All You Need for Travel is Coffee.

And apparently Greek Food.  I can never get enough of that stuff.

Okay yes, I did promise I would do a food blog about my journey to New York City.  I didn’t take photos of everything because I didn’t really have the energy and the trip wasn’t about my food blogging or blogging.  It was about the broski.

Anywho I also cannot promise I eat the most healthy or even remotely so.  I can promise you I ate all of this and more (did minimum exercise…it was a fabulous break) and didn’t gain any weight.

It’s important to remember that you don’t gain weight in a matter of meals.  It’s life choices baby.

The most important thing about EVERY single one of these meals was I completely enjoyed each of them.  All of them were nom.com. Actually thinking of all my eats makes me want to travel and visit my brother everyday taking the same exact route.

I had 4 Starbucks fraps. And I loved every single one of them. That giftcard I got for my birthday was the best thing ever. I don't know why I contentiously pose with my coffee.

Chick fila breakfast stop. The broski wanted one last time before he only ate college food.

Okay so this salmon salad was the greatest salad I have ever had. EVER. NYC you win.

These meatballs were the size of a small baby...once again winning NYC.

But then I had this gyro meat salad in New Jersey and it came with pita bread. So many hard choices of best salads...

When I visited Katelyn in Rochacha a few months back I fell in love with lentils..when I saw them on the menu I had to order them again.

Not sure why I was in such a greek mood but ordered a greek salad for an app at a DINER of all pancakes (um don't you worry it was after 11 and they didn't serve breakfast) Oh and confessional. I have come to terms with onions. They are now okay in my book.

But the spankopita pie was another great nom. Omg and it was only 5 dollars! Best.Meal.Ever.

As you can see-I’m not going to get my panties in a bunch not eating like I do at home.  Give me coffee and give me…well more coffee and I’ll be good to go.  Mind you-my family isn’t big breakfast eaters so we didn’t go that route.

Can you believe I didn’t have pancakes for an entire 3 days and the world has not ended.

Question for you:

Travel: does it make your nervous for yo eats?

Don’t Leave Me Home Alone

I think my father secretly likes being referred to as the daddykins on the blog.  It makes him feel so famous.  I think he also gets tired of me rambling off about my blog in true life but I’m wearing real girl clothing so there is only so much I can do.

Hmm, Thursday was a big day for me.  I became-Hollie-ultra domesticated female.  I did some baking (peanut butter cookies), cleaning, and even laundry.

I really do believe if I wasn’t so sassy, I could just go major in professional housewife blogging, running, swimming woman.  I feel that is a pretty standard degree at most colleges.

I’m glad you guys enjoy the new header.  I actually hated the other one but never got around to changing it.  It is my summery and joyous, kinda ,like me.  Now I suppose I can look at my own blog once in a while (like déjà voo?).

————–

Today was not too exciting of a day sadly.  I made a waffle before heading off to the pool which is where I spent the majority of my day.

I'm not sure why my blueberry jam looks redish. Either way it was still nomtastic.

I hate eating on the run but when I do 99% of the time, it is a tuna fish sandwich.  It’s kinda like my staple lunch at the moment.  Between helping new guards and eating, I managed to get a tempo run of 8 miles in there somewhere.  VA weather was glorious today as it wasn’t too humid or hot.

I do feel the need to share with you the most delicious dinner that I made last night.  I got it of all places off the back of the cheese package.  I’m kinda in love with cheese with mozzarella, cheddar and feta and parmesan being my favorites.  Oh wait-crumbly bleu cheese.  No and goat cheese.

Okay yes-cheese is good.

Anywho without further ado (and you know all my recipes take cerca de 15 minutes or less to prepare…).

Ingredients:

2 cups cooked pasta

½ pound Italian sausage

1 package spinach leaves

1 can diced tomatoes

1 cup mozzarella cheese

Optional:

2 tablespoons parmesan cheese

Mass amounts of garlic

Directions:

  1. Crumble sausage into large deep skillet and cook on medium heat for 10-12 minutes.  Stir occasionally.
  2. Drain sausage then add spinach and tomatoes and cook until spinach has wilted.
  3. Add in the cook pasta followed by cheese and garlic.
  4. Then eat (99% of it like I did…actually my brothers were home, I can’t take all the credit)

Questions for you:

  1. 1.       Staple lunch?
  2. 2.       What are your plans this weekend? (Are you racing?)

