Ding Ding Ding Now Starting Round 1


Of Finals week (for me anyways).

Finals Day Round 1. An excuse to wear makeup and put my hair in the worlds greatest messiest side bun on top of my head. AKA anti real girl days.

Don’t think I’m lazy my blogging bffs, I’m not.  I have two finals that required any studying and one that requires much more than the other.  Both of them are math.

My first one was today at 10:15 and it went well.  I was very pleased with it.  I’m pretty sure I got at least a 90. 

The second one (and harder one) is on Wednesday.

I have a few presentations for education amongst there…but if you can’t tell I enjoy talking so no big deal.  Apparently I’m a decent public speaker as I can keep the class amused for a rousing 20 minutes when I normally present…go figure.

Needless to say, I have never really been in a situation like this that my finals aren’t making me sweat too much.  I mean they are obviously, but there is not a need for me to stay in the library for countless hours like every other time.  My finals this semester have more or less have been a culmination of projects and speeches with two intense math tests.

I won’t complain because I don’t want to jynx it.

Today because it was blistering cold and rainy the temperature dropped back down to 35 and pouring rain.  Needless to say I kind of hid in my room before and after finals and under about 1000 layers of covers.

Since it was so cold out, I decided it was appropriate to have a nice ole warm blueberry waffle topped with Greek yogurt and more blueberries.

I’m rather proud of how my photography skillz have progressed since the year has gone by.  One day I hope to be as classy as some of those photographers that make you crazed with hunger just staring at their food.

To continue to chain of food photography, I took a picture of my “garbage salad”.  I call it a garbage salad because it was like I dumped everything and anything found on the salad bar into the salad.  All topped with feta cheese.

Yes there is chicken, ham, banana peppers, olives, spinach, oranges, pears and cheese all in that salad.

If you squint you can see my corn and roast beef sandwich in the background...somewhere...



I’ve also been getting into tuna fish sandwiches for snacks lately (because I have 10 cans of tunafish that I need to use up before the end of the week).  1 can of tuna fish+1/4 feta cheese+ half a bottle of parmesan cheese, all toasted up.  It is certainly a nomtastic snack that I can eat in class and guarantee no one will sit next to me.  Perfect.

1.       Did you have any particularly rough or easy finals weeks?
Last Spring Semester, I had a rough one studying for my graduate level math course.  (I almost decided to do a BA/MA (bachelors-masters) program at school where you get your masters  in math alongside your bachelors in 4.5 years.)  Uh yeah hardest test of my life.  It was worth it though because I got a 3.0 in class but was more in limbo about math in general.  Needless to say I didn’t want to get a masters in math.  That was the hardest semester of my life to begin with though.  It began my questioning of weather math was really for me or not or if I care for proofs. Random side notes of my life.

2.       Would you rather swim 2 miles in open rough currents water or run 15 miles on the treadmill staring at the wall with no music or tv?  Feel free to tell me why.

I have a confession to make blogging besties.

Yesterday, I posted a blog titled Red Foot or something like that.  My foot is not actually red…but hot pink.  Don’t ask me how this happened because quite frankly I don’t know.  I told Nikki about it so I thought perhaps you guys would get enjoyment out of it as well.

My pink pen exploded all over my foot. 

It all happened when I was working on homework two nights ago.  I sit Indian Style always and I was playing around with my pen…when all of it sudden the bottom just gave out. 

My foot is actually pinkand nothing that I do (nailpolish remover, peroxide, actual showering with soap and water, oh and pool chlorine) has gotten it off.

So I lied.

My foot is pink.

Who the hell does this happen to.

But on less pink notes and things about my feet (because I’m embarrassed to even talk about them).  Today I made chocolate peanut flour pancakes in baby form.  I often have a debate with you guys about big pancakes versus lots of little ones.  I personally like one big dense one but I’m in an underwhelming minority.

Well today I made about 10 babies.  They were cute and delicious.  Still taste like chocolate and peanut flour.

Lunch today I ate with Julie.  Dexter’s café is closing this week (and won’t be open during finals) so I have to get my quiche addiction in before the end of the year.).   If you live in the VA beach area, or within an hour let me know your fav quiche destination and I will be there.  No really.

