My Mind is About as Spazzy as This Post

I know this is a great title eh?  I wouldn’t lie to you guys, I only speak the truth.

Guess what.  I’m still not packed and leave for school tomorrow.  My things are not in Lorrarine, because come to find out-I have terrible and quite dangerous breaks so she’s at the shop.  Please get that fixed before I leave.

Before you read my words of wisdom check out these girls:

This blog is more or less a collection of things racing through my mind at this current second.  Today I retired off USS Craycray for the day and boarded The Cray Cray Express.

So I’ll just going to ramble away about them all.  First, I have woken up the past few days feeling great.  I feel so much more confident in myself lately.  I don’t where it came from but I have woken up looked at myself and said “wow I feel awesome.”  Everyday this week. Considering it’s day 3 of the week, I think it’s a good start.

I have also started compiling a list of races I want to do in the Spring.  For me right now, it makes me realize that running happens all the time.  Although I’m not doing it now-I will be able to in the Spring and there are plenty of races then.

I haven’t updated you on my injury progression lately so we will start there.  Actually, I’ll start at the beginning because I never really explained it.

I have had 4 xrays and 2 mri’s done since my injury now.

The first 2 xrays and MRI showed nothing.  The doctors diagnosed me with severe tendinitis and that I could begin running again.  So I did and I wasn’t in pain so I was happy.  It felt stiff but not bad.

Last Saturday, I got an MRI done (to clear me for cross country) and it showed that I had a stress fracture.  How all the other Xrays and other MRI missed that…I don’t know.  It’s my luck you know.

So today I had a followup to a cardiologist and bring on another xray.  I was afraid that they were going to tell me, I refractured my tibia and would have to wait another  full 8 weeks to recover.  Since I mean, they told me I could run slowely again, and I did.  Running on a stress fracture is like playing with fire and stupid.

But alas, that isn’t what they said at all.  They said that I am at week 6 of an 8 week healing process and my bone is almost completely healed.  He said if he had seen me and caught this when it happened, I would have been casted right on up for 4 weeks and probably would have healed faster.

Coulda and shoulda, I’m not complaining.  Life happens and I’m nearly healed and could still potentially run.  Have the best season ever?  Well it’s my second one so I don’t have much comparisons eh?

And yes the Earthquake was centered about an hour and a half north of me and didn’t effect anything in my life, but today I had bigger fish to fry as my parents BMW SUV was rear ended (while I was driving) and that is the car I bring all my crap up to school in…tomorrow.  No it’s my fault but please don’t text and drive and don’t hit on me when you totaled a 60,000 dollar car.  (Yes-Chuck that is why I never drive that thing..these things happen)

When they asked if their were any injuries my dad proceeded to tell them about the turtle whose cage was completly smashed in the backseat.  To a tee he said “Well actually there was a turtle in the trunk and we thought he had passed since his cage was thrown to the back seat.  You’ll be happy to know he went into his shell and came out safely.”  Please don’t wonder where I got my sarcasm from.

Been in a car accident?  Chat me up about it.

  1. lol i hit a car older than ME in the mall parking lot just after I got my full license….. I PANICED thinking my parents were going to kill me. they actually were like “dude. you made us drive ALL the way across town to see a tiny scratch on your car? We’re going for dinner. See you at home” ahahah

  2. Oooof, sorry about the crash! That’s worse than the earthquake but I must admit, since I’d never felt an earthquake before, it was a little freaky! As long as there wasn’t tooooo much damage, its all good!

  3. no accidents for me while driving thank god but hahahahahahahahahaah your dad is HILARIOUS about the turtle ahhahahahaha sorry but i am DYING
im glad you are ok tho cause accidents are so so scary
and i felt the earthquake in my apartment all the shit on my walls were shaking and my door was shaking at its hinges and my roommates were freaking hahahah i however didnt think it was a big deal…i was more concerned that something was gonna fall adn break off my shelves so i stood and held everything in place cause im cool like thattt

  4. So glad to hear you are healing! Woo hoo!!! Ah car accidents… I was in one as you may know and I broke my face.. Fun times haha

  5. So happy you’re okay!!!
But honestly bahhahaha the turtle comment oh man. That made my day. I’m glad he’s okay too!
I’ve been in a car accident once when I was really young and the guy rear-ended us but I just remember my mom throwing her arm across my chest like typical mom’s do and we were all okay.

  6. Good luck with your car and school. Sucks about all the xrays and mris. :/ I think that’s a good idea… I should plan for spring when I know I can run fully and such again :)

yep been in a few car accidents… I hate driving now ://. one was me pulling away from the curb like an idiot and getting hit… another one was pretty serious… not my fault and there was like $8,000 of damage (covered thankfully). I’ve also had an old lady tbone me and I ended up with a concussion and in the hospital and such so that was superfun… and been in the car (not driving) when it’s been rear-ended a few times.

oh and thanks im now stalking lifeafterswim like a hardcore creeper :)

  7. Mannnn. At least the accident wasn’t your fault. I get so pissed when people are on the phone while driving.

A stress fracture? That sucks, but at least your recovery time is almost up. Are you still going to do cross country though?

  8. Sorry to hear about the accident! I’m glad you’re ok though.

I’ve been in 2 accidents and neither of them were my fault. I was rear ended (in bumper to bumper traffic — a 16 year old girl in a VW beetle slammed into me) and hit head on — I was going straight through the intersection and this fool going the opposite way decides to turn left into my car. Thanks. Both times my car wasn’t damaged too bad — but it still sucked.

