Obsessions-Pancakes and Yogurt

I have been finding it a lot harder and harder to run in the morning.  When I go to swim practice in the morning-I feel much more motivated to go (and my coach will have my bottom if I don’t).   Running, however, is different because I’m running by myself.  There is no one to call me if I’m not there…or they don’t see me.  Today began with a 1 hour run through the town.  I felt decent running today, which I was actually surprised.

8:30am-Sweet Potato Pancakes.  Remember these guys?  I haven’t had you in a while and that is basically all I thought about during my run ha.  I had a side of vanilla Chobani yogurt.  I love yogurt with my pancakes.  I will never get enough of either.  I like how sweet potato pancakes and pumpkin pancakes are not always in a perfect circle and look like a giant blob.  If that makes sense.

Then I had a math class-we had a pop quiz boo!  I think I did pretty well-we have a test on Tuesday though.  I guess she wanted to give us a check to make sure we knew what we needed to study.  After that I got some much needed laundry done.  It amazes me how gross running clothes can smell ah.

12:00pm-Strawberry pancakes.  Okay yes, this is very embarrassing that I was having pancakes for two meals today.  They are, however, made entirely different.  The first ones were made without any pancake mix and these use fiber one pancake mix.  I also made lots of baby pancakes versus one big pancake.  I’m trying to go a more meatless route when I have 2:00 swim practice because I can feel it sitting in my stomach sometimes.

My boyfriend wanted to take my picture today because I didn’t look like a bum.  I said I would only take a photo with my favorite stuffed animal Bloomie.  I have had him since I was one!

Do you have any stuffed animals that you have had forever?

Insert another awful IM practice here.

Total: 5300 yards
750 warmup
10X50 butterfly drill
4X100 Backstroke
4X100 Breastroke
5X100 Butterfly
1000 freestyle (1:20 base…on 12:40)
600 freestyle
400 free
2X200 free
350 cool-down

It was the practice that never ends.

4:30pm-Greek god yogurt with hot cocoa mix.  A friend of mine told me about mixing hot cocoa with yogurt and it tastes exactly like mousse.  I added swiss miss diet and 1 serving of Greek god plain.  Yummy! (not pictured booo)

5:30-Dinner date to the dining hall.  Thursday is steak night at Lehman.  The flank steak was actually delicious and I had a lot.  Nothing too excessive but I got my fair share of protein tonight.  I also had mixed veggies, a baked potato and fruit salad.  I found some banana peppers on the salad bar that I was craving as well.

I have to teach swimming lessons tonight and I’m rather cold.  We will see how this goes.  I suppose I’ll make myself some hot cocoa, and use more and more of my hot cocoa mix.  I’m starting to run low eek.

After my run, I noticed the veins in my feet were popping out.  I’m going to do more research on this, it has happened during swimming with my shoulders but never when running.  I hope this doesn’t gross anyone out hehe. I made it smaller just incase.

Question for you-What are some of your favorite high protein meatless meals?

  1. My foot-veins pop out but not as much as in your picture. Haha that IM workout looks like fun except for the 5×100 fly after the other strokes! :-)
I sleep with my favorite stuffed animal every night and still cry with him when I’m sad. lol. He’s a black dog

  2. did you make those pancakes?! i too like it when its not a perfect circle! i like lots of flaps around! i remember i had this white teddy bear that i used to carry it with me all the times. i dont know where is it. i think about that bear all the times!

that’s a great idea.. yogurt mixed with cocoa mix! im going to try that tomorrow, that’s if i can remember haha!

feel better and get those feet check!!!

  3. Is there someone from your cross country team you can run with? That way they could call you if you don’t show up.

Love the picture with your bear!

I wish I liked yogurt…reading about you having it all the time makes me want it even though it doesn’t taste good to me at all lol.

I’ll be interested to read about your findings on the veins thing. Sometimes mine pop out in my hands but not after any exercise that I’m aware of.

    • There is no one I can-that early. No one that wants to wake up that early since they can run later. I do, however, have someone to run with on Wens and Fridays so I’m quite estatic about that. :)

There are so many different flavors of yogurt. Do you just not enjoy the texture?

  4. Oh…and I have a bear I made at Build-a-Bear with Nathan on our 3-month anniversary. His name is Kasey. Nathan made a dog, he named it Scruffy I believe. Kasey is always on my bed with me. I’m not sure if Nate still has Scruffy with him when he sleeps at night or not…I’m not even sure if he went to school with him this year lol.

  5. The yogurt/diet cocoa mix combo sounds sooo good!!! Definitely purchasing some cocoa asap and then making some. yummm.

I have to say, for meatless protein I usually go with a lot of greek yogurt and protein shakes, or oatmeal and egg whites mixed together in the mornings. Other than that, I love my meat: lots of chicken, fish, ground turkey….
I actually have quiteee a wide variety of protein shakes and I have at least one a day. Usually I just have them just straigh as is in a blender bottle pre/post workout, first thing in the morning, and pre-bed casein. But recently, I’ve discovered that if you take iced coffee + ice + vanilla or chocolate protein powder + (milk/sugar/whatever you want, depends on your protein powder/taste…I actually don’t add anything else) and blend it all together you get a DELCIOUS high protein, low-cal frapaccino.

    • When I get deeper into the swimming season, I had protein shakes at least once a day. That sounds excellent, coffee and protein powder are two of my favorite foods. I’m not sure anyone enjoys protein powder as much as me ha.

  6. I totally have a stuffed cat that I still sleep with. It’s embarrasing, but I hide it. Those strawberry pancakes are super cute, I love the pink color! My favorite high protein meatless meals are:

    1. a tortilla pizza with trader joe’s meatless meatballs
    2. eggplant stuffed with tempeh, red quinoa and cheese
    3. tofu stirfry
    4. whole wheat pasta salad with kidney beans and chickpeas
    5. greek yogurt with just about anything