Dinner tonight was with Jenna my swimming bff.  At least I think so…I’m not entirely sure she feels the same way ha.  ;) .  Ha kidding of course.

I like to call this salad-please don’t get in line behind me when they have artichoke hearts at the salad bar salad.  The warm weather has made me crave cold fruit, refreshing salads and just plain fruity things.  Don’t ask because once again I’m weird and have no explanations.

Updates on my blisters (because I know you all are terrible curious), I’m running in old shoes that don’t run and it’s going well…I’m still in pain at night (weird) but when I run it goes away…or maybe I just focus on other things.

Well-I’m off for a little swimming sesh with my housemates and Jenna.

I also promise I’m never posting about my feet again.  I mean Chuck blatantly thanked me for not putting any pictures of blistery feet online.

Steak Fat and Kale

On a completely different note because that is how my brain functions.  Many people have actually asked about what my plans are this summer.  (what you guys think I make plans that far in advance?)  Well you are correct.

I go home to southern VA May 20.

I actually have a really busy summer planned ahead between lifeguarding, taking 4 classes online (at different times) and running and swimming.  So my summers are always overwhelming.  I like that way because I enjoy to lay by the pool, maybe once per week.  Oh wait-no I don’t-I’d rather be at the beach laying out once per week. 

Hmm. This is a few years ago before I managed the pool.


I’ll actually be driving up to NYC twice this summer.  UGH, whenever I try and get out of NY, it drags me back.  We are dropping my brother off at the Merchant Marine Academy in early July and then I have an open water swim in early August.  So both will be enjoyable.  If you live near the city holla at a sister.

But other then that no scheduled plans yet.  Although I’m hoping to visit one of my besties this summer so we will see.   My summer sounds a lot busier then it really is.

On to my next confession.  I’m not making any May “bloggers” goals because they aren’t for me.  I never follow through and it’s a waste of space.  The only thing I can promise you is that May will be full of my jazzy phrases and socially awkwardness and you’ll have to deal with it twice as much because my brother and I are basically twinnies.

In the gym aspect-

Today I ran 3 miles.  Not exactly what I wanted to do but the arctrainers were all taken at the gym.  Oh well, it didn’t really hurt and it took it at an easy pace for me.  I was really frustrated at first because all my favorite machines were taken and it’s hard to run on a full stomach but I realized my body won’t kill me for doing another machine. 

Also today was some swimming:

1000 warmup

400 IM

5X200 free interval

600 Pull.

It is the first time I have done anything remotely moderate in the pool since season and it went pretty well I think.  No complaints from me.

And finally my eats of today.  Typical Tuesday is filled with a waffle in the morning as always.

For lunch today, I went with Bonna to our dining hall.  Instead of getting my roast beef sandwich, I decided to get an egg white omelet and salad.  I asked for no onions but the worker gave them to me anyways.  Instead of arguing because he is seriously frightening so I choked them down.  Not really I picked every single one out and probably spent a good 15 minutes doing so.

So many onions in my life lately...

Greek salad=feta chese, black olives, spinach tomato, ham, chicken, banana peppers and lots of vinegar. So not so Greek but deliscous!

Kale and Steak. Can I marry my dinner? Is that socially acceptable?


I bought more kale so that is what I had for dinner.  Kale and steak.  I have been craving steak since I finished my half on Sunday-I just haven’t had the time (or energy to go to the store, get some and grill it up).  Don’t let the size fool you, this is 1.25 pounds of steak.

Because that is how I roll.  On a side note-My favorite part of the steak is the fat.  I love love love me some good old steak fat.  Seriously if you enjoy grimey steak fat then please come live at my house and we can cook some up together.

2.       What is the most sore you have ever been from a workout?

For me I think it was when I ran my first 5k in flats.  Racing flats don’t provide any support and my calves were extremely sore.  In fact, I’ll going to have to break them out soon again for my 5ks.  Speaking of racing flats, at what distance do you wear them?  Do you wear them in 10ks?  I am debating if I want to wear mine in my 10k.  I have always worn them in 5ks…

Artichoke Hearts and Burnt Waffles

So I have gone to comment on a few blogs lately and it has said “comments closed”  Is that happening to anyone else?  It’s really bothering me.  It’s like a tease.

You know like that whole being a foodie thing where you have to wait to eat your food so you can take a darn photo.

