Happy Halloween

Although my swim meet didn’t go well (except my team won! YAY First time in 7 years). Celebrating with my friends was certainly enjoyable. After I came back from dinner with Aram, I had to somewhat rush to get ready since the girls had already begun. I was decently presentable because I had just gone on a date to Lobster House but not in my pumpkin costume!

Most Adult Halloween Costumes are about 50-60 dollars. For one night! Is that even worth it? I wanted to calculate my costume

Bra: On Sale Gap 4.99(And I can wear this running score!)
Leggings: Walmart 5.00
Skirt: Walmart 5.00
Felt: Micheals 2.00
Vine: Micheals 6.50
Headband: Walgreens 3.00

Total: 26.50. Not too bad about half price and I can still use that sports bra ha. I can actually use the leggings too when we start tapering for swimming.
Without further ado: Pictures From Last Night!

Elora was a belly dancer! She handmade her costume.

I'm glad Aram isn't a lumber Jack all year round

Fred was supposed to be a pumpkin too!

Swim Meet

The first swim meet of the season!  Hooray!  Today began though, at 5:15am when I walked over to cross country bus to give them the muffins I had made.  They texted me and said they were fans.

Then I crawled back into bed and ugh slept right through the time I was supposed to run.  I am really far in mileage again so I needed to get in a run today.  We will see-if it isn’t in the cards it’s not and I’ll try harder next week.

We had our morning “wake-up swim,” for distance swimmers at 9am.  Our coach requires anyone swimming the 500/1000 or people who take longer to warmup to come in a few hours before team warm-ups and swim about 2000 yards.  This isn’t so bad until away meets when the buss leaves at 6am and we have to swim from 5:00 or even earlier.  I always do the same routine and have found it works for me.  :)

1000 Free

800 Pull

200 IM

I came back and made myself Red Velvet Pancakes because I have pancakes everyday and switching up my routine before a race wouldn’t be good now would it?

I’m pretty impressed by my logic there ha.

The moment you have all been waiting for:

The Swim Meet!

I wish I could somehow flower this up and say that I did really well but that is not the case.  I don’t want to sound like a downer and believe me (I have come to the understanding all races are not your best.)  However, this was my worst college swim meet to date.  I went times slower than my freshman year and I was cognitively not involved in the meet.  That is okay I suppose.  I wish I had more to say about it, but I would rather not think too much about it.  It’s in the past and I can only hope next week will be better.

Aram took me out to Lobster House afterwards since I was clearly upset.  I had Princess Lobster with a baked potato.  We got stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer.  I was still in a Debbie Downer Mood so didn’t really take too many photos at dinner last night.

Stuffed Lobster and Shrimp

Anywho-Stay tuned for my Halloween Party Blog.  I had a blast!   Here is a preview of the final costume.

It's Times Like These I feel My Obsession With Pumpkin Is Out Of Hand

Question for you: What do you do to bounce back from bad races/events?

Diner Day, New Hair and Pumpkin Muffins

I never had my computer crash before-but it crashed and I lost my blog that I had so excitedly typed up. Well now-that is no fun and I guess I will have to recreate it and post it later. You see, I was going to post the blog at 3pm between class and swim practice because in all honesty, it’s a Friday night (and the Friday before Halloween) who is going to spend their time reading my blog?

Well hopefully you! But if not-I understand. You see with swimming we have a 48 hour policy of no drinking so there are no parties going on anyways. Not that I drink but I do have a social life (I swear!). So I’ll be spending my night reading blogs and doing homework. Anywho.
In response to everyone’s comments-I agree 100%! No one person can fulfill all your social needs. You have girlfriends to go get manicures with, you have a significant other that truly understands all your inner feelings, you have brothers and sisters you have grown up and of course you have other Foodies who love to blog! Ha-had to throw that in there.

Today it actually came up with Aram and I, he was talking in some sort of “Bro talk” vernacular that I had no idea what was going on. So I point blank said, “Aram I have no idea what sort of bro talk you are using and told him to read my blog.”

Dark Hair

or Lighter Hair?

——————-
Today started off at 6:40am-when my alarm went off. I sat there debating whether I should go for my run now or somehow squeeze in a run in between classes, then I thought back to last Friday. Last Friday was a disaster. I didn’t feel good because I was running on empty and was in bed by 7. I couldn’t complete a swim practice but I did complete a run. Anyways needless to say I slept in until 8 today and then my meeting that had thrown me off schedule was canceled anyways. So I got in my run at 12 like normal.

Friday is Diner Day!

I ordered 1 raspberry stuffed pancake and 1 apple pancake. Yes, the raspberry pancake came with whip cream on top.

So thick and neverending

Aram on the other hand ordered a meat lovers omelet.

Then off to Sports Psychology. We were almost late hehe. If you missed my blog on Wednesday, we are watching Bring it on. My teacher had a conference and so she had a graduate student put in the movie. Not only was there an attendance sheet but there is a GRADED worksheet. I love the movie to death (it’s one of my favorites) but in a college setting, she could have cancelled class and I could have gotten my math homework done. Oh wait…I did that while watching the movie anyways. Waste of my life.

Today I made pumpkin muffins for the cross country team. I posted a while back, that a big cross country meet happened to be on the same day as a big swim meet. Of course…well needless to say my swim coach told me if I don’t swim we won’t win and my cross country coach supported that. Was I in support? No not really-but I’m not a drama starter.

So I made them pumpkin muffins for tomorrow and I’m going to go give them to them on the bus (which leaves at 5:30am). No one can say I’m not dedicated to my teams!
Pumpkin Muffins:
1 box any cake mix you choose (I chose Spice Cake)
1 15 ounce can of pumpkin puree
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 egg whites
Mix and put into muffin cups. Cook according to package-I found mine were ready in about 12 minutes but I made them smaller.