Blerg-I’m doing a triathlon.  I”m more nervous then god knows what but we can chit chat about that tomorrow.  Oh and aDuBs is doing a 5k so go wish her luck.

What you didn’t do that in your youth?

My fellow blogging besties.  I have returned after a rather short but much needed personal time off.  I hope everyone had a wonderful week.  It is kinda of flying by for me.  Maybe that was because I was too busy being a real girl wearing real girl clothes.

Before I begin and partially the reason I needed to come back so quickly.  My bestie Anna, (better known as aDuBs…but only because I call her that and she hates it) has created and a blog and I’m going to personally make sure each of you become her biggest fan.

So go there now because she is amazing and fabulous and the only one to put up with me for 10 years.  God knows no one else can.  So go.   NOW!

And because I’m on the topic of aDuBs…I goggled her name into my 1500 photos and found some winners.

This must have been over Thanksgiving.

This was in the middle of glassblowing class last summer. Clearly we were studious.

In one of those mall booths. I was so confused of what we were doing bahaha.

10th grade cruise! (and yes my hair is that color when I don't dye it)

As you can clearly see she puts up with my crap.  ha.  ;)

Fun fact of the week: I wore real girl clothes and looked presentable every single day.  I also wore a bathing suit and running spandex most days too but there were clothes that wouldn’t make you question that I was a member of society (as my dad says).

Whenever I don’t wear “real girl clothes” the daddykins always tells me I’m not ready to be a productive member of society for the day.  Which 9/10 days I wear real girl clothes so I don’t have to put up with his sassyness.

Speaking of the daddykins, if you are in the VA Beach area and you go over the bridge right after the downtown tunnel off of 264, my dad’s old ship is in the drydock.  I tried to have a photoshoot with the ship but it was an epic fail.  No, I wasn’t driving and yes I will capture more photos because it will be there for a while.

Noms of the week:

I had like 20 salads this week.  Have you ever just craved your greens? Each was pretty decent but the one at my favorite diner ever (the Silver Diner) was the best.  Salmon, cranberries, mango, strawberries, spinach…other random things.  The lady asked if I wanted to salmon filets and I responded with…a fatties got to eat.  I guess that meant two because that is what she gave me.

oh yes and this deliscous black bean quasadilla too

Because I was feeling rather down in the dumps all week, my family thought it acceptable to fatten me up with ice-cream.  I’m addicted and if you ever come visit we are going on many dates.   My mom loves froyo but quite frankly nothing beats some good ole cake batter ice cream.

once here

another time here...

I have also been putting my magic bullet to good use and making blueberry smoothies a lot.  Nom nom nom.

My dad asked when I took this photo what the hell I was doing. I asked him what...you didn't do this in your youth.

You know of course, my day wouldn’t be complete without some good ole pancakes and waffles.

dark chocolate cherry pancakes

Strawberry waffle...we have a plethera of strawberries in these parts...

peanut flour pancakes

Well anywho.  I am alive and well and I hope you guys are too.

Question for you:

Tell something fantastic that has happened to you that you have been dying to tell me about. (I guess that is more of a statement but I’m over it).

Triple Tangent True Life Tuesday

I thought I would amuse you with fun facts via the beginning of my week.

Numero uno.  I have had a printer in my room all year long and have not used it once.  Yesterday night I was not in the mood to walk all the way to the library (about 15 minutes away..yes lazy moment)so I figured out why my printer wasn’t working (I had to realign the ink cartridges) and printed in my room.  Yes, that is the first time all year long I have printed from my printer in my room.

True life:  I’m addicted to gas station coffee and will go broke one day buying it and all it’s grimeyness.  I could live off of gas station coffee.  And yes I like it better than Starbucks.

Recycled photo coffee love.

True life fact number 3: My 50 page paper is donezo.  Done done done.  So it is acceptable to have a photoshoot with it.

Success!

What it all means..who knows..

——————-

I changed my mind, here are my true life noms of the day.

Breakfast was my favorite bomb.com waffle.

with greek yogurt to dip obviously.

True life: Not one single person outside the blogging world understand the deliciousness and savory combination of this waffle.  Not many in the blogging world probably do either.  ;)

Lunch was a “hugh ass” roast beef wrap.

top to bottom banana and red peppers, chedder cheese, roast beef, lettuce, tomato

True life: I have never been asked if I wanted to ketchup in my wrap.  I have a new bff worker.

