PMB

First, peoples thoughts about yesterday’s training and eating was quite interesting.  It was all over the place.   I encourage you to read the comments (because normally comments to any post are my favorite too).  In all, we concluded that you should eat what works for you and “listen to your body”.

Moving on:

I have fallen off the wagon with PMB I think.  I need to either a. promote it more (and create an entire campaign with giveaways, promote the crap out of my blog and became a famous blogger), or b. just keep doing it for me and if someone else wants to chime in and do it for them…then I’d love that too.

OH wait a second and hold the front door?

I never started this to turn into a campaign or an event to rule the blog world.  I started a physical, mental and brag session each week (after pulling Thursday randomly out of my butt) because I wanted to celebrate my accomplishments thus far in a week span.  It’s not quite Friday but just close enough that I’m sure I’ve made some sort of accomplishments throughout the week.   I think people are point blank to hard on themselves to begin with.  Remember in school, when you would have to grade yourselves on projects?  I seem to always give myself the lowest grade.

So with that, let’s celebrate some physical, mental and brags of the week.

Physical: I’ve started to pin my bangs back and I’m digging how my face is framed again.  I’m not sure if I’ll grow them back out (it was kind of a short lived bang spree) or keep them but I do know I want to change my hair somehow.

Mental: Mentally, yesterday was the first day I ran after my race on Saturday.   I haven’t really been working out all week and mentally it’s hard but feels great.  As an athlete you begin to question will not working out for a few days will ruin fitness I’ve built up over the last few years…the answer is no, no it won’t.

As proven here when I didn't run for 2 months due my cyst and then ran a 24 minute 6k...

As proven here when I didn’t run for 2 months due my cyst and then ran a 24 minute 6k…

Brag: I can’t reveal too much on the blog but I’ve been working on the best Valentines Day gift my feeble mind has ever thought of.  It’s kept my mind pretty busy and I’ve spent as much time working on it that I would working out LOL.

Question for you:  What are your PMB’s of the week?

  1. Awww you’re so cute! A valentines day gift? That is adorable, girl. Now I’m going to sit and wait anxiously until February 14th to see what this mystery gift is. Kidding, I probably won’t do that, because then I’ll be that person who has no life, but I’ll be excited to see what it is ;)
And good for you for pushing past this week. Chances are, this unplanned half week of rest is only going to make you stronger, mentally and physically.

  2. Love the bang picture! Wow you are good to already be working on Valentines day…wait I guess its only a month away. Cute that you’re putting a lot of time into it.

  3. Way to plan ahead for Valentine’s Day! I’ll be excited to see what you come up with if you end up blogging about it. I have similar feelings about my hair right now. I want to change it, too. But then I chicken out, usually…. haha.

  4. I’m glad your back to running after your race :) . Was kinda scared when I saw you didn’t run again right away but at least you weren’t injured. And your hair and outfit look super cute, it’s neat when your hair grows or changes and you can do something new and cool with it.

  5. Love your hair like that!! I had bangs for a little while and ended up growing them out right away haha took up too much time for me in the morning lol awww Valentines Day… I can’t believe how it’s only a month away lol

  6. I get so bored with my hair too!! I recently (well in September) cut off TWELVE inches. It’s something I toyed with for a good year and finally did it. I am so glad–it looks so much better on me and all my split ends are gone now :)

Sometimes a recovery week is the best thing for our bodies. Can’t wait to hear about this v-day gift. My boyfriend and my one year is the 29th and his gift just came in the mail. I’m SO EXCITED to give it to him. Now I just have to wait patiently lol.

  7. I’ve seen your PMB for the past couple weeks and think it’s a great idea. We need to sometimes decompress and be proud of what we’ve done, even over the past 7 days!

And man! You’re ahead on V-Day! Geez! Making us married people look bad. ;)

  8. Pretty girl, I love the bangs pinned!!! Hmmm my PMBs…. P – my scale is just dropped right now, I know fast weight loss is not ideal but I’ll take it for week two!

  9. I think you suit your hair both ways. I really should get bangs because of my huge forehead, but I also have a fat face/chubby cheeks so bangs make that look even worse!

