I have been having a hard time creating blogs that flow recently. A signature trademark of my blog is that my sentences are short and choppy and straight to the point. Also often filled with sarcastic jargon. In case you wondered, I’m not an English major by any means but I do love writing. (Maybe I just love talking about myself-who really knows).
My mom is the editor of a local military base newspaper, so I like to think I picked up a few things from her. My dad, however, went to the Navel Academy (where the emphasis is more on math and science) but he still whips out some mean writing.
Anywho, I have literally typed a new blog almost every day and I just can’t figure out what I want to say. Do I want to rattle off about the food I ate, ramble how I finally made it to New York, or how about that I didn’t even really want to go back so I wasn’t upset when my flight couldn’t be rebooked until three days later.
In any case I’m off to Puerto Rico tomorrow. I have already typed up a factual Friday blog about my shoulder injuries to keep you entertained. Although, who is going to keep me entertained on that plane ride? I may even be promoted to a jet engine plane minus the propeller planes that I seem to be riding so often back to school.
Since my flight was cancelled Monday, I did a number of things. Mostly just relaxing and spending the precious time with my family. (However, they are coming to see me in two weeks up at college! They always like to come to one of my swim meets yearly in January. Support from them means the world to me.)
I hung out with my brother, Matt, a lot. He doesn’t know what to do with himself with this Christmas Break. On a side note-he got his letter of nomination from the VA senator and with his letter of guarantee from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, he has been accepted! He was so excited. Now he just has to wait until March or even April to find out if he was accepted to the Navel Academy or the Air Force Academy. An interesting fact that I may have mentioned earlier, if he goes to the USMMA he will run in the same championship cross country meet I run in. Then my parents will have to come and watch both of us compete.

Swimming:
Because I know you love reading about my glorious swimming workouts, here is from the last couple of days with my club friends. They are a riot. They are so serious and here I am making sarcastic remarks about how everyone has changed after every set. I know they secretly enjoy my humor. (Just like the rest of the world.)

Running:
It’s been rather hard to motivate myself for running lately due to the fact that I’m running ankle deep in snow. (and the fact that I have seen EVERY single episode to Say Yes to the Dress, Hoarders, and The Great Baker.) I can stare a bottom of a pool all day but running to a blank TV or a boring station is not okay in my life.
From Monday-Wednesday, I have gotten 18 miles in. Which I can’t complain about, but let me tell you I have never been so sore in my life. I have been sleeping in compression socks every single night. Running in UNPLOWED snow is like running in quicksand. It’s a fun experience that I don’t get in NY because quite frankly, I’m not running in 0 degrees with a wind-chill.

Nom nom noms:
I got more salads in. The salad challenge (20 salads in December) is almost over. I’ll have to look back and find the best of the best and the well there were some grimy ones too. I have had 21 salads, I have just failed to take pictures of all of them. So for continuation purposes-this is 19 I believe.
For breakfast yesterday, I made a chocolate banana peanut butter greek yogurt breakfast wrap. I’ll just call it a CBPBGBW (I should get a job as an acronym creator…). I don’t know what my obsession is with nanners lately, but I may or may not be turning into a monkey.
Then I got a lovely package from Becca. Chocolate covered pretzels. These were delicious. So if you are on her good side
. I, of course, are them all before swim practice. They were fueling me.
We had steak (my favorite nom nom nom) and Mac and cheese on my final goodbye dinner last night.
Speaking of oh so deliscouness. Doesn’t this bacon, egg and cheese on a biscuit look so good? They didn’t have any good choices at the Newport News Airport this morning, hence why I will not be flying there ever again. That and Norfolk has starbucks. Why would I go there again?
Questions for you:
1. Do you prefer running inside or outside in the snow?
2. How do you write a blog, do you type it up first, then add pictures? Or do you create the blog off of pictures you have already taken?
3. I have room for one person in my suitcase, any takers?

1) I have never had the opportunity to run in snow (smirk). More like I’m not brave enough to run up and down these icy mountain roads on the rare occasions we DO have snow.
I do run up the hills to sled down though… I’m impatient
2) when I have a mixed pitcure/writing blog I add them as I go.
3) being a stowaway would be AWESOME.
I’ve been to Newport News =). I don’t think I’ve ever been to Norfolk, though. My dad used to live and work at the power plant in Newport News so I’ve been there a few times. Our airport only has vending machines but then again we only have one carrier and it only provides flights to one place (Charlotte) on a piddly little plane so yeah.
I’m super tiny so I could definitely fit in a suitcase, but I think I’ll pass because I’d rather have the TSA agents feel me up. Provided they’re HOT like that.
I’ve only ran in the snow once, and that was less than a mile just so I could say I ran in it. I have a gym membership and it rarely snows here anyway. I prefer to run outside if it’s nice outside and I have the time but especially if I have someone to run with
. Otherwise I get on the treadmill and at least that gives me the illusion that I’m running with someone, I dunno.
That biscuit looks like it came from McD’s. Ick. But that wrap looks awesome and I think I’m going to buy the stuff and try it!
Congrats to your bro!
A.L.
The TSA agent was a bit awkward but I don’t think it helped when I laughed as they patted down my butt bahaha.
It tasted ten times worse than at Micky D’s but I was starving ha.
AHHH. Let me come with you!!
I love running outside in the snow…definitely beats the treadmill and is always a fun time. Especially when the big chunky snow flakes come down! It’s surreal.
When I type blogs, I usually just talk about what comes off the top of my head…or what I’ve been really thinking about that day. If I add pictures…they’re usually random and have no place
Have fun! Send me a post card! Hah
Have a safe flight!! & an awesome time
I’ll go in the suitcase!
I love running inside because I can do specific workouts instead of just straight running outside- aside from track workouts that is.
And I usually do the blog as I go and add pictures where appropriate
I use to run on the treadmill all the time, no I cant stand it for more than 3 miles……Love running outside though. Tomorrow it will be 70 here!!
PICK ME! PICK ME! I would love to go with you ahahah
hmm I’ve never run in the snow,, but i like running outside if the pavements are clear!!! i usually take pictures and then choose which ones I want to blog about and then write up the posts!
I have never ran in snow other than running to and from the car! haha. I instead hop in the treadmill like a hampster-weeeee.
Have a great new years!
I feel the same way, I haven’t known what to write about. But I don’t get to experience snow unfortunately because in Florida it’s ridiculously warm for winter, BLAH!
yum!! Becs didnt send ME chocolate covered pretzles.. shes fired! LOL!
