Race Pace Training Week

Sunday training blogs are still my favorite blogs to type but still mostly because I stare mindlessly at my training schedule and tell you what I did.  This week, I had both a road race and a swim race (well the swim race is at 9:00..today…so there).

This week was a bit of a lower mileage week for me personally, because I did 7 miles on Monday instead of a normal 10. I also didn’t double as frequently this week as I normally do, resulting in lower mileage.  I’m not complaining…just stating the facts.

The heat made a lot of these runs pretty brutal, but I just remind myself that I’m not trying to PR in training runs.  I’m simply just trying to make it through the summer without being injured and having a few speed workouts here and there.

Monday and Tuesday were easy running days.

Wednesday I had a 5k road race, (I’ll finish typing that and finding photos tomorrow) which I ran in 19:31.  I must really enjoy that 6:17 pace because I’ve done that exact time for a few races.  Apparently the course was a little long but I’m not really one to log a 3.2 mile race or be so upset about it.  I hate that people will jump at a course if it’s too long but they won’t accept when it’s short and it’s still a PR.

Moving on-I got in the pool for a total of 2.5 hours this week and I’m doing an open water 3k (or have done that today…).

 So in short:

Running: 76 miles

Swimming: 6600 meters

No p90x.

My goals for next week is to hit a high mileage week before tapering for my next race the following week.  If it isn’t 100+ degrees-I won’t find this as much of a challenge.  If it is…well then it will be hard…I think it’s supposed to be a bit cooler though-thank goodness.  No road races (or swimming for that matter) for me next week at all.

As far as swimming goes, I don’t know how much time I’ll have so keeping it casual with that.  P90x, I’ve just worn myself out with that.  I’ll get back to it..eventually…

Question for you:

How were your workouts this week?

Is it hot where you are?
