A Day of Trying New Things

Today began at 7:30am.  I got to sleep in.  So they posted the results of my first unofficial cross country meet and I got third for females.  I didn’t realize that the two girls I could see (the first one was only 20 seconds ahead) were the only females ahead of me.  Even though I was dying, I would have pushed it so hard to pass them.  I do not like to lose ha.

Since I have my first official race tomorrow about 3 hours away, my boyfriend told me he would take me to breakfast to carb load.  Carb load with what you ask?  Well the typical person carb loads with pasta the night before a race.  Honestly, that isn’t the best solution.  Your body doesn’t have enough time in 12 hours to seek out all those carbs and use them for your race.  I have read multiple books and articles that is the most beneficial to have your carbs 2 nights before or even the morning before the race.  So I’m having 3 large raspberry pancakes for my race that is about 28 hours away.  Not chocolate chip though, because sinless September told me no.

8:30am: My favorite Diner in the world.  3 large raspberry pancakes.

Breakfast

Insert Sports psychology and going for a 30 minute run and swimming here.  We have a race tomorrow and so we are only required to do 30 minutes of easy jogging.  I, however, am beginning to see I need to get into the pool more for the upcoming season so I tagged that along.  My pool’s boiler system was off all summer and to prevent from getting too cold, it made sense to run (and heat up my body since it has been 80s here today) and then run.  My plan was efficient and worked well and I didn’t even get cold today.

2:00pm I decided to try and make a green monster!  I had heard so much about them and decided it was my turn to try.  My Green Monster consisted of the following:

3 cups spinach

½ scoop vanilla Isopure protein

½ cup milk

½ cup Oikos Greek yogurt

1 splenda

It was amazing.  All this hype about them, I would have to agree it was great.  You will be seeing a lot more of these in my blogs.  :)

Green Monster #1

Insert a lovely swim team meeting and picking up my cross country uniform.  Plus my first quiz in Modern Algebra which I hope I did well on.

5:30pm Dinner time at the lovely dining hall.  Today I had fish, squash, salt potatoes, and a mixture of fruit cocktail.  The haddock was really good and actually so were the salt potatoes.  Every night our dining hall features “Prime Time.”  Fridays, it is fish, Thursdays-steak and I think Wednesdays-every dessert you can imagine.  I can only remember those days because I have gone to the dining hall those three nights this week.

Fruit Salad

Question for you: For those who have made the Green Monster before.  What do you add?  Or if you haven’t, what is your favorite type of high protein shake/smoothie?
