The people at Nutrition Fix were nice enough to send me a box of OH Yeah protein wafers to try. We all know that I’m a bar whore/snob…whatever. When I’m in class, I get hungry and I’m not about to whip out muscle milk shakes. With bars I look semi normal. I guess.
I personally prefer bars between 100-200 calories, with a blend of fat, protein and fiber. The most important aspect (to me at least) is the calcium amount in the bar.
These chocolate peanut butter bars have 210 calories, 2 grams of fiber and 14 grams of protein and 13 grams of fat. So optimal stats for my liking. They also have other sorts of protein bars which meet my personal needs as well.
I tried my first Oh yeah wafer in class the other day and I wasn’t disappointed. Since they are wafer bars-they aren’t dense so they don’t sit in your stomach like rock (oh hi powerbar…not like I ate you 3 hours ago). Ie: I can eat them within a half hour of running.
I would best describe as a Reese’s Peanut Butter cup in light fluffy bar form. So if you are into that sort of bar, that I encourage them. I don’t think they will be a class time eating bar but probably a preworkout snack if I choose to run in the am or get hungry before a run.
Do I recommend them?
Yes. They are optimal for before working out because they don’t sit in your stomach as many bars do. I personally enjoy the taste of fatty bars versus protein so the higher fat content is okay with me.
Question for you: What is your favorite type of bar?
