Nutella on Nutella on Nutella

I won’t beat around the bush here.  One of my favorite all time favorite foods is Nutella.  Therefore, the end of the year NEEDS to be celebrated in this fashion.  Duh.  I may not be obsessed with peanut butter…but Nutella…that is another story.  I eat Nutella and yogurt sandwiches about 4/5 days out of work.  I thank my freshman year roommate for showing me this glorious substance.

Why did I never think of Nutella on Nutella pancakes and waffles.  Who knows…but now these are my favorite ever.  A bit more work than typical waffles but worth it.

Ingredients:

½ cup flour (peanut flour or whatever flour you have on hand).  The waffles pictured were made with peanut flour, but I’ve made them a couple of times with wheat flour as well.

¼ cup cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

1 egg

¼ cup melted Nutella (You can play with the measurement but I like a lot of Nutella)

½ cup milk

Sweetener to taste, I added about ¼ cup stevia (cup for cup…I have a sweet tooth…obviously).

Add all the wet ingredients (minus the Nutella).  I found that melting the Nutella for about 1 minute then adding it along with the dry ingredients worked the best for mixing. You really have to power through it to mix it all up. Then pour and cook on either a griddle or waffle maker.  It has worked for me on both.

I then proceeded to top it with another 2 tablespoons of melted Nutella.  Meaning for me this recipe had 6 tablespoons of Nutella.  It’s cool.

But really, if I ever tried to tell you such and such pancakes were the best…I was lying because these are.

Question for you?

  1. 1.       Do you like Nutella?
  2. 2.       What is your favorite flavor of peanut butter?

I still prefer normal peanut butter but like Nutella far better.  Ha ha.

  1. I love everything about this post.
I’m a nutella lover..eating out of the jar with no bread kinda fanatic.
The one time we didn’t have any nutella in the house, I did my best to replicate it and melted toblerone in the microwave- soooooooo good!

    Happy new Year Hollie!!

  2. Nutella, waffles … I like those words. :) I first tried Nutella in my 5th grade French class, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I can’t really buy it a lot, though, because one jar doesn’t last very long. ;) Happy New Year!

  3. I have only had Nutella once in my life. At IHOP in he crepes. They were good/great. my BFF always had banana chocolate sandwiches for lunch and I thought she was SO WEIRD. But I will be making these ASAP. Your waffle recipes are the best. No sugar coating it they just are!

  4. That looks good, but honestly… I know this is blasphemy… I don’t care for Nutella. I really like the Dark Chocolate Dreams Peanut Butter though, I bet I could make this type of recipe with that instead. But all your recipes do look delicious :) .

  5. I’ve actually never had Nutella because of allergies, but the way everyone seems to rave about it makes me feel like I’m really missing out. I guess I could try making my own chocolate flavored AB, but for now I’m just sticking to my tried and true – plain and roasted :D

  6. Oh yes, I do like Nutella! Due to my lack of self-control I never keep a jar in my pantry but my mum does … and guess where I’m spending the semester break at right now :D ?!

Hope you’ll have a great New Year’s Eve!

  7. I used to get the big rold gold pretzels (like the huge sour dough) and power through like 1/2 a container of nutella in college. Oh sigh. I haven’t bought it in a while though, my will power to not eat the entire thing in one sitting is non existent so I just don’t bother buying it any more. Maybe one day!

  8. I have a legit love affair with Nutella. :D On bananas, in smoothies, in baked sweet potatoes, on waffles…man you got me craving it now! I saw a Nutella jar the other day that was bigger than my head and was so tempted to buy it haha!

  9. This is why you are one of my favorite bloggers. This looks divine and since I now have a waffle maker – I have a feeling I will be making this combo very, very soon. Finger lickin’ good

  10. I’m sad to say that I think I ran through one tbsp more than my fair share of nutella while I was a rower, and the magic has been lost. That being said, I think I’m going back in the archives — I’m home for the next few mornings and I’m thinking it’s time my waffle maker got a good workout. ;)

  11. NUTELLA IS LIKE CRACK. chocolate hazelnut butter, how can you not like that. these pancakes are like manna from heaven or whatever. nicely done, hollie!

  12. I generally eat my Nutella directly out of the jar. Sometimes peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches. Nutella banana and fluff sandwiches are purely orgasmic… I def want to try these with peanut flour! Do they taste like Reese’s pancakes??