  9. Yaaay I’m so glad you’re healing up nicely!! Basically my second doctor said the same thing about my toe – that if I saw him I would’ve been treated properly and healed much faster, but what can ya do. You’ll be able to get back in shape and at least participate this season. But I think you’ll kick ass anyway just because you’re Hollie and that’s what you do.
never been in a car accident in the one year I’ve been driving. hoping to keep this up…

  10. I had an accident involving a school parking lot, a girl driving a truck #1 way too big for school #2 she shouldn’t have been driving it, and my mom’s car. I was in the process of putting my car into reverse to back into a parking space when she backed into the hood of my mom’s car as she was trying to back into the parking space next to me. Yea, I was pissed cuz first of all I didn’t like this girl, and second of all because I couldn’t get in touch with my mom who I had just dropped off at work. Eventually everything worked out and we were paid by their insurance company for the damages thanks to the parking attendant who saw the whole thing and talked to the cops about what she saw which was probably in my favor.

Wow, long story. Can you tell I really didn’t like this girl? haha!

Glad you’re OK and the turtle survived ;) Texting is illegal while driving now in Wisco! But you can still legally read a text while driving? Doesn’t make sense to me at all.

  11. I have been in 3 car accidents. One of which was mine because I turned left into a Wawa where you couldnt make a left turn. OF COURSE it was infront of a Wawa. What else is new? Oh, did I mention there was no sign and the other girl was driving up the side passed stop cars because she wanted to turn right at the stop light? Yeahhhh, about that.

The other one was a stupid little one in a parking lot. Not my fault. Dumb truck at my car.
The last (most recent) was when I got hit crossing an intersection. A lady drove through a red light and my car was totaled. Somehow I managed to get away with just a tiny scratch above my forehead when my whole windshield smashed and she hit my driver’s side door. Hrmm.. Scary? Most definitely.

  12. Aside from your car accident, this post was really motivating Hollie! I am inspired by your confidence and will use it to motivate myself to smile and be confident each day!

I’m sorry about that car! Although, you drove (well enough) when you picked me up : )

  13. I been in a few accidents but was only driving in one. I hit the other person since they slammed on their break as I was shifting lanes…but it was in Nascar race traffic that they rerouted through my town and since the person let me over in front of them and then didn’t follow me into the parking lot I am assuming that they had been drinking at said race and did not want to deal with the police at point. Oh well. My car’s bumper still has a boo boo 4 years later…

  14. Car accidents so far at age 5, age 11-VW Bug, 23-Barracuda, 28-Jetta, 44-Camry, 46-same Camry.

    My fault (2):
The ‘Cuda I dropped my wallet on the floor and looked down and ran into a parked car around the corner from my house. I was so shaken the owner of the car kept reassuring me it was Ok. But I was a blubbering fool and not able to drive to work.

Age 46-Less than 300 dollars damage, whew!. Lightly rear-ended the Minivan at a left-turn light, they stopped at the yellow, I was going thru (to try & get child to school on time). We were both going to the same school!

    Others at fault(4):
    Rear-ended
Both the Jetta & 44yr-Camry I was rear-ended. Jetta was totaled and the Camry never worked right again.

    Hit head on(2):
Age 5 – guy was driving with his head out the window talking to someone on the sidewalk and drifted into our lane.

**Worst** Age 11 – woman in a station wagon hit us head on. I was concussed and unconscious for over a day. And to this day I have no memory of being in the accident. I was on my way to the pool & the next thing I was in the hospital. My head went thru the windshield and I have major scar on my neck. If the glass had cut me a little to the left or the right, I could easily have bled out. Even worse, we were on our way to the swimming pool for my first ever away (no parents) swim trip. I wasn’t able to swim butterfly in practice (my stroke) for a long time due to stitches in my neck.

I now drive a car that is harder for people to rear-end me. A former police vehicle model, Mercury Grand Marquis, big & heavy!

  15. Oh, glad there wasn’t a problem from the earthquake for you.

And I’m really sorry about about your getting rear-ended, it really is the pits. Gee if they can’t see your type of car, SUV, I mean who has a chance? to avoid being rear-ended?

I keep hoping your X-county coach will get you going on a health challenge this year. Please share if so.

Also, I checked out LactosefreeLizzie’s blog and it is quite good. She is one year behind my son in school and hoppa, so I’m quite interested in her viewpoints. She also gave me info on being lactose-intolerant, which my son might have, she’s really cool. Thanks for the heads-up.
    Stay safe!

  16. I have been in two car accidents. one my fault (I rear ended a truck- messed up my hood because I hit the trailer hitch-nothing wrong with his car) Next not my fault. I was turning left out of a side street. car coming towards me had her blinker on, didnt turn. It me instead. Her car fine, my front bumper was distroyed. Luckily I hit her front wheel. ) I was lucky both times. someone was watching out for me

  17. As a future medical person and previous stress fracture sufferer, I know that sometimes stress fractures don’t show up on MRI’s or XRays until after the bone has begun healing or a few weeks later. They’re so small that it’s sometimes really hard to see.

I am sorry about your car. :( I got rear-ended by two people in may and that was not fun. You will make it to school (although you probably already have) and all will be fine.:)
