Eggs and Toast

I feel like I have been advertising giveaways a lot in my blogs lately. But when your favorite blogs that you follow like it’s your job have giveaways how can you not? On a side note-blog reading would be the most fabulous job. You could get one of those desk treadmills and get your exercise in while blogging.

I can't even walk and drink coffee at the same time...

Anywho-

Jaimie@FoodinRealLife is having a cook book giveaway. A lot of the recipes are made from similar ingredients and using similar methods. It seems so easy and for people who are afraid of change and need to follow a routine (like me.) While you’re there check out her blog because you’ll begin to follow it like it’s your job too!

Since this is the distance swimmer “bonus practice,” of the week it is a little shorter. By bonus, I mean distance swimmers have to do an extra practice on top of everyone else so this is our practice of extra yards.

Today marks the first day in a good old while that I did not have pancakes for breakfast. Pancakes have always been my staple food and not having them makes me extremely uncomfortable. Breaking out of that is a big step for me. Which sounds pretty silly when I type it all out.

I had made up my mind yesterday that I wasn’t going to have pancakes, waffles, or French toast for breakfast today. Today I am pleased to announce that I stuck to a rather simple breakfast and made 3 overeasy eggs, ½ cup egg whites, toast and grilled tomato. I normally have about 400 calories for breakfast of pancakes so I tried to have roughly the same amount. This really made me forget how much I do love eggs. I didn’t know where to start there was so much food on the plate for 400 calories.

When I lived in England, grilled tomato was included in any breakfast and I absolutely love it. If you have never tried it, I highly recommend it. So get your George foreman and grill up some tomatoes.

Here is the second pool workout of the day:

As you can see-I’m alive and well and didn’t have pancakes. :)

What did you have for breakfast today?

Funcake Fridays

Pancakes are fun right?

Pancake Challenge Round 4. I have only posted three rounds but there was a first round my sophomore year of college. That was the fateful day I fell in love with pancakes to begin with ha.

Today Aram was the photographer so you can see the challenge through his eyes. He stole my camera while I was eating and I was only able to snap one picture of the cutie. Oh and one picture of me playing with my food ha. He should really just have his own blog to take photos for.

Everyone is always shocked that I can eat the whole thing but as my coaches say, “Its Heimertime!!” My last name is Heimer so instead of Hammertime, Heimertime was invented. Ha.

Here is a timeline of events:

2 Mile Open Water Swim

I am not dead I promise! HA. I was just extremely tired last night and ended up going to bed very early. By early I mean I was crawled up underneath hotel covers at about 8pm last night. I had to wake up at 5:45 in the morning though. That is only 30 minutes earlier than I normally do but all the lack of sleeping was catching up to me and I’m not a daytime sleeper. Meaning I do not nap well ha. Anyways the race went really well.

I woke up at 5:45 and as most of you know, I’m a big coffee drinker and those dinky hotel coffee makers that make one cup-well they just don’t cut it for me. My father and I searched high and low for a starbucks to get a nice big cup of coffee. Just plain coffee-not anything that will sit in our tummies. I also had a snickers marathon bar which by coincidence the race was sponsored by. So we got free tattoos and marathon bars at the race too. I love it…now I have more bars and coupons and a tattoo. Ha.

Last year I got hypothermia during the race. I finished but it was a cold treck when I got out and had to receive medical attention. I actually almost was airlifted. Let me first say that I would have stopped the race if I had been feeling this during the race but it started as soon as the wind and rain started after. This year it was just very cold but I did finish and did not get hypothermia. There were some ridiculous currents that knocked the wind out of me. This race went one mile out and then one mile back in…it didn’t run parallel to the beach like down in VA.

After I had a lot of food. More donuts then I would like to count and now I’m regretting that but I’m over it, that was race was extremely difficult and as I type to you on the highway my triceps burn with pain.
Outcomes of the race: 1st place in the 20-24 age group/3rd female overall
My father: 3rd place in 50-54 /45th male overall
My uncle: 1st place 65-69 /42nd male overall

My dad and his brother are very competitive towards each other. My dad’s older brother Scott, however, trains immensely for this race. If my dad had more time I’m sure he would too. He is a marathon runner though.

What can I say, IT’S HEIMERTIME!
