Sick Dayz

I had planned to have a wordless Wednesday today…but then I got sick yesterday (Tuesday) and had way too much time on my hands.   I didn’t really realize I was sick until I woke up with a runny and stuffy nose.  My main problem was the cornea abrasions (think scratching your eyeball).  Being sick I can handle but scratching my corneas…that hurts…a lot.  So I’ve been stuck

Gotta wear them glasses..

Gotta wear them glasses..while the corneas heal.

Moving on.

I haven’t been sick or needed a sick day (due to normal people reasons) in quite some time.  I honestly can’t even remember the last day I had the flu or a cold.  When I woke up, I pretty much knew I wasn’t going to be able to productive.

It wasn’t a total loss of a day because I found out I got a race number for the Lake Effect Half Marathon in Syracuse in a few weeks.  I’ve been wanting to do this race for a couple of years (last year it sold out but I also broke my arm so that would be fun…running on ice with a broken arm…this year I was closed out because it reached max capacity).  Anyways when I checked my email this morning after 13 hours glorious of sleep that a spot had opened up for me I was more than excited.

So excited I celebrated with another nap…upping me to 15 hours of sleep for the day.

And then I did one more thing and made fueledbylolz a facebook page.  If you want to like it…I’d like that…so I’d like that you are liking me…weird…but if not I completely understand too.   Maybe if I get 100 likes I’ll do a giveaway…isn’t that what I’m supposed to do?  Or do I do the giveaway first to get the likes…I don’t know…I’d have to find some useless foodie junk to give away first I guess.  Anyways-

Other then that I rested, ate lots of pancakes (because it was national pancake day) and just watched TV.  It was a great day.  I hate to move back to the real world today.

Chocolate pancakes and greek yogurt...oh look I'm feeling better.

  1. Aw, feel better! Sometimes it’s nice to be sick and have an excuse to lay in bed all day and catch up on all those random things you wouldn’t have time to do otherwise. I need those pancakes.

  2. I guess some sick days have an upside after all. Pancakes all day long and an entry to a race you’ve been dying to run? I’d say it was a pretty successful day after all. I would just be happy with one of those I think. Hahaha you should come up with some really disgusting (or maybe really unhealthy) foodie thing for a giveaway and see how many people like your page to win it. I’m sure half the blog world would jump all over the opportunity to “win” something, even if they wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.

  3. 15 hours! That’s amazing. I would love that time to just sleep.. that being said I hope you feel better. And kudos to getting an entry into that race. You’ll kill it-per usual :)

  4. I haven’t put up a facebook page for the blog yet…but I’ll get on that eventually. And I did ‘like’ yours!
The last time I remember being sick…it was BAD. As in, all I could do was lie on the couch in pain, attempt to eat something, and then crawl to the bathroom because I couldn’t keep anything down. So..after that, really hoping to avoid sick days for a while (although, that was about a year and a half ago).

  5. Hooray for listening to your body. I hope you start to feel better soon. My blog doesn’t have a Facebook page, but I’ve been thinking about making one. What category did you make yours under? (Public figure? Community? I can’t figure out which to pick.) My fiance used to scratch his corneas all the time (like at least once a month) and finally got Lasik because he was sick of dealing with that.

  6. I always tell myself on sick days that I will catch up on my DVR, watch movies and read. Instead if I have to stay home sick, I lay on the couch and sleep all day.

  7. Oh damn hope you get better quickly, loving those glasses, on anyone else they would look funny yet they look good on you! Yay for getting an entry, that’s always a great feeling, wow only 2 weeks though, gesh you will be tapering next week, if u believe in tapering that is hehe… I dont, although I probably should! Um with sick days, I’ve been sick a lot this yr, I think it’s because of the crazy weather or something but on the positive I watch my fav shows online in bed like a complete lazy fat person, without being fat! :-D Anyway sending u feel better vibes… and omg those pancakes look heavenly!

  8. I’m glad you had pancakes on pancake day, hehe. They look absolutely delicious too. Sometimes I wear my glasses just to take a break from the contacts, I think maybe it’s good for my eyes to do this but I don’t really know. I always feel like a nerd when I wear them now, though. Hardly any of my friends here have seen me in them because I always wear contacts when I run, work out, and usually when I leave the house.

Congrats on getting the race entry!! Can’t wait to read about it.

  9. obviously i will be liking your page! Yes I have a fb page as well :) . Hope you are feeling better. Can you please come make me pancakes, I am pretty sure they only way I will like pancakes is if you make them for me!

