Human Discoballing

Today’s WEGO was based on pinning some things (health related) from pinterest.  I’m not saying that this is true for every health related topic on there-but the majority of fitness and health pins are something along the lines of:

“Strong is the new skinny”

Or some bs like that.  I’m sorry but every single one of those girls (while they may be strong) is still extremely skinny.  What kind of health message is that saying?

Not really one I care to pin and since my health focus is more fitness related-I’m sitting this WEGO out and opting for one of the bonus and sub prompts they sent me as well.

WEGO: Bonus round, Define a happy place.

I’ll preface this with I’m 100% joking (and I’ve drank a total of 2 times this semester…).  I do, however, never regret going out.

But my happy place (Saturday night) was at the bars.  It all started around 10pm, when I was having a rather rough night.  I was stressed with school, had plans broken to hang out with people and everything just kind of piled up.  I was laying on my sofa, having a girlie cry fest and my housemate was like…let’s go to the bars!

Okay fine (and got ready in about 5 minutes).  I became a human discoball and proceeded to tell everyone that.  I got this dress at Express forever ago, but never had an occasion to wear it.

Then I ended up having a few drinks (and for me, since I don’t drink…that is a lot).

My housemate and I. :)

So my happy place from 11pm-2am on Saturday-Sunday was at the bars dancing.  I don’t regret it.  I did manage to take a few photos (which for me is like epic proportions).

I mention Justin time to time. He ran the 50k in my area in December....and not that is not my hand.

A friend of mine Kirstin. (Please note the photobomber in the background. ;) )

The photobomber himself (someone I run with often) Tim! Nice enough to take a real life photo with me...good ole iphone quality of course!

Questions for you:

1.       Do you like to stay in or go out?

I’m normally a stay at it sort of gal, but it’s nice to go out sometimes.  :)

2.        Where is your happy place?

Mine is normally just relaxing and hanging out in a warm environment.  lolz

  1. I pretty much stay in. I would love to go out more, but really, it’s kinda difficult when you’re 26. My friends are having kids and all that jazz, or either it’s pretty much all couples activities. I’m fine with that, being married and all, but my husband works and goes to school so it’s pretty much solo for me. But, I have a good time hanging out with friends at races, sporting events, track practices, etc :) .

I’m not a fan of those Strong is the New Skinny pics on pinterest. Disclaimer- I am what most people would refer to as “skinny” or thin. I think strength is something to be celebrated, but those pictures are still celebrating looks. What about mental strength? Persevering through really tough times? My middle aged coworker has cancer and is still working, not letting it slow her down. Where’s a picture of her empowering strength? To me, THAT should be the new ideal…

  2. Haha. I love photos from nights out & photobombers. Photobombing is awesome. I probably drink like twice a year but always have an awesome time and get disgustingly drunk on like a few drinks lol ;)

  3. I’m glad you had a fun night and let loose!! Personally, I HATE going out…but I think 65% of that is because I have the biggest social anxiety in the world and I’m SO awkward. I’m aaaaall about staying in and having a low key night with my boyfriend. I think that would be my happy place…which I guess I’m in all the time since we live together! There’s one park that I run at also that’s my happy place…I make sure not to go there too often so I don’t ruin the magic of it :D

  4. Holy cow. we actually are real life twinnies. I go out MAYBE 2 times a year (although I already have plans to go out next weekend…which would be THREE) but I went out on Saturday, too! I even HAD A DRINK. I can’t believe how crazy I have been!

  5. I’m completely like you, I prefer to stay in, but every once and awhile I get the urge to go out. So I do enjoy going out sometimes and my tolerance is super low too! Like it’s kinda ridiculous.

  6. I love the human disco ball dress! I think you need to rock it more often.

My happy place is either after a really good race or tanning on the beach. Unfortunately I probably won’t have either for a while. I don’t go out much but when people drag me out I always have a good time.

  7. I love that dress! So festive!

I used to love going out! I felt like if I stayed in I would be missing out on something. But, now that I’m 29, I love staying in. It is sad how much I love just being at home. We make plans and sometimes we wish we didn’t just so we didn’t have to get ready and go out! I guess it just comes with age! Oh, and the baby! :)

  8. I like to do both – stay in and go out! I try to balance it out though so I’m not doing too much of one thing but lately it’s been a lot of staying in. Now if only I was more productive when I stayed in I would be a happier camper!
