Travel Musings

I wasn’t sure if I was going to write a blog about my travels because they didn’t seem too thrilling.  I mean, you know I swam a couple of open water swims, bonded with my relatives and ate some food.  But I decided upon it to make myself seem more “personable” as I do exist outside of running and swimming.  Even though I feel like the majority of this blog will be me bitching about the intensely hilly run I did.

To get the running aspect out of the way, I did a long run of 15 miles and thanks to my new GPS watch and program could figure out the hill inclines.  Isn’t this neat?

I also saw this sign which I found to be hilarious.

While I was running, my dad was scuba diving with his brother.  I’m not scuba certified so it isn’t like I could join them (though I would love too one day!).  My dad was looking for fish for dinner.  (and yes that is a spear gun on his leg…it scares the bageezes out of me too).

Moving on, we picked up my brother from his school and went to dinner that night.  (newish readers, my brother goes to the USMMA which is a military school…he can’t just waltz out and had to get special permission to even leave campus).  But Matt and I are really close and we are always causing problems together.

In fact, there was a fire drill in our hotel…lucky for us it was just malfunctioning fire alarms…so we used the elevator to get downstairs while they were going off.

And took a picture in our classy ways.

Other then family bonding, relative chatting (and being 5 miles from NYC and never making it there)-it was rather mellow..which is fine by me..it’s exactly what I needed!

Question for you:

Do you have family reunions?

This is the only one I have.  My dad’s family all lived there for a bit, so they love to come back every year.

Have fire alarms ever gone off (outside of firedrills at school)?

I actually had a fire alarm go off in a restaurant I was at last year too.  They had to remake all the food because it got cold while we were outside.  It ended up being a 2+ hour adventure at that restaurant.