Dinner numero uno was a delicious salmon quiche with a sushi salad.

True life: I have had a salmon quiche once a day for the last 4 days.  My campus makes the most random delicious things.  Who thinks of that?

Now that I have overused the phrase true life, I believe I am done now.

If we chat in real life, you’ll know if I agree with you I’m all about saying true life instead of yes.  So for instance if you asked me if I was having breakfast today,  I’d be like duh true life.

——————-

Ugh, I don’t really want to talk about working out too much the last couple of days but I will anyways.  Yesterday, I woke up and had some pain in my hip flexors.  For those of you who weren’t my besties freshman year, I sprained my hip flexors backpacking.  I could barely walk for a solid month and was the only person under the age of 80 that had managed that.  Anywho, I just opted for some cross training yesterday. I would rather not run one day now, then not race my last half of the season in a couple weeks.

Today, however, I ran and my hip felt a lot better.

PS: Don’t forget to enter my swell cookbook giveaway.

Question for you:

  1. 1.       Do you hate packing or unpacking more?

Packing all my stuff up from school has made me realize I have a ton of crap.  Just saying.

  1. 2.       What are your true lifes?

Girl Was a Diva and Needed To be Sent Home.

Today was my last day observing in a classroom.  Now I have nothing to ramble away with on Thursdays.  Blech.    Except!

I do have more time to take multiple photos of myself.

Wearing my favorite outfit!

Working on my 50 page. Yes 50 page paper due next Thursday. (and exceeding my printing quota on campus).

Or mimicking my math class expressions. Pictures of me sleeping wouldn't be as um. interesting....

Well anyways-I know you were dying to see my face…but onto another face.  PS: I’m sorry for blowing up your twitter feed last night.  It was a big episode.

I tried to show the most divaesc picture of her.

Yes she has finally been voted off.

You are the weakest link.

Goodbye.

——————-

Anywho back to today-Well first, ask me questions here and I’ll do another FAQ post.  You guys know I’m upfront and blunt and will answer 99% of questions.  But don’t ask why I’m extremely weird because god knows my parents haven’t figured that out in the last 20 years….

————————

Notable Noms of the day:

Breakfast was raspberry pancakes. These pancakes turned out extremely well. Which is why I took a photo.

I actually had lunch at the school today and for obvious reasons, I couldn’t exactly whip out my camera.  It looked something like this though.  I wish my high school had those options all we had were chicken nuggets and French fries.  I would have gotten one of these wraps every day.

mushroom wrap. nom.com. For a school lunch-I'm impressed.

Dinner (number 1) was just salmon and some cooked spinach.  Swimming at 7:30, I don’t want my belly to be too full so I had something light.  I’ll have dinner number 2 (god knows what I’ll forage in my house) after my swim sesh.

Fish skin is my favorite part. I peel it off and eat it last.

Hmm.  I feel like It doesn’t look like I ate a lot today so I’ll include my snacks.

One of my Snickers Marathon Bars in class yes pleasee

Grapes are my favorite snack ever.

yogurt and pumpkin is the bomb.com snack.

I haven’t had ice cream in two days looking back so I’m feeling a milkshake for dinner number 2.  Always acceptable.

——————–

Workouts today included an hour running on the dreadmill.  It is seriously so cold and freezing rain does not help my situation.    I can run outside in the 15 degree temperature but not when there is freezing rain at 40.  I will much rather get my Tyra on.

Tentatively, grandma Hollie plans to actual venture from my house past 7 pm and go swim laps during open swim. (With the screaming babies and god knows who else is there).. I want to get about 4000 yards in but you can check my daily mile to see if I actually made it there ha.

———–

And Finally.

Tomorrows Friday which something I have been craving all week (more than usual).  I have an exciting revelation for all my college friends about another use for your race numbers.  Everyone else can judge me….

I'll use the number from this weekend...lucky 692

I think I looked so confused because I had been running for over an hour and a half and was rather uncoordinated to just stop running over a 1 foot line.

——————–

Question for you:

  1. 1.       Were your high school lunches good or bad?  Do you pack/bring your lunch now doing whatever it is that you do.
  2. 2.       What are you doing this weekend!
