New Year’s Resolution: Streaking

So I have decided to go streaking in 2013.  I have never committed myself to any sort of “streak” minus a few times freshman and sophomore year of college but I’m not really referring to that sort of streaking… I’m a mature college graduate now.  (lol)

I have decided for the year of 2013, I’m going to do something to engage my core every single day.  If that is p90x so be it.  20 crunches?  Okay.  A plank?  Good for me.  Everyday I’ll dedicate some sort of time even if it’s 30 seconds to strengthen my core.

And with that I leave you to have a Happy New Year’s.  Hopefully 2013 will bring me a strong core.  We shall see considering I didn’t make this New Year’s resolution to touch my toes.  I could never commit to a run streak (god knows I’d be injured) but a core streak.  I know so many injuries in people running…swimming…cycling…whatever, that could have been prevented by having a strong core.  I’m not talking about a visible core (please I like to eat) but strong.

I’ll probably be hashtagging it corewhore because that is another one of my favorite lines.  Feel free to join me…maybe then I’ll actually really commit.  #corewhore

Questions for you:

1.       Do you make New Year’s Resolutions?

I actually feel a bit silly doing this.

2.       Do you have a strong core?

  1. I don’t make resolutions at the beginning of each new year, but I do have goals I hope to accomplish. I love the #corewhore idea! You’re right–having a strong core is so important. During the off-season, I made it a point to do core work about three times a week, but upping the ante to everyday can only yield better (and faster!) results, right? Happy New Year!

  2. That’s actually such an awesome idea. I’m going to be a corewhore too. Maybe, we’ll see how long I last haha but it’s definitely a more realistic goal than saying you’ll run everyday. Oh, and can’t wait to hear about your double races!

  3. Awesome goal! I actually love core work and look forward to it literally everyday. Honestly I have been committing to it since high school. It improved my dancing so much and now I always feel so confident and strong in everything I do. I think this will help your running leaps and bounds!

  4. Happy New Year, Hollie! That’s a pretty solid 2013 goal. I just wrote about my resolutions and posted it. As for a strong core….ummmmmmmmmm…..uhhhhhhhhhh…… :)

  5. Happy New Year!!! I very much do not have a strong core haha. And my resolution is to finally start putting off the pounds I gained over the past few years. I know it’s cliche, but I need to get wedding ready ;)

  6. This is great. I’m definitely a “corewhore” when it comes to strength exercises. I’m not sure how strong my core actually is anymore (it used to be a lot stronger) but there’s still some strength there.

    Happy New Year!

  7. Whenever someone says the word “streaking,” the first thing that pops into my head is Will Ferrel in Old School. Love it. I didn’t really make any resolutions for this year… I just want to keep working on becoming the best version of myself that I can. Happy New Year, Hollie :)

  8. I actually hate core work but I don’t mind planks and yoga, and I try to keep my core stable with lifting free weights… but crunches, no to the way… not liking those! Anyway, good luck with streaking, I’m sure you can do it because there’s no set mileage per day so even if you just run a mile you’ve accomplished the goal for that day :) . Good luck!

  9. Resolutions aren’t really my thing – I mean, it’s an arbitrary date. Why not change something straight away, you know? If it’s good for motiviation I do understand though, I’m just too cynical for it to work :P

I have a strong core in terms of being able to do pilates, ab exercises, planks etc. but it doesn’t look strong because it’s not defined enough. I’m not one of ‘those’ bloggers posing with their damn sixpack – too many ‘love handles’ (eew) for that.

But you’re spot on that a strong core is absolutely essential to speedy runners like yourself.

  10. I want to be a corewhore just so I can use that hashtag every day…one of the most awesome things I’ve ever seen for sure ;)

  11. Best hashtag ever. Rowing gave me a strong core (my SI joint makes for a pretty painful reminder when I’m not engaging it, so cheers to that I guess), but I’m not going to lie — core burn is probably my favourite muscle burn. Obliques most of all. Definitely think that this is a great streak for you to focus on. Can’t wait to see #corewhore trending.

  12. I was hoping that your resolution was another kind of streaking ;) kidding! I love this – I’m going to try and do this with you. SOME sort of core exercise once a day, definitely do able :) happy new year!!

  13. I always say to myself I can be in better shape but that is about it : ) Any major changes I have made A) quit smoking, B) start running, C) find a new job, D) move to a big city – happy randomly and with out forewarning. I like the whole idea of making things better as they come along. I hope we get some sick ab pics later in the year… ha! Strong core… I think so, I could be wrong though, but I think I’m a pretty tough cookie!

  14. Oh gosh this is so great! I’m attempting to streak with low carb this year! so far so good… 3 days in. lol. I might have to join you with the core streaking– even though i’ve already lost 2 days! Great idea!
