A Strange Day Indeed

Before I get into the meat of today’s blog, I must say I do agree with what the majority of people commented yesterday about Aram’s hair.  I do like the shorter better; I have always had a thing for men that clean up well.  Since it is Arams last semester at school before he goes into the world of business, he cut it nice and short.  It’s better than our big swim meet last year, when all the boys shaved off all their hair.  (Before they cut it off they dyed it blonde!)

Today before morning practice I had a nature valley chocolate chip granola bar.  It was okay, but not my favorite by any standards and it did not hold me over the entire practice.  Swimming when hungry at 7 am is not an enjoyable experience.

I came back and made…

A waffle!  I used the Krissy’s Nutcake recipe and without pumpkin again and made a nice light and fluffy waffle. Peanut Butter dark chocolate.

This leads me to my question, pancakes, waffles and crepes are essentially made of the same ingredients.  Which do you prefer?

I tend to think of waffles as pancakes with enlarged syrup traps.  But I just enjoy pancakes better.

Then it was off to class class class.  Today I had a test in educational psychology.  You may have noticed I haven’t been rambling on too much about that class-the fact is…I ENJOY IT NOW!  Well-not today we had a test.  But I have really taken an interest to the teacher and his teaching.  It can be a bit dry sometimes-but what class can’t be?  Especially coming from a math background hehe.

I had the best flatbread sandwich today at the dining hall.  It had roast beef, turkey, American cheese, spinach, tomatoes, banana peppers and crushed red peppers.  I must say, the lady did a mean job making it and I would compare it to Quiznos.

Today I looked up plane tickets for Thanksgiving break.  They are over 400 dollars!  From NY to VA.  You can get international flights at that cost.  I might end up driving home.  I need to make a list of all the benefits to keep myself sane.

1.        It takes 12 hours from school to my house.
2.       My last plane ride took 11.5 with driving to the airport and everything- 30 minutes less time than driving the entire distance home.
3.       300-400 dollars for a plane ticket.  150-200 for gas.  I could find someone to ride with me to Binghamton and could pay gas money if I was that desperate.  I would rather just have someone to ride with, not for them to pay.
4.       Very lonely drive ew.
5.       I have never driven more than 2 hours by myself.  I followed my dad to school but he was still in the car in front of me.
I think I’m going to drive.

Then after that discovery, it was time to run.  Aram joined me on my run today.  I ran 2.5 miles then picked him up and we ran another 6.5.  It was actually rather pleasant since I never get anyone to run with.  I have to give him a lot of credit because I’m sure he will be very tired tomorrow.

We went off to get pasta for my big cross country race on Saturday.  The race is five hours away ick.

The locals favorite here is a little restaurant called Sergis.

It is just as important to “carb load,” if not more important two nights before the race.  So there I was eating my gnocchi.  Gnocchi is a potato pasta and delicious.  I had mine in Marinara sauce and with grilled chicken.  I love the restaurant Sergis-it is just so slow.  It is one of Aram’s favorite restaurants .  He always gets cheese pizza and I always steal a slice.

Then off to Wal-Mart.  I needed to fill my prescriptions and get a few random things.

I don’t have too much on my plate tonight.  Just finishing up more math homework.  It has been overpowering my life lately boo.  :(

What I did not eat today:

1. pancakes

2. pumpkin

A strange day indeed.

Whey Cakes

Well it all started a year ago when I saved every recipe Oxygen ever had for high protein snacks/breakfast and things I could easily whip out. I would be lying to you if these didn’t resemble pancakes but they do. I found them in a really old issue-I had ripped it out so I don’t know the exact month or even year. The recipe is so simple (just like pancakes!). I have also seen this recipe on numerous body building websites (when I did a lot of weight training) for females about to go into competition that don’t eat many carbs.

1 scoop whey (or any) protein powder

1 tablespoon Xanthan Gum (I had never used this stuff before it has 7 grams of fiber for 30 calories, and the recipe called for it. I suppose I should not have been shocked of
what it did to the batter. It made it so GUMMY. I should have taken a photo.)

½ cup+ of water
I think I seriously used a cup of water, I just kept adding and adding.

Mix and pour onto griddle.

Cook on very high heat. I cooked mine of 400 degrees! Walaa.

I used one of my root beer protein powders from optimum whey. I like this recipe and I think it would be good, if you added different flavored proteins. I’m not sure I would be a fan of just a plain whey cake. I’ll be making this a lot for snacks, I feel. That whey (no pun intended hehe) I can experiment with different add ins. For some reason, I have a strange feeling spinach would be good here ha.
