So I’ve been asked to share some more gym routines that I like to do. As some of you may or may not know-I’m a big arm girl. (That sounds awkward…but you get it). Nothing feels better to me then working my arms. Although I could talk about doing pushups and pull ups all day. I have always had a habit of defaulting to things like bicep curls or tricep extensions. I also enjoy workouts that don’t take a lot of items and giant machines. Workouts I could possibly do in my apartment when it’s blizzarding out and bonding with meatheads is less than appealing.
Here is my all-time favorite shoulder and arms workout. I do this entire set 2 times through all with 12 pound dumbbells. Unless stated, I also do 15 reps. I’m not saying this is a perfect routine by any means…just what works for me. Creature of habit I am.
Shoulder press
Bicep Curls
Tricep Extensions
Alternating between bicep and side curls
Dips (maximum reps)
Upright rows
Tricep kick backs
Dumbbell flys
Alternating bicep and side curls
Tricep Extensions
Small weighted circles (I use 5 pounds during this and do 1 minute forward, 1 minute backward-2 minutes through) This should be the most painful thing of the entire set loop
Hammer curls
I then do a bit of core just because
100 crunches
2 minute plank
Then do it again! The whole workout takes me roughly 40 minutes or so.
Questions for you:
- 1. What is your favorite body part of work?
- 2. What is your favorite arm workout?
Shake and weight? (That’s for you Rachel B!

*LOVE* to work arms!! Glamour muscles
Sounds like a p90x quote
!
I love working out my back! Lately I’ve also been loving leg workouts, which is strange because I used to hate them. But I’m definitely coming around to them now that I’m seeing some progress with them!
For arm workouts my favourite is shoulder presses!
YEAH! When I get sucked into seeing results I tend to work harder!
The only arm workout I do it push ups and that’s only because I’ve been told too, lol. I have no idea why but I am awful at strength training…as in awfully lazy. I’d rather just tag on an extra mile at the end of my workout. You inspire me!
1. My favorite to work out is shoulders!
2. My favorite arm workout is a weighted tricep dip with arms on one bench and feet on another bench with weight on legs.
I’ve been trying to tone my arms a bit
Gotta keep em lookin good
Hollie, your first paragraph basically sums up my strength training philosophy.
I love, love, love working on my arms (lower body not so much, ha). In terms of strengthening your upper body for swimming, are there any specific exercises there aren’t part of this workout you recommend? I do bicep curls, tricep extensions, tricep kickbacks, pushups, etc., on a regular basis, and I really want to start building my “swimming muscles” during the winter months.
HAHAHA yesssss!!! partner shake weighting olympics here we come!!
i like core work with a yoga ball.. i like this workout because after words you can say “ohhh its a deep burn” in the voice of Ron Burgundy
LOVE THIS!
I love to work my arms too! It is much more fun than legs or stomach
Oh you go Hollie! Work those arms!
again, another great workout I can try. I am so bad and rarely work my arms. i need to get on that, I know it helps my running overall
It’s really helped my arm swing a ton!
Looks like a great workout! I’ll have to try it out. I like doing arms… just not push ups haha those kill me, but other than that I do like working my abs in Pilates.. the burn makes it all better haha
I love working my core the most. I’m not big on weight training at all, even though I know it improves your running. I usually do the typical arm exercises when I do lift, like bicep curls and tricep extensions. My workout barely lasts 10 minutes when I do them, and that’s a lot for me, lol
I used to be the same way until I got into this LOL!
I can’t lie…I own a shake weight! HAHAH! I never use it..but it is definitely something I laugh about. I need to work my arms more, they have toned up over the past year..but only thanks to running nothing else crazy. I love to work my legs the most..but not with weights..just with things like cycling and running..god I am boring. HA.
HAHAHA. You always make me smile! Just saying!
Work it girl…killer routine! My fav to work are triceps and shoulders! BTW..congrats again on being cleared to run again!!!
I just tried out a new one today that I was quite fond of, simultaneous bicep curl to shoulder press, while arms are up squat, and reverse the motion for one! My favorite is legs, I am a bottom heavy gal and it always amusing me the amount I can squat / leg press and so on!
This one looks awesome! I’m just getting started on working out so I pretty much do what the DVD’s tell me to do at this point
Your circuit looks awesome!
I am so bad with strength training. I always say I should do it …. but then I don’t. The only real arm workout I’ve done in awhile was swimming but you know generally I just run. I give you so much credit for lifting though!
Most of the yoga I do is focused on my core.
I work out my arms by carrying my 20 pound toddler everywhere. Seriously, after she was born at 7# my arms became so buff from carrying her. It’s actually my favorite thing about my post baby body.
What an awesome workout. I’m loving all these workouts your giving us. you are just a beastttt my dear.
ps. i saw that your able to start running slowly again, YAY!!