  10. I wish i knew what those were haha…haven’t taken one in ages…panckes always make me feel better however as do movies and books on my couch, dozing every now and then. Hope you feel better!

  11. Crap, I’m sorry you’re sick :( I’m like a bear with a sore head on sick days – I can’t stand it. I usually try to get back to normal too soon and then end up being ill for twice as long as if I’d been sensible but the word ‘sensible’ doesn’t tend to enter my vocabulary much. I usually end up catching up on all the movies and TV shows I am too busy (relatively speaking, compared to others I am NOT busy at all :P ) to watch. The last time I was sick I watched 28 Days and 28 Weeks later back to back, which was possibly the most fun I’ve ever had being sick! Love zombie films (well-made ones anyway).

I think I was the third person to ‘like’ you FB page :)

Oh, and pancakes solve everything. Obviously. I hope you’re better soon!

    xxx

    • Oh that does sound fun!

Because you are awesome. I doubt I’ll ever have a blogger with 500000000 facebook likes, which is totally fine. I just am striving to keep the blog away from my pesronal page because I’m getting some unknown friend requests and I hate to turn people away you know?

  12. I can’t stop cracking up over “useless foodie junk”…seriously just made my morning! It amazes me how expensive FAKE packaged junk is. except for Quest Bars I’m so confused by the rage for expensive/fake food. At least Quest Bars are trying to claim there something their not…like no carb bread or powdered peanut butter. ick. (wow sorry for the random tangent! now that I’ve typed it I don’t want to delete!)
I’m bummed your sick! and hope you feel better ASAP!…scratched Cornea’s are THE WORST, 2-days of sufferfest. HEAL!
and YES to the LE Half! it sounds like a miserably awesome race. I would be running in a snowsuit! :) you are one of my cold-weather running hero’s!
    xoxo!

  13. ouch I can’t even imagine scratching my eye like that, hope it is feeling better today. i wish sick days existed but the idea of not getting paid for a day sounds miz so i do not take them too – it sucks to have to!

  14. Aw man being sick is the worst. I had a weekend like that two weeks ago and it was terrible. I hope you’re feeling better today! It must have been pretty sweet to find out you could do that race. I can’t wait to see how it goes!

  15. I think I spend sick days sleeping, watching TV, and just generally feeling sorry for myself. I say ‘I think’ because I can’t even remember the last time I was really sick. Knock on wood? OH! But I do remember the sick days of my youth consisting of lots of Ginger Ale and The Price is Right

  16. Wow. You have a ton of “likes” already! Congrats :) I honestly don’t know if I will ever make a facebook page for my blog. Maybe the time will come where it will be useful for me though… I like yours a lot :) Good pictures. Haha. What made you finally decide to get one?

Loving the pancakes. Hope you feel up to snuff soon so that you can start preparing for that half marathon! :)

  17. No FB page for my blog, I just can’t keep up with alla that shit. I hate being sick HATE IT!! It makes me want to kill someone. I think scratching my eye would make me pull out the shanker. Eff that.

  18. Aw feel better, I’m a bit sick today too. Not enough to take a day off but enough to feel a little out of it. And hack my kind up a bit. Those pancakes would instantly make me feel better! Delicious.

  19. Hope you’re feeling better, Hollie! Being sick is the worst. :( That’s great you got a bib for the half-marathon! Hopefully it won’t be too cold/icy/snowy, but you never know with CNY … ;)

  20. Ughh today was my first sick day in forever – I also have a baller immune system and I get a cold about once a year – but the last time I’ve been sick enough to keep me home from school/work…..I don’t even remember. I think it was high school. I like your approach of sleeping and eating, I had zero appetite so I drank soda and read trashy magazines and called all my friends (sometimes I love being two hours behind everyone…only 3pm here and everyone back home is off work wahoo, more time for me to annoy you all!)…And postponed the grad school interview I had tomorrow in case I’m still not feeling better. WOOT.

  21. I am an awful sick day person. I never know what to do. I don’t nap well even when I am sick. Basically I get anxious about everything I might be missing… Good thing I don’t get sick very often. But my cure? OJ and sudafed. miracles I tell you miracles

  22. I hope you’re feeling better today. Sometimes sick days are the best because you can catch up on a bunch of “life stuff” that you don’t get to do during the workweek and don’t want to do over the weekend.

    Exciting about the race too!
