Ding Ding Ding Now Starting Round 1

Of Finals week (for me anyways).

Finals Day Round 1. An excuse to wear makeup and put my hair in the worlds greatest messiest side bun on top of my head. AKA anti real girl days.

Don’t think I’m lazy my blogging bffs, I’m not.  I have two finals that required any studying and one that requires much more than the other.  Both of them are math.

My first one was today at 10:15 and it went well.  I was very pleased with it.  I’m pretty sure I got at least a 90.

The second one (and harder one) is on Wednesday.

I have a few presentations for education amongst there…but if you can’t tell I enjoy talking so no big deal.  Apparently I’m a decent public speaker as I can keep the class amused for a rousing 20 minutes when I normally present…go figure.

Needless to say, I have never really been in a situation like this that my finals aren’t making me sweat too much.  I mean they are obviously, but there is not a need for me to stay in the library for countless hours like every other time.  My finals this semester have more or less have been a culmination of projects and speeches with two intense math tests.

I won’t complain because I don’t want to jynx it.

Today because it was blistering cold and rainy the temperature dropped back down to 35 and pouring rain.  Needless to say I kind of hid in my room before and after finals and under about 1000 layers of covers.

Since it was so cold out, I decided it was appropriate to have a nice ole warm blueberry waffle topped with Greek yogurt and more blueberries.

I’m rather proud of how my photography skillz have progressed since the year has gone by.  One day I hope to be as classy as some of those photographers that make you crazed with hunger just staring at their food.

To continue to chain of food photography, I took a picture of my “garbage salad”.  I call it a garbage salad because it was like I dumped everything and anything found on the salad bar into the salad.  All topped with feta cheese.

Yes there is chicken, ham, banana peppers, olives, spinach, oranges, pears and cheese all in that salad.

If you squint you can see my corn and roast beef sandwich in the background...somewhere...

I’ve also been getting into tuna fish sandwiches for snacks lately (because I have 10 cans of tunafish that I need to use up before the end of the week).  1 can of tuna fish+1/4 feta cheese+ half a bottle of parmesan cheese, all toasted up.  It is certainly a nomtastic snack that I can eat in class and guarantee no one will sit next to me.  Perfect.

Questions for you:

1.       Did you have any particularly rough or easy finals weeks?
Last Spring Semester, I had a rough one studying for my graduate level math course.  (I almost decided to do a BA/MA (bachelors-masters) program at school where you get your masters  in math alongside your bachelors in 4.5 years.)  Uh yeah hardest test of my life.  It was worth it though because I got a 3.0 in class but was more in limbo about math in general.  Needless to say I didn’t want to get a masters in math.  That was the hardest semester of my life to begin with though.  It began my questioning of weather math was really for me or not or if I care for proofs. Random side notes of my life.

2.       Would you rather swim 2 miles in open rough currents water or run 15 miles on the treadmill staring at the wall with no music or tv?  Feel free to tell me why.

  1. Oh I’ve had some doozy of Finals weeks in my career. All of my Finals were always 3+ hours which just makes your head hurt.

As for your other question…um, neither, but I’d probably go with treadmill.

  2. I’m not so big on open water swimming, cold!, currents, fish, icky things that wrap around your ankles, and squishy bottoms that ooze thru your toes. Also, I prefer following the ez lines on the bottom of the pool than sighting. It depends on how many of those were present, too many…then IF I could I would run on treadmill instead. ha ha

  3. Glad to hear you are confident in your finals. I still have a good month until my finals, but I am already nervous. They are gonna be hard! Ugh! I hate studying.
As for the survey…I totally voted for run. Not only do I like running better than swimming, but it is also saver (in this case.) Rough currents…me no likey! 😛

  4. I’ve had way too many insane finals with my biology major but luckily I’m taking a breather now until school starts up again 🙂

  5. Blueberry waffles with extra blueberries on top (bonus if it is that sugary sweet blueberry compote concoction!) is one of my most favorite breakfasts ever!

    No finals for me–I’m a 9 to 5 girl!

I actually run best on the treadmill while staring at the wall. Seriously…I get so focused. I once told this to a personal trainer at the gym and he thought I was nuts. Oh well, to each their own. NOTHING compares to running outside though…summer here we come!

  6. I like the title of your post and your anti real girl picture 🙂

your food photography is getting to be pretty amazing and making me hungry for blueberry waffles and garbage salads nom nom nommm

  7. Mmmm that waffle looks fab! Especially with the bloobs on top 🙂

I had a really tough week of exams but now I really only have easy ones left….thank god! Good for you for not stressing….its good to stay calm, cool, and reeeeelaxed!

  8. Good luck on your finals! I really don’t mind finals weeks because I have plenty of time without classes, but midterm weeks are brutal for me because there’s exams + classes. One time, I had 5 exams in 3 days during a midterm week. I would probably run, as long as I had a chatty friend on a treadmill next to me.

  9. I’m also pretty good as presentations. Not too shy, this one! Haha. 🙂 Good luck on Wednesday!

  10. Good luck with all your tests! Finals suck but at least it means your done (if you pass! but you will!). I feel so bad for you with that weather. This is why I could never go north to go to school! I could not handle those temps in May.
    I voted running 🙂

  11. I wish you the best with your finals! Don’t cheat. Not that you would. Hah.

My finals are coming up in another week. Ahhhh.

  12. Holy crap, totally the swim! I hope you’re not planning to do either though…?

I loved giving presentations in college, and I still do in my real job. I loved knowing what I’m talking about and actually being able to know back and forth and field questions that, no matter how hard, I’ll be able to find a way to answer because I like to think on my feet like that.

The weather here sucks too so don’t fret. Lets go to Tampa for the weekend–you in?

  13. Good luck on your finals! I had physics and o.chem on the same day. That was rough.

As long as its 3 miles in the lake I’d rather swim (I’m terrified of swimming in the ocean)

  14. I picked swimming! Running 15 miles on the treadmill sounds like a punishment worse than death.

    Okay, that’s slightly dramatic 😉

  15. weird…i’ve been eating tuna salad sammies a lot lately too! (try mixing it with horseradish, spicy mustard, a lil mayo and banana peppers…so good!) i had a very rough week of testing last week…3 APs and SAT all done with now though! I’d rather swim, assuming that no sharks will be eating me and that the water is nice and toasty! although 2 (or 3..your poll says 3!) miles is a lonng time for open mile swimming…hmmm maybe I could just drift downhill lol

  16. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW HOLLIE!! I will be thinking of you & crossing my fingers (& toes 😉 ) for you!
I hear ya about the photography, I wish my pictures were only HALF as good as some that I see- I’m just amazed at HOW good people can make food!! haha 🙂 xoxo!!