I wanted to chime in on the last post, and I agree that both the post and the comments were more than worth reading. Sadly the topic is such an emotive issue for me that whenever I wrote a response it came off as really rude (even for me!) and quite aggressive…and I didn’t want to start being so abrasive towards commenters on someone else’s blog. Bottom line is that I agreed with you though…I have to wince a little every time I see the phrase ‘listen to your body’ because if I did that I would just lie in bed all day and eat 24/7.

    xxx

  10. You are so cute with the valentine’s day gift. I have actually been wearing my hair more pulled back and I like it as well. I like the way your hair looks both ways to be honest, you already have a pretty framed face!

  11. More time on a Valentine gift than working out? You must really like this guy ;) I’m really going to need some more deets though, because Valentine’s is sneaking up on me and I still have no idea what to do for the boy :P And your hair does look really pretty pinned back, but then again it looks good the other way too. Nothing wrong with changing it up to keep things interesting.

  12. Since seeing that mouse shirt on your Instagram and I am obsessed!!! I love it! I am whoa curious to see what you make for vday. You better share that shit come Feb 14!!

  13. Ah I need to start thinking of Valentine’s Day ideas. Guys are so hard!
Also, I really liked your mental part of the post. I’m always afraid a few days or a week with no running will mean I’ll be back to square 1. I need to realize this is definitely not the case!

  14. Bangs are always fun cause you can leave them down someday and pin them back the next… Lots of possibilities. I had side bangs for a long time and let them grow out… Kinda miss them. My brag is 3 miles with my crazy dog this week, his PDR! Wait maybe that would be his brag? Lol oh well :)

  15. I am so beyond impressed with your ability to say “F that workout I need to heal” I think we float in the same boat when it comes to workouts: it’s so much harder to say NO run than it is to go run…
I had to go back and comment again on your fueling post, I have no idea why I am so into the fuel topic lately.
hahaha YES to a wonderful Valentine’s gift!!
    have a great Thursday!
    xoxo!

  16. Ahh I wanna know what you’re doing for Valentines Day haha Jimmy is coming out the day after :) so I want to do something special but I am feeling very uncreative haha I’m glad you’re feeling better after a few days off – how is everything going with how you’ve been feeling?

  17. Love the new look with the bangs pulled to the side- that’s what I’m currently doing since my “bangs” have grown out like crazy and are in that awkward stage… And props to you for taking rest but still being productive :P I think I started to see Vday supplies out in mid-December, that’s redic!

  18. I can COMPLETELY relate to the fear of taking a few days off from exercise then trying to run again – for some irrational reason I always think I won’t be able to make it past 2 or 3 miles. Dumb, I know.

AHH I Can’t wait to hear what this epic gift is!

  19. Sarah can attest to the fact that just yesterday I was PETRIFIED that the time that I’d taken off “hard” running (I was still doing some running and elliptical, but nothing like I had been running before) coupled with not doing the best with my eating had cost me all my speed for forever. After my run today? Obviously not the case. Glad that you took the time to take care of yourself.
Also, bangs pulled back? Adorable. It makes you look … softer? As in not as harsh? A very nice balance for your blunt and to the point personality. Love the personality and you rock with or without bangs, but glad to see that you’ve found a change that you can be proud of. The great thing about hair — it grows back!! (Mind you, growing it out is a pain … should have quit this comment while I was ahead!)

    • I’m in awe that you can pull out those runs. Believe me, you won’t lose fitness (especially for a marathon…I just read your sub 3 hour goal) in a day, week or even month. I know a lot of people who have cross trained weeks of their marathon training to prevent injury. :-)

  20. Cannot wait to hear about the big V day project! I love creative holiday celebrations! And I like the bangs pinned back as well! It looks really cute on you. And AMEN to the whole doing PMB for yourself! I for one love the posting series and hope you continue it…whether one person participates or 100!

  21. awwwwwwwww I can’t wait to hear about this epic valentine’s day project! Sounds like Tim won’t know what hit him lol. I love the no-bangs look too – you’re lucky in that you can pull off both looks but personally I like seeing yo face! :-D

  22. PBM should remain for you and if others jump in (like me) good for them. I know PBM has helped me self reflect a ton! I am happy you realize that a week or two off wont change your fitness level. It just gives your body time to repair girl! Can I know the V-day gift tomorrow?!?
