe.

Incase you wondered, Matt is going to school in New York too but nowhere near me.  Oh and certainly not a liberal arts school with the same uh experiences.  I guess he will be running too so that makes us semi-twinnies.  Okay no not really.  Matt is going to be attending the US Merchant Marine Academy in a few short weeks.  Similar to the Naval, West point and such, it prepares you for either going into a branch of the military or the Merchant Marines.  He wants to be Navel Fighter Pilot…but he is a lil cray cray so we will see where that goes.

Since photos tell 1000 words and I’m lazy here ya go:

aDuBs and I
Since we were real girls we had to get a lil cray cray
Me and all my clss of 2011 besties
Matt and his girlfriend
The daddykins and I
Matt and the mom
To Quote Matt's senior quote "You ain't fresh as I iz"

We went to a nomtastic restaurant called Catch 21 on the VA Beach Boardwalk.  It was really good, however, it left me incredible starving after I ate.

calmari for an appetizer
salmon...always.

Which is why we stopped for froyo.

Question for you:

  1. 1.       Are you in high school?  Excited to graduate?  Were you excited to graduate? Did you even like high school?

I actually wasn’t that excited to graduate.  I had my close knit group of 6 friends and it was tough going in different directions, but I am glad I got a way and completely did a 180 from high school.

Plus Size and Modeling

I want to preface this blog before you read:  I do not believe the term “plus size,” is actually plus size and I think it’s silly because the average plus size model is size 6.  I also do not feel I need to lose/gain any sort of weight nor do I really want too.  If talking about weight makes you uncomfortable or modeling makes you uncomfortable, I’ll ramble a different topic tomorrow.  I just wanted to create an open discussion about it.

—————–

So yesterday when I was in line at the store and a lady approached me asked and if I was a plus size model.  Long story short I w as just like no I’m actually just a college athlete who happened to be wearing real girl clothes.  She then told me I should look into it.  So.random. Why is my life cray cray?  Not to stereotype but she was a middle aged woman with perfect hair and makeup, I almost wanted to ask if she would do mine all the time.

I wasn’t sure how I should respond to that question because honestly it was kinda awkward.  I’m 5’7 and I’m not overweight by any means but I’m also not underweight by any means either.  Oh and also because I forgot to say this-her asking me actually didn’t even really make me think oh my god fat day have I gained weight?

This is my baffled face because that exactly what I gave her.

I was just more puzzled then anything else.    What would you do in that situation?

I mean I was flattered that someone would think I was a model to begin with but I didn’t know how to approach the topic of “plus size.”   In fact, “normal size models” don’t even wear normal sized clothing and plus sized females wear clothing set at most normal sizes.  I never quite understood why it would be that glamorous to walk down a run way when you can barely walk because you are so damn starving.

Oh and incase you wondered (because we all know my obsession with ANTM and I spend hours researching possible ways to meet Tyra)… Editorial (magazine) models are not normally underweight with bones showing.  They are in the (lower) but healthy range of their weight category. Runway  models and some high end fashion are the all skins and bones.  Think about it, a 5’8 female weighing less than 115 pounds?

While some people think that all models are underweight, that is actually false and it’s runway models that get all the attention for that. (So not even half the modeling industry is underweight, but it’s just the most advertised).

————————-

While doing a bit more digging around, I found some interesting statistics of the modeling world.

Runway and editorial models:
Height: 5’8″-6’0″
Weight: 105-125 lbs
Measurements: 34-24-34 (bust, waist, hips)
Size: 0-4
Physical: naturally slim/slender, not very curvy, striking/unique/odd features, strong bone
Commercial/print models:
Height: 5’5″-5’7″
Weight: 105-125 lbs
Measurements: 34-24-34 (bust, waist, hips)
Sizes: varies
Physical: proportional, symmetrical, attractive face, great smile/teeth, good complexion

Petite models (on a side note-It’s harder to get a job if you are petite versus being plus size):
Height: 5’1″-5’5″
Weight: 100-125 lbs
Measurements: 34-24-34 (bust, waist, hips)
Sizes: 2-4 petite sizes
Physical: proportional, naturally slim/slender, strikingly attractive, good complexion, healthy hair

Plus size models:
Height: 5’8″-6’0″
Weight: varies
Measurements: varies, but must be proportionally 10 inches between measurements (example: 42-32-42).
Sizes: 10-18
Physical: proportional and toned, great skin, hair and teeth, nicely shaped legs.

Yes. This girl is "classified" as a plus size model. Do you know why she went on home ANTM a few seasons ago? She lost too much weight and wasn't plus sized anymore.

Glamour models:
Height: open
Weight: open
Measurements: varies but 36-24-36 is ideal (bust, waist, hips)
Sizes: open
Physical: glamour models can be short or tall, thin or thick. The curvier, the better. Should have a great, toned body, full bust and a nice butt.

Lets chat about the modeling world.  It all fascinates me as you probably know.  What do you think about it?

True Life: I’m a Debbie Downer

Today was a sad day in my life.  Although I whined and complained, I really did want to do the triathlon.  Alas, it was cancelled due to the weather.  It was lightening and thundering and downpouring.  Basically a scary storm that lead to flash floods that led to me running 10 miles on the dreadmill and calling it a day. . But that is another story.

By 6:30, the daddykins and I entered the worlds largest navel station for the race.  BAHA.  It makes me seem like I was somewhere oh so exciting.

At 7:00, I spent 15 minutes figuring out all my numbers went.

7:15 we were all marked up with and ready to go.

7:30 We were directed a storm was coming and to chillaxe in our car.

This

turned to this
and then to 2 foot floods...within an hour
which SUVS can get through....but not my legs.

8:15 They called off the swim.

9:00 They called off the race.

9:15 The daddykins took me on a tour of Navel Station because I don’t really come out there much.  Basically a bunch of his old ships and such.  I don’t know why (maybe I should have joined the navy) but ships amuse me.  All of them.  So in the midst of a storm, we plowed through the flooding and looked at them.

Because I was so pumped...

I haven’t ever had bad luck like that so I can’t really complain.  It was just more obnoxious because I had to get up at 5:30am on a Sunday.