All packaged up

Not that I didn't eat half the batter...

Question for you: Favorite Holiday?
I like Christmas because of all the festivities. I like Halloween because I like the overall theme of pumpkins (but not being scared). New Years is good because it is a new start. Thanksgiving, Easter and Fourth of July bring families together. Valentines day is exciting if you have someone to share it with. What am I forgetting hehe?

Living in a Windtunnel

Before I post about my eats!  Jamie is having a giveaway for a Food Network recipe book!  Now if she could give away some of her good eating, I would take that too.  Her recipes always look delicious and this is a main cookbook staple of hers.  So check out her blog, because I know I’m obsessed with it.

—————–
Was it windy today where you are? I thought I was in a wind tunnel and going to blow away all day.

My alarm went off on time today!  Success in my life.  I actually woke up before my alarm anyways-but it went off at 5:30.  I had a South Beach Triple Berry Bar.  I had one last Saturday and I was a fan for sure, so I woke up on a good note.

Swim Practice:

1000 Warmup
1000 Pull
400 Im
500 Pull
400 Im
300 Kick
13X150Interval
4X25 All out
800 Swim
Total: 6750 Yards

Then I came home and did not make red velvet pancakes.  I will save that for Saturday morning before the meet hehe.  I made Greek Yogurt Pancakes instead.

½ cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
6 ounces Greek yogurt
¼ egg substitute
Optional:
2 tablespoons cocoa
Vanilla Extract
Sweetener to taste

Then I topped with a little syrup and more Greek Yogurt!  It was like a match made in heaven.  I am still in love with the Red Velvet Pancakes though.  Can you tell I can’t get over them?

Then learning about more great mathematics and then to mail my dad’s birthday present.  It is his birthday on Saturday so I had to get that out today so it would come in on time hehe.

At the dining hall today, I had a chicken flatbread sandwich and 3 egg rolls.  I love the egg rolls here (but my butt doesn’t ha).  I also ended up having a piece of cake since it was so cute.  That is probably not the best either.

The eggrolls went missing into my belly.

Then insert a 10 mile run here in the most windy climate in the world.  I seriously thought I might blow away, it was awful.  I was looking for a tornado to touch down all day today.

Then off to Wal-Mart with my housemate Kelley to pick up Secret Psych stuff for the swim meet on Saturday.  For our first home meet we each draw names and then decorate their lockers.  Lucky for me, I got the only other math major and someone I adore.  So it’s perfect.

Then to the dining hall with one of my friends Kelsey.  Seriously, I know this sounds rather ridiculous but I have gotten a meal with someone other than Aram at least once a day this entire week.  I haven’t eaten every meal with him.  That is really good for me since he is graduating in a month and it isn’t like I don’t have friends…I just always end up eating with Aram but never fear we are not one of those obsessive couples we just eat a lot of meals together. I need to find other people to eat with too because what will I do second semester?

When you were in college/high school/work/whatever, did you ever know any couples that just wouldn’t leave each other’s side ever?

I find it rather obnoxious myself.

Which leads me to my next question, do you think it is okay for people to spend all their time with their significant other?  Such as can one person can really fulfill all your social needs.

Anyways for dinner I had steak and potatoes and lots of dessert.  I think it’s been a rather rough week for me in that aspect of eating somewhat healthy.

I had about 10 of these Mouse cups.

I’m off to dye my hair.  One of my housemates, Michelle is a pro!  I’m just darkening it back up so it doesn’t like mousey brown again because we all know that damage Chlorine does.

Expect photos tomorrow at the diner.

What should I purchase at netrition.com? What are you favorite purchases? I am already buying protein and pb2. :)

There’s a Man in My Kitchen!

Today did not start as planned-because I woke up at 6:40. I was supposed to be up at 5:30 for morning practice but for some reason my phone shut off booo. Today was the one day of the month I needed to go to morning practice. I have class during the other times of open swim and swim practice. I ran my butt to practice (got death stares from my teammates) and did an hours worth of practice which ended up being about 3500 yards.

Then I came back and guess who was in the kitchen making delicious omelets?

ARAM!

I wish he would be more confident in his cooking skills because these babies were amazing. I had mine with spinach, turkey pepperoni, cheese and spinach. I’m going to demand he make them more often hehe.

Then off to Sports Psychology. But not without a little matchy matchy action from one of my housemates Kelley. We were sporting our math alliance tee-shirts. Aram is embarrassed by my love for math and won’t walk around with me when I wear it hehe. Imagine how he felt this morning when it was double action.

In Sports Psychology we are watching Bring it On. This is one of my favorite movies, but in a class setting such a waste of my life. I understand the teacher is absent and wanted to give us something to do, but having an old student administer a GRADED worksheet on a movie I have seen a dozen times seems a touch too much. I literally just worked on math homework all class.
Then off for a fabulous run. I ran 7.25 miles in 50 minutes! It is my best time on the route thus far and I was ecstatic.
So ecstatic that I had to make red velvet pancakes again. That and they are god’s gift to my life.

Before the Red Velvetyness

Red and Velvety

Next Time More Food Coloring

So moral of the story-even though I started off with a bad day-it’s getting better slowly hehe.

Side note questions for you:
1. I’m going on a shopping spree on netrition.com, what is your favorite items of purchase? I already know I am getting pb2, more protein (not sure what brand), but what else should I invest in?
2. I still need songs for my playlist. I have added every single recommendation you guys have given me so Thank-you. :)