Um my butt is starving and not really wanting to wait for my darn camera to load and take the perfect angle shot.  No thanks.

Anywho today was my last 6:00am wakeup call for high school.  Next week I go in at 10 and then I’ll be done.   After my getting ready I treated myself to a nice burnt waffle.  No really burnt lemon waffles are delicious but then again I’m a weirdo and love burnt things.

burnt waffles are seriously my favorite...I leave them in and let my waffle maker beep at me for a few minutes.

After school today I made myself some eggs and artichoke hearts.  I’m addicted and love artichokes.  Maybe I was pretending it was an artichoke quiche…who knows…

Eggs and artichoke...who craves that...

I was going to run right after my high school watching today but it started monsooning outside.  Seriously it was windy, rainy and all that jazz so I decided to wait.  I absolutely hate working out after 3pm so it made me a little antsy-Okay a lot. 

Anywho-it wasn’t bad and I had to chunk my running and swimming back to back.  It went by quickly though seeing as swim practices are normally two hours and I was at the gym for about two hours.

Dinner today was a lovely date with a swimming friend of mine Jenna.  We went to the union, which I haven’t been to eat in forever.

San Fernando wrap=melted chedder cheese, broccali, rice and peppers all wrapped up.

I didn’t have too much of an exciting day sadly, except, I’m so mad Alex didn’t go home on ANTM.  She was so close.  So.Close.

The Bomb.Com of Days

Let me tell you blogging world.  I don’t normally brag about how I had an amazing day and this certainly isn’t the greatest day of my life but it was extremely good.

First I woke up this morning and noticed three things were lacking, my knees didn’t hurt, my swimmers ear was gone and my head cold from changing climates (somehow southern VA and Norther n NY don’t have the same weather) had gone away.

So I was already overjoyed.  Then after checking my mail, I received a package from Kaila@Healthy Helper Blog full of bars.   She is either awesomesauce or psychic because there are about 1000 bars in here (did I mention I’m a bar whore?)

Today I ran 9 miles in the heat of Upstate.  I was able to run not only in a tank top but spandex as well.  Go figure.  Well when I got back, I was terribly hot.  I ran in the same outfit I’ll wearing at Flower City to make sure no chafing and burns would occur.  Last long run until Sunday.

I apologize in advance that I thought it was acceptable to take photos with giant sweat marks.

Yes I drink 2 pitchers of this daily. (From target Strawberry-Orange-Banana drink packets are the bomb.com)

But not really from the container...

It was also Christmas because my compression sleeves came in. 

I did shower and put on real girl clothes today I swear!


Today I promised Kelsey I would take her out to dinner at Lobster hours so that is what we did (because her birthday was a week ago).  Other then the beautiful weather, the easy going classes and delicious noms, it was a rather uneventful (but amazing day).

What I ate Wednesday:

I have never participated in this trend and very rarely even post half of my eats of the day.  But just for you guys-I’m diving right in.

For breakfast today, I decided to amuse you with cinnamon French toast bagel thins.  I don’t really keep bread in the house because I don’t eat sandwiches and when I do..I have two pieces and the rest goes bad.  So basically buy a loaf for the one time a month I’ll eat a sandwich.

I make my cinnamon raisin French toast bagels like normal French toast then top with chocolate peanut butter.  Yes it is nomtastic.  What is your favorite type of peanut butter? 

For lunch, Kelsey and I went to the dining hall.  Seriously, how she puts up with me so much is beyond me.  I’m trying to use the meals and so is she so it works out well.  I had a salad with mixed dark greens, strawberries, oranges, olives, blue cheese, and banana peppers.

I also had a flatbread sandwich with roast beef, spinach, tomatoes, mozerella cheese and crushed red peppers.

Then for dinner I had catfish, a baked potato and this salsa that comes with the catfish.

Doesn't this tater look like Mr. Potato Head? I almost couldn't eat it...

And cake batter ice-cream (which is not chocolate so I’m okay.)

Why they gave me two spoons...I don't know.

Speaking of the chocolate project-I’m at day 8 now and I haven’t craved any candy bars or pure sugars of any kind.  Although I would like a rather large piece of cake but that will have to weight.

Well loves I’m off to watch America’s Next Top Model :)
