Today is a meet day. Ooh goodie!
I, however, only swam the 1000 free and a relay today. We have five distance girls and when there is a meet against a less competitive team I’m normally taken out of the 500 to give someone else a chance to swim it. I’m okay with it and not upset at all considering I don’t even enjoy the 500 too much. I’m not sure which one I care for more-the 500 or anchoring a relay.
For breakfast this morning, I did something stupid. I forgot the protein powder in my pancakes! I guess I was feeling a bit overzealous…I realized as I was putting them on the griddle. Oh well, they were light and fluffy anyways. I made orange zest cakes.
Orange Zest Cakes
½ cup flour
¼ cup egg substitute
4 tablespoons of orange zest
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 ounces Greek yogurt
¼ cup water
Mix ingredients together and make on griddle like normal pancakes. I found the Greek yogurt really added a fluffyness and brought out the orange zest. I then topped with more Greek yogurt and a tad of syrup. Citrus heaven in my mouth.
Today’s swim meet went rather well. Not for me (of course) but the majority of the team had best times! We won and the boys nearly won. We were up against a military school-so of course they have a lot more boys then girls.
My 1000, I dropped 10 seconds from last weekend but was still 30 seconds slower than my normal time. I got first, but in all honesty there wasn’t too much competition. Then three hours later-I finally got to swim a relay. I was completely dry. Sitting in a pool for three hours not swimming isn’t the most exciting thing in the world. My relay was comprised of complete distance swimmers. We contemplated changing it to a 4000 yard relay rather than a 400, but decided that might take a tad too long.
We have a formal to get too! Which dress did I choose?! I’ll give you a clue-my flowery one is being worn by another swimmer (actually the fastest one on the team hehe).
